As stated above, I too hope McCain throws a bone to us conservatives with his VP choice. I think the Alaska gov would be nice, and a good counterpoint the the affirmative action ticket of the socialist party.

McCain is a friend of the show, hes even hosted once. It like Stewart, he gives Mac favorable treatment. He and Huckabee have been on hos and Colberts show more than anyone else.

As an aside, does anyone remember when SNL was actually funny? I am feeling mighty olde everytime I see that show…

I’m not a McCain fan, but given the choices, he’s got my vote. That’s the least I can do for my country and my children. Otherwise, it’s going to be a free for all on so many levels: Supreme Court justices, national security, economy,taxes, spending, gay marriage, etc.

I admire much about Teddy Roosevelt too, but don’t forget: In addition to being a Republican and kind of a ‘maverick’ too;

I know McCain is a fan of Teddy’s, but I just don’t see broad appeal in the ad. The portion of the ad pertaining to McCain as a POW is VERY powerful; I’d go with the latter part of the ad.

The USA is in charge of the outcome! One party wants to win, and the other party wants to give up and hand victory to the other side.

He clearly states, “We’re Americans; we’ll never surrender, they will!” The they is almost certainly ‘jihadists’ in this sense.

And to eeyore – It doesn’t matter whether or not they’re intent on giving it up any time soon. There are only two outcomes to the Long War:

1) We surrender
2) They surrender

I believe that’s what McCain is saying here. Either by force of our diplomacy, force of out culture, of our democracy, or good old-fashioned force of arms, the jihadists must be defeated. They’re not simply going to go away. We have to force them to surrender, and the first step to that is refusing to surrender ourselves.
