Prof Blather joined the National Guard 3/12/08, who looks like he will be going to the CO training (possibly in Alabama) this summer from the sounds of it.

I re-enlisted Army 3/7/08. I will be leaving in Fall for AIT (training) as a unmanned aerial operator, think predator.

Good luck to you, my friend. Ironically, Wednesday at MEPS I was having a long conversation with one of the other few old prior service guys (he was 37) … and when we were discussing MOS’s, the topic of flying those drones came up. Others joined in the conversation, and we all agreed that it must be a pretty cool gig. For two reasons: 1) you basically get to play a video game and/or fly the coolest multi-million dollar remote controlled plane ever … and 2) you’ll probably be the guy to finally bag Bin Laden.

As for the rest of you …

That said, this latest move by you only proves my instinct about you was right on. You are an incredible person, as are all the men & women who answer the call of the military. I can’t tell you how grateful I am. You are in my family’s prayers.

Me? Air Force ’81 to ’87, and I thought long and hard about another go ’round a year or so ago. I may have to rethink that yet gain.

But as an E-4, you’re gonna have to buy the drinks. At the officer’s club.
