Coddling of terrorists, you must be thinking of a different McCain as I realy don’t see him coddling ANY terrorists.

Say what you want about his other policy postions (shamnesty, etc) as I agree with most of what you say about him, but McCain won’t be a terrorist coddler.

Well for some reason I can’t get the video to work,
no matter I remember this one quite well.

I love the photo-op of the girl giude,Reagan acts as if he
has memory loss,the girl guide leaves and on a dime,sharp as
a tack he asks how the operation is going,LMAO,then he finds
out that his aides don’t have a clue,exasperated he says I
gotta do everthing my self,in Reagans accent,Priceless!

When he gets into the banks and what time they open,he is
busy calculating i think on the chalk board the exchange
rates,and shuffling the money,I LMAO into tears,that was
when SNL was in its glory.

Phil Hartman was a great comedian and actor,loved his work!

Remember the SNL skit “Dukakis After Dark”, in which Jon Lovitz played a Hefner-like Dukakis surrounded by fellow loser Democrats? Hilarious. I’ll have to try to find it online.

That's the one! I poked around the SNL page and Hulu and couldn't find "Dukakis After Dark", one of my favorite sketches from the Jon Lovitz days. Does anyone know if there's video of it on any of the other video hosts?

This was pretty much the “We Surrender” skit from SNL’s writing crew. NBC wants everybody to forget the fall 1980 season, when Jean Doumanian was put in charge and the show tanked due to its unfunniness, which included skits and jokes in the run-up to the 1980 election that portrayed Reagan as a moron who wanted to blow up the world.

The show was yanked and retooled and Doumanian was fired, but SNL continued to join the rest of the media for the next seven years in trying to figure out a way to take down Reagan’s public image (SNL and its alums like Chevy were still very proud of the hit job they did on Gerald Ford). But neither showing him as evil nor stupid seemed to work, so they finally came up with this skit, showing the dunce image of Reagan they and others had been trying to push all those previous years was only an act. What they ended up with was the show’s most memorable Reagan skit, even if writing it had to hurt a little bit.

Does anyone know what season this clip is from or, more specifically, the original air date?

It’s gotta be either ‘86/’87, ‘87/’88 or very early ‘88/’89 since the ‘88 election is referenced.
