Video: Hillary gets the call at 3 a.m.

Stupid or sly? The butt of the joke, ostensibly, is Her Majesty and the overblown aspersions she’s been casting on Obama’s fitness to lead, but in practice it’s five and a half minutes of him sounding like a buffoon while she keeps a steady hand on the wheel. The ‘Busters say it amounts to another de facto SNL ad for Hillary; I’m inclined to agree. Memo to the Messiah: Have your staff call Lorne ASAP and set up a cameo to stop the bleeding.

Welcome BACK!!!

I blogged my reaction to this skit.

Wow. I think they need to “help Hillary” more often…

Is Michelle Malkin going to vote for Hussein too?

Just wondering.

Though the comment (the advice) might be sarcastic (or not?) the fact that it is coming from a so-called “conservative” website like this one, is telling.

That’s all.

Indy Conservative on March 9, 2008 at 7:22 PM

Nice to see you back AP!

Mildly funny. I actually laughed a couple of times. It would have been better at about half the length :-)

As far as SNL helping Hillary. Not so much. Trying maybe.

another de facto SNL ad for Hillary

Indeed. SNL’s influence is starting to compete with the big shots of talk radio.

petefrt on March 9, 2008 at 7:26 PM

The only time I laughed was at her reaction to “Is Bill there?”

OneGyT on March 9, 2008 at 7:26 PM

I saw this clip over at Michelle’s late last night, and it made me laugh so hard! At my little bloggie, I embedded the clip, and proclaimed it ‘comedy gold’ for SNL, for a long-over due change.

When the “president” asks her, is Bill there, at 3am? Her answer is priceless~!

OneGyT on March 9, 2008 at 7:26 PM

Don’t forget the first shot showing her in the mask. Pretty good, although the screen shot gave it away.

If Obama has quit smoking, no doubt he’ll start back up again as President. That’s about as insightful as the piece got though!

No, it was not a joke, as far as I’m concerned.

Everything is calculated, evaluated and considered.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, even a “joke,” can pass without a study from the opposition.

You do have a point here in that Hillary’s brief appearance before Super Tuesday Two may have helped her just enough. She seemed human and when she does that I think it helps her a smidge. (smidge not in the spell checker but smidgen is!) Perhaps Obama could get a bit of a bump by laughing at himself a little.

The bit where Obama’s shocked that Putin, Chavez, Dinnerjacket, etc…would lie to him, and he’d buy all the up until it was too late seems like a fairly realistic depiction of the “World’s Most Inspiring Empty Suit”.

I’d like to say it’s funny, but it’s just too damn scarry to laugh about.

SuperCool on March 9, 2008 at 7:42 PM

Has anyone taken a viewpoint, or even the idea about
national secruity,yes I know it’s SNL,and yes it’s
sopposed to be funny, but the left are having a riot
with this.

I love comedy, however this is turning into a huge on-going
every Saturday night, getting repeated through word of mouth
through the week watercoolers of a Hillary Commercial!

And really who is Hillary talking to to get this gig,are you
telling me during an election Hillary will be on SNL till
NOV.4,and laying into McCain, and McCains only response is
yelling at the tv on Saturday night!

Like I said I love comedy, however Hillary has a free Political vechicle to continue her message, for free!

I know what I’m talking about. And there are lot of people who are reading this website. People who take advices from the Right and the Left, believe it or not.

Take for example, Bill O’Reilly, advising the Left all the time to pretend to be “fair.”

I believe in straight talk. Say what you mean and mean what you say.

There is a time for jokes.

And when the occasion arise, you can tell a joke and you know it’s a joke when it’s pure fiction not when it’s a possible, achievable advice.

Again, I thought I was the least to know about politics.

Maybe I should start a class.

Please read above what I wrote.

As for Rove and others so-called “republicans” who are advising Hussein (and Hillary), to pretend to be “fair” on Fox News, well, what can I say? Hypocrites? Liars? Or Straight-talkers?

You tell me.

But I know the answer.

And I don’t miss any fun when it’s made without irritable comments.

Oh trust me on this one.

I think after many months now of elections, you still didn’t know the American voters.

I do my own polling in my entourage and it’s not “fun.”

You think I’m attacking the idiot voters on this website and others without a good reason? Without evidence? Without seeing and hearing in person the idiocy of the American voter?

AP jokingly said that Obama should call Lorne Michaels. I don’t see the big offense.

Sarcasm is taken seriously on election year by the opposition. And why not? Hussein’s staff might do something to “stop the bleeding.”

Why not let him bleed??

Words are measured and steps are calculated on election year.

Indy Conservative on March 9, 2008 at 8:07 PM

Again the SNL skit was not at all the purpose of my comments.

Please read above what I wrote.

No, I understand. You took offense at AP’s comment that Obama should contact Lorne Michael’s and get on SNL. For that you accuse him and Michelle of supporting Obama? I understand where you are coming from, I just really really disagree. My example of Rove giving advice on FOXNews was met with this comment:

As for Rove and others so-called “republicans” who are advising Hussein (and Hillary), to pretend to be “fair” on Fox News, well, what can I say? Hypocrites? Liars? Or Straight-talkers?

You tell me.

My goodness! In my opinion you really do need to take it down a notch!

Rove analyzes the race. AP analyzes the race. We all analyze the race! Liars?, Hypocrites?, no. Analysis!

I guess your analysis is that they are helping the democrats. I guess you are entitled to your opinion, but to accuse AP and MM for supporting Obama, that’s a bit much.

According to this Rasmussen poll, most would want McCain to answer the call.

To me, it makes sense because Hillary would need find Bill, kick the latest Monica out of the way and get him to help.

Barack would have to call Hillary, who would need to find Bill, kick the latest Monica out of the way and get him to help.

McCain would probably be up anyway; that damned prostate!

When O’Reilly asked his guests to give advice -literally- to Hillary and Hussein, is it analyzing?

Indy Conservative on March 9, 2008 at 8:27 PM

I disagree. By answering the question, “what would you do if you were advising so-and-so..” adds insight to how strategery is formed. The thinking that goes into a political campaign. Kinda like watching a football pre-game show. The analysts are former players, coaches and other experts who analyze the strengths and weaknesses of each team. They predict the types of offensive and defensive schemes might be employed, etc. It’s a nice set-up to the game.

When Rove advised the President you didn’t see him on TV much. Now his job IS on TV! He’s just doing his job. Lighten up a little.

Besides, do you really think Obama’s campaign hasn’t considered whether to go on SNL or not? I think your tone doesn’t match the perceived offense here.

Ordinary1 on March 9, 2008 at 8:41 PM

No. You didn’t watch closely. It’s not predicting. It is giving advice. There are predictions and there are advices. Try to see the difference when you’re watching.

When an advice is laid down, it doesn’t matter if the opposing party will implement it or not. It was given and it might be used. And that’s the point.

mikeyboss on March 9, 2008 at 8:53 PM

Stupid or sly?

That’s an interesting question. Because the only people who are likely to get both angles are non-Democrats. Especially, to a non-Democrat, they seem to both be getting the business in this one. ‘O’ get’s the worst of it, but it superficially busts ‘H’ was well. Because of that, I think it’s pretty clever and funny stuff. It’s almost a parody of a parody of Dem politics, if you will. So does SNL have any closet ‘R’s on the team?

TO be fair, I think they should do a skit as Prez/VP, Obamalama arguing with Hil about all the promises about “co-leadership” she made. whining like a baby how’s he going to get experience meeting other VPs at VIP funerals…

I agree with another poster that said although they gave Hil some digs, most probably went over the heads of most Dems - cause they were actually funny and short. Really overdid the skit to the point where Obamalama seemed all too real.

The only time I laughed was at her reaction to “Is Bill there?”

OneGyT on March 9, 2008 at 7:26 PM

That’s the only line that the audience laughed at, too. Only way I could tell it wasn’t a laugh track.

I thought it was hilarious, the whole thing. I’m surprised the audience of Obama drones didn’t boo it.

Congratulations Allah.

Hollowpoint on March 9, 2008 at 10:04 PM

Yeah! He’s gone for just a day or two and the world falls apart.

Kini on March 9, 2008 at 11:10 PM

Hmmm…I don’t think Hillary enjoyed this skit as much as the one last week.

Shut up and go make gyros with Tziziki sauce.

Laugh Now; Cry Later

This video was posted early this morning on I think MM’s site.
I thought it was pretty funny but I think Tina Fey is WAY over-rated.

It seems rather fair to me, and almost too realistic. Just wish they hadn’t had the little disclaimer right after the “dramatization.”

One criticism: A better suggestion would be for him to call up his Jihadist family and friends to set up something against Iran. The problem is, he’d more likely just call them to pass on the good news.

Tommygun on March 10, 2008 at 5:15 AM

Welcome back AP!

This stretched out a little too long, but the “Is Bill home?” “It’s 3 am, what do you think?” bit was priceless.

BKennedy on March 10, 2008 at 5:25 AM

“show them our intelligence”? If the Obama or Hill gets the presidency, will we even be allowed gather any?

Bigfoot on March 10, 2008 at 7:35 AM

The best part of the clip: listening to the SNL audience tittering during that skit. “Should we laugh? Is it right to laugh at another liberal’s expense?!”

Malpaso on March 10, 2008 at 8:05 AM

Really?

Hussein’s staff might heed the “joke.”

No, it was not a joke, as far as I’m concerned.

What is considered “joke” on election year, is never a joke.

Everything is calculated, evaluated and considered.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, even a “joke,” can pass without a study from the opposition.

Got it?

Why do I have to teach “pundits?”

I thought they know everything.

“You know, Jerry, there are a lot of decaffinated brands on the market that taste just as good as the real thing.”
“I’m not kidding, Chris.”
“Neither am I, Jerry.”

shibumiglass on March 10, 2008 at 8:32 AM

I am sure Michelle Obama hates the blatantly racist and white-controlled Saturday Night Live.

rockbend on March 10, 2008 at 8:38 AM

What is considered “joke” on election year, is never a joke.

This year, all three currently viable possibilities are jokes. Its “Alien vs Predator” — no matter who wins, we lose.

Purple Avenger on March 10, 2008 at 10:39 AM

If Hillary got the call at 3AM, there’s very little of it which would not have to be “bleeped”.

Remember the accounts of her dealings with the Secret Service and the military while Bill was in office? She hates the military so much that she wouldn’t quit swearing and ranting at the caller until the noise of the bombs going off in DC drowned out the conversation….and then she wouldn’t have the faintest idea what to do: no time to round up a focus group, either.

landlines on March 10, 2008 at 12:04 PM

Sarcasm is taken seriously on election year by the opposition. And why not? Hussein’s staff might do something to “stop the bleeding.”
Why not let him bleed??
Words are measured and steps are calculated on election year.

Indy Conservative on March 9, 2008 at 8:07 PM

You’ve really made an @ss out of yourself for no apparent reason. You must be new. Welcome, and please calm down.

1. AP has said over and over again that Republicans should cross over to keep Hillary in the race.

2. If Obama wants to win, he should see about getting on SNL. Isn’t that simply stating the obvious?

3. Who cares if they (assuming “they” would ever even read this blog) take AP’s advice? This isn’t war. It’s just an election, an election where we have no worthwhile picks anyway.

4. No one cares what his middle name is. Really. No. One. It’s a stupid name. I once dated a guy who didn’t even have a middle name. You’re basically getting worked up because of a name that means “good looking.” Wow. That’s really a threat to our national security. And really, I love Ann Coulter and read her columns every week. I even hosted a group about her for a year. But even still, she’s not helping anything by constantly calling him B. Hussein Obama.

Esthier on March 10, 2008 at 12:42 PM

If Bill is in the same bed, he will insist on taking the phone.

Starlink on March 10, 2008 at 1:01 PM

I’d like to say it’s funny, but it’s just too damn scarry to laugh about.

SuperCool on March 9, 2008 at 7:42 PM

My thoughts exactly, the skit would be funny if it weren’t so true and un-nerving. Especially true is the reference to Obama being shocked that Iran, NK, et al would lie to him after he (as he said he would do if elected) in good faith “talked” with them, which as most with half a functioning brain cell know would be a mistake as they (dinner jacket, etc.) cannot be trusted especially on such matters as nuke weapons and terrorism.
