Grab the popcorn. We’ve got another joint YAF/Hot Air TV production for you, just in time for the anti-war confab known as “Winter Soldier II” that kicks off in Washington, D.C. tomorrow and runs through Sunday. YAF’s Jason Mattera, our intrepid special correspondent who cornered Jack Murtha in September, is back in the halls of Congress. And showing no mercy.

This week, Jason caught up with the original Winter Soldier, Sen. John Kerry, and confronted him about his unsubstantiated, troop-smearing testimony. Jason also tried to get him to autograph this picture. Watch:

Also on YouTube.

***
Here’s the transcript:

Opening slate: On January 31, 1971, John Kerry organized the “Winter Soldier Investigations,” a media event that falsely accused American soldiers of routinely raping, torturing, and murdering innocent Vietnamese civilians.

Second slate: From March 13-16, 2008, “Iraq Veterans Against the War” has coordinated a second Winter Soldier Investigations in an effort to assail the U.S. Military in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Third slate: On March 11, 2008, Jason Mattera of Young America’’s Foundation confronted Senator Kerry (D-MA) about Winter Soldier II and the Senator’’s shady past.

MATTERA: Hey, Sen. Kerry! Jason Mattera with Young America’s Foundation. How are you?

KERRY: Jason. How are you?

MATTERA: I was wondering: Do you have any advice for the new group of activists who are organizing Winter Soldier II?

KERRY: I haven’t [unintelligble] what they’re doing or where they’re at. I just don’t…

MATTERA: Do you think this crop of anti-war activists, do you there’ll be any frauds like Al Hubbard?

KERRY: I have no idea. I hope not.

MATTERA: Do you think that they will make slanderous accusations–accusing the troops of raping women, pillaging villaging, just like you did to the Fulbright committee?

KERRY: Uh, I didn’t make those.

MATTERA: You didn’t?

Audio clip, John Kerry, 4/22/71: [They told the stories at times] they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.

Kerry claims Winter Soldier Investigations were substantiated by further investigation.

MATTERA: Did you ever verify those

KERRY (crosstalk): I’ve been misquoted about that hundreds of times.

MATTERA: So you never substantiated those charges before you–

KERRY: I proposed–I gave them to the committee because I felt that they ought to be investigated and that’s exactly what I said. These are the–many of those charges, incidentally, were subsequently verified by different entities.

Slate: No criminal charges were filed as a result of any of the [Army’s Criminal Investigative Division] investigations into Winter Soldier.

FrontPageMag.com, February 25, 2008

Slate: Much of the testimony that will be heard during the three days could not be corroborated by the Free Press in the ten days it had to run down each account.

Detroit Free Press, January 31, 1971

MATTERA: Could you sign the picture of the dedication the North Vietnamese created in helping–claiming you helped them win the war?

KERRY: No. No.

MATTERA: Do you have any thoughts?

KERRY (puts hand on Jason’s shoulder): Who do you represent?

MATTERA: Young America’s Foundation.

KERRY: Ohhh.

MATTERA: Does it bother you that the North Vietnamese created a memorial dedicated to you?

KERRY: It’s not dedicated to me.

Slate: At the Communists War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, John Kerry’s picture hangs in a section dedicated to the anti-war activists who helped the Vietnamese Communists win the Vietnam War.

End slate:

Reputations ruined.
Lives torn apart.
Servicemen maligned.

We can’t let lies like Kerry’s go unchallenged again.

I think it’s a processing problem. Hang on. Trying to resolve.

Michelle on March 12, 2008 at 11:20 PM

Sometimes takes Youtube time to access a new video. Give it about an hour or half and hour

Deep breath, it’ll work.

Try http://www.qubetv.tv/
instead of Youtube.
They won’t censor conservative videos. Even if there is a valid reason for the difficulties on Youtube, it’s nice to have an alternative service - especially a conservative one.

It works Michelle, they just need to actually Go to Youtube..

It seems that maybe your embed has a problem?

John Kerry’s not so secret any longer MySpace entry:

Hi there fellow bloggers. My name is United States Senator John Forbes Kerry from the great state of Massachusetts. You can call me JFK if you want. I was born on December 11, 1943, although people tell me that I look at least 20 years younger. It’s probably my great hair and rugged good looks.

I graduated from Yale in June 1966 in the top 1% of my class. To earn extra money during the summers, I loaded trucks in a grocery warehouse and sold encyclopedias door to door. That is probably one of the reasons that I am so humble. Over my four years at Yale, I maintained a 96 grade average and received a 101 average in my senior year.

I am one of the most senior members of that grand and much loved and respected institution known as the U.S. Senate. Probably the only living Senator even a little bit greater than me is my dear friend Ted Moore Kennedy. I also have a very high IQ. Very high. At least 250 on a bad day. Much higher than that creep who stole the election from me. I know that he stole it because exit polls are never ever wrong.

I am also a great war hero. I set all kinds of records for heroism when I was in Vietnam. I was grievously wounded at least three times yet continued to insist on staying in the fight when lesser men would have given up. I won the bronze star with extra V’s for extra valor and the Silver Star for defeating a whole battalion of NVA with my bare hands. Sometimes I feel like a had to carry all the water for those other ungrateful swiftboaters.

I sometimes like to chill out after a long day of serving the American people by having a double martini with my good friend Ted. We usually have a servant bring 21 double martinis. I get one and Ted gets one for each of his fingers and each of his toes. Contrary to what some of my very few enemies say I never marry women for just their money. They must also have a pulse. BTW, did I mention that I was in Vietnam? I was also in Cambodia, so don’t forget that!

I would like to think that I am open minded, honest, polite, heroic and trustworthy. And I appreciate the same qualities in others although I am realistic enough to know that no one else could come close to me.

Turn offs: other politicians who spend more on haircuts than I do. That is just not right.

Who I’d like to meet:
…other progressive bloggers. Other great war heroes who hate that damn S-T-U-P-I-D Texan in the White House and those lying sons of bitcher swiftboat bastardos whose pants are on fire! Cool people who live close to Washington D.C. so that we can get together, talk about you for about 30 seconds and then spend about 9 hours talking about me. BTW, did I mention that I was in Vietnam and Cambodia? Just one more BTW, if anyone has found my magic hat please return to me.

MB4 on March 12, 2008 at 11:32 PM

Works for me!

At the end Kerry sounds like he’s half mad half wanting to cry. Haha.

Absolutely FANTASTIC!

Chakra, that link tells me its a private video

Mattpat11 on March 12, 2008 at 11:37 PM

Yeah, it’s easy to understand how he ended up becoming known as Waffles. He really has a difficult time saying anything decisive. When someone brought up something from McCain’s past, did he just kind of stand there and mumble?

“Do you have any thoughts?”
“Who do you represent?”

apollyonbob on March 12, 2008 at 11:38 PM

Now even by clicking the link it says

“This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure you accept the sender’s friend request.”

WTH?

Chakra Hammer on March 12, 2008 at 11:38 PM

It finally worked for me…. utube

I’d say Kerry got Punked but good by Jason.

I would like to remit the Quote of the Day as;

Not sure..

4shoes on March 13, 2008 at 12:32 AM

That still doesn’t expel him from being an idiot, IMO.

Whether he’s an idiot or not has no bearing on the “report”, which is an equivalent of someone publicly screaming at Bush “you’re a moron!”, which btw is a perfectly accurate observation, at least in my judgment. Yet I wouldn’t be clapping to such a clip.

My impression is that Kerry is so out of the guy’s league intellectually that he has try again and prepare 100% bullet-proof questions in order to not look like a moron, who just makes shit up on the fly as in that quote about a “memorial dedicated to Kerry”.

I know we will not agree on this. Still thought I’d offer my observations.

It did my heart good to watch that.

boomer on March 13, 2008 at 12:37 AM

I know it’s late, but, how exactly does that state Mattera lied???

I take the three question mark as a sign that you just have no idea whatsoever how one would not view a “memorial dedicated to you” as a fair representation of a “picture hanging in a section dedicated to the anti-war activists”. Like no idea at all.

I honestly don’t know how to explain it to you.

The same way I know you’re not a pedophile. There is nothing to suggest you are.

freevillage on March 13, 2008 at 12:41 AM

Don’t bother, I don’t think you’re able.

You’re right. That’s what I meant. It’s one of those things that I am not able to do.

freevillage on March 13, 2008 at 12:42 AM

Well, here, let me explain it to you.

Or rather, let Jeff Epstein of Vietnam Vets for Truth explain it:

This photograph’s unquestionable significance lies in its placement in the American protestors’ section of the War Crimes Museum in Saigon. The Vietnamese communists clearly recognize John Kerry’s contributions to their victory. This find can be compared to the discovery of a painting of Neville Chamberlain hanging in a place of honor in Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest in 1945.”

…Below the photograph of John Kerry are explanatory placards in English, French, Vietnamese, and Chinese. The English placard reads:

“Mr. Do Muoi, Secretary General of the Vietnamese Communist Party met with Congressman and Veterans Delegation in Vietnam (July 15-18, 1993)”

Senator Kerry may argue today that his anti-war protests did not render support to the enemy in time of war and that his activities did not violate the definition of treason given in Article III, Section 3, of the US Constitution. This exhibit paying tribute to Kerry in the War Protestors Hall of the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City tells a very different story. The Vietnamese communists clearly feel that the American anti-war protestors were a very important force in undermining support in the United States for American war efforts, a force that contributed materially to ultimate communist victory in 1975.

It’s a photographic shrine dedicated to the anti-war activists led by John Kerry, illustrated with a picture of John Kerry. Not Jane Fonda. Not John Lennon.

John Kerry.

Michelle on March 13, 2008 at 12:42 AM

My impression is that Kerry is so out of the guy’s league intellectually

freevillage on March 13, 2008 at 12:34 AM

Yup, Kerry is a very smart cookie for sure.

That’s why he beat the dumb Texan in a landslide.

Oh wait.

MB4 on March 13, 2008 at 12:44 AM

So, freevillage, what do you have to say now?

Travis1 on March 13, 2008 at 12:47 AM

I still stick to my opinion of Kerry being an idiot. You seem like a nice guy/girl freevillage: what motivates you to spend time commenting on HotAir-an obvious conservative oriented format? Are you anywhere near conservative in ideology? Just curious.

Well, here, let me explain it to you.

I’m sorry to say you kind of failed.

“Unquestionable significance of a photograph in a section of a museum” cannot possibly be fairly summarized as a “memorial dedicated to Kerry”.

P.S.

Since you’re reading this, and I appreciate it very much (although some might assume I’m being insincere), let me note that your comments made, I think, during the 2004 campaign, where you insinuated that Kerry’s wounds could have been self-inflicted, were absolutely despicable.

Such comments give conservatives a bad name because they suggest you only support troops so long as you agree with their political agenda. Once they become your political enemies, nothing will stop you from destroying their proven accomplishments and honor. Yes, including Kerry’s honor.

Where I come from, a lot of WW2 veterans are communists and thus hold views that I frankly find simply vile. I heard comments like “If only Stalin were alive, he’d deal with you”. Yet while I had no problem telling them their words were disgusting, I never ever dared say something like: “how come you’re dragging your foot like that? Tried to escape the draft?” There’re lines you don’t cross.

I have respect for you and others on this site but certain things in the conservative movement pain me a great deal.

Freevillage: never mind, I just looked at your site. Say hello to Putin.

What did you see there that you interpreted as a sign of support for Putin? I mean other than the domain. I understand: .ru = commie.

freevillage on March 13, 2008 at 12:58 AM

Great video–I hope we’ll be seeing more of these, Michelle!

Yes. That was my insinuation. Are you?

carbon_footprint on March 13, 2008 at 1:00 AM

So, freevillage, what do you have to say now?

I strongly suspect that Shere Khan doesn’t need his faithful Tabaqui now. Relax.

freevillage on March 13, 2008 at 1:02 AM

Freevillage:BTW, you express yourself well. I don’t agree with you.

“Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime. He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation and now he is miscalculating America’s response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction. So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real.”
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

Freevillage, it was fun chatting with you…
Hope the post by Michelle has enabled you to know the truth. Sometimes, the truth hurts.
Have a good night.

I think you’re losing coherence. I’ll assume it’s because you’re an east-coaster like myself and we all need to go to bed.

Is there an english version/button for your website?

“бесспорное значение фотографии в раздел музея”, не могут быть достаточно кратко как “мемориал, посвященный Керри”.

Он также не может не быть достаточно исключать ни один из них, мой друг. Это significants в любом случае и вовсе погасить некоторые дань доброй сенатор.

I will be there with the Gathering of Eagles this weekend
to stand with our Soldiers/Vets to renounce this cut and paste propaganda that will make it’s way to Al-jazeera.Increasing hate for our military and putting our Soldiers at an even higher risk with the supposed “atrocities” being broadcast through the Muslim media.

When are all these morally superior liberals going to start protesting against the real enemies of freedom,THE TERRORIST!

The anti-war crowd will spend 4 days detailing crimes against humanity. Not one sign, video,or speech will condemn
the terrorist for the hundreds of thousands of men, women, and
children that they slaughter on a regular basis.

When Al-Qaeda erects it’s museum to honor those that helped them wage war against America, you can bet they will
honor Reid,Pelosi,Micheal Moore,Sheehan,hollywood,and code
pink for their efforts in undermining our troops and our President in the War on Terror.

Use translate.google.com

I’ve been reading his website…. interesting.

Sen. John Kerry, you are under citizen’s arrest for treason… by the way, where is your buddy Ted Kennedy?

Seven Percent Solution on March 13, 2008 at 1:16 AM

Those automatic translations are horrible. And I’m sufficiently fluent in English to read originals. I appreciate the effort, though.

No, there is no English button. It’s a website about politics, philosophy and libertarianism in particular. Unfortunately, we often have to deal with topics viewed as trivial here. Like, why free speech or elections (as opposed to what has just happened in Russia) are good ideas.

freevillage on March 13, 2008 at 12:57 AM

Kerry received his first purple heart for wounds suffered on 12/2/68…

In Kerry’s own journal written 9 days later, he writes he and his crew, quote, ‘hadn’t been shot at yet’.

If it wasn’t self inflicted, then what was it?

Buddahpundit on March 13, 2008 at 1:20 AM

No discussion of freedoms is every trivial, many people have and will continue to give their lives for this!

lol.

MB4 on March 13, 2008 at 1:25 AM

Google translations may be попало but the point gets across.

However, I would think you would appreciate the fallacy of what John Kerry represents and how a photograph of him in an enemy wartime museum pays him homage.
