Henry Waxman, who was involved in the effort, concurs later in the article, saying that the issue “did not originate at the White House.”

Henry Waxman went on to announce that he would be launching an investigation into the matter to determine which Republicans lied to Clinton and told her that she had something to do with the initiative! Subpeonas are expected any day and will likely focus on Karl Rove and other top White House officials who were aware of Clinton’s role as First Lady.

Seriously, it is a pretty big lie when a Clinton can’t get Teddy Kennedy or Henry Waxman to play the role of wingman.

The thing is, in spite of this mild pushback from other Dems, she still benefits from telling these lies because John Q. Public really doesn’t track things that closely. He hears it, assumes she wouldn’t tell an outright lie, and tends to read heads and first few paragraphs of articles (if he reads the paper at all!) and catch maybe a half hour of local and a half hour of national news most days.

Unless the media did a full court press with headlines like “Hillary Lied!” John Q. Public will never know the difference.
