Top Obama advisor: Hillary’s a “monster”

Truth is an absolute defense to libel.
[Samantha] Power told The Scotsman Mrs Clinton was stopping at nothing to try to seize the lead from Mr Obama.
“We f***** up in Ohio,” she admitted. “In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio’s the only place they can win.
“She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything,” Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark.
“Interestingly, the people in her innermost circle seem to not mind her; I think they really love her.”…
“You just look at her and think: ergh. But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive.”
She’ll have some fun with this tomorrow as an example of Obama’s fresh, new, “healing” tone. As for that horrible idea to play to Obama’s strength by holding a do-over caucus in Michigan in lieu of a primary, the monster has at last bared her fangs. And not just her, either. Over to you, Dean-o.
Update: Speaking of monsters, I’ve used the “King Kong clinging to the Empire State Building” analogy for our gal at least twice before. Let this make three. She’s going to fall, it’s just a matter of when:
We know that Hillary is unlikely to quit. This will leave it up to the superdelegates to figure out how to settle on a nominee. With 205 already committed to Obama, he would need another 200 uncommitted superdelegates to get to the magic number of 2025 delegates needed to nominate. But that’s only under my crazy pro-Hillary projections. More likely, Obama would need about 50-100 of the approximately 500 uncommitted superdelegates, which shouldn’t be too difficult.

This Powers person will probably hold a position of power and influence in any B. Hussein Obama administration. If she is an example of what his Presidency would bring, this nation would be in serious trouble with that outcome. We had better hope Obama gets indicted after the Rezko trial.

A subtle point with regard to media conventions:
If you want to talk off the record, you have to say “off the record” FIRST.
If you try to back up, and ask the reporter to consider your comments to be “off the record,” it’s up to the reporter (whether they’re in the tank for your candidate or not, basically)
So Sam Powers has:
1 – advocated the invasion of Israel
2 – advocated ethnic cleansing in Iraq
3 – called Hillary Clinton a “monster”
Which do you think will cause the most outrage in Democrats?
If you answered “3, but only if they are Hillary supporters, otherwise they don’t care” you win a prize!
Bonus Question: if Senator Obama’s camp can call Hillary a “monster,” what sort of words can Senator Clinton’s team now use on Barack?
daryl_herbert on March 6, 2008 at 9:20 PM
There are some real “monsters” in the world. If Obama cant’t handle Hillary……
easy on March 6, 2008 at 9:21 PM
They taught me in journo school you never talk to anybody “off the record” unless they have some top secret information and lives are in in danger. Bottom line: Don’t say anything in front of reporter if you don’t want to see it in print.

The USS Democrat- “Full Speed Ahead!”
Now that Hillary has had her big night Tuesday, winning Ohio and Texas (and cutting only about 8 delegates off Obama’s lead), the Democratic Party is heading for a possible disaster.
First of all, Hillary’s campaign is pushing for the Florida and Michigan delegates to be seated. That, of course, would represent a changing of the rules in the middle of the game. Is a compromise in the works? That may come in the form of a do-over, letting the primary be repeated, the reasoning here being that Obama did not really compete in those primaries. Also not yet decided is who would pay for the repeat primaries? No one seems to be stepping up on that front.
Then there is the matter of the Superdelegates, who have the option of voting however they wish in Denver regardless of which candidate has won the most primary delegates. How does Hillary justify that action? Easy (according to her). The New York Senator argues that the momentum is now going her way and she has won most of the big states, like New York, California and Texas. Thus, the superdelegates should vote for her even if Obama goes into the convention with the lead.
Like Rush Limbaugh, many conservatives (including me) are enjoying the sight of the Democrats rushing head-long toward the yawning crevice. As things appear now, Obama will, in fact, enter the convention with a delegate lead. If Hillary somehow succeeds in recapturing those delegates from Michigan and Florida, that will not sit well with Obama supporters. To use a football analogy, let’s say that one team had two touchdowns negated by penalties in the first quarter. Then in the fourth quarter, with that team down by 10 points, the refs decided to reverse those penalties and give those touchdowns back. Would that be fair? Hardly. If the Democratic voters of Florida and Michigan have their votes negated, they should direct their anger at their state political leaders who broke the party rules and caused the problem. Even with Florida and Michigan reinstated, Obama will still probably enjoy a delegate lead.
That leaves the Superdelegates, elected Congresspeople, senators and party hacks. Will they really adjourn to a smoke-filled room and overrule the voice of the Democratic voters who voted for Obama-especially the African-American voters? For Hillary to get the nomination in such a fashion will leave one-half of the Democratic voters furious and disillusioned. Will they just get over it and turn out for Hillary in the general election? I don’t think so.
And most importantly, what will be the reaction of the African-American voters who voted for Obama? For decades, they have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, believing that only the Democrats would represent their interests. Will they conclude that they have been residing on the Democratic “plantation”, as many observers, black and white maintain? Will they decide that black interests would be better served by making all parties compete for their votes-and giving real consideration to other parties?
Nevertheless, the Democrats appear unable to avoid the disaster on the horizon. From listening to Clinton and her supporters, it appears that the Clintons will do what they have always done; they will fight tooth and nail to the bitter end. That means if they have to twist arms, make deals and blackmail Superdelegates in Denver, then that is exactly what they will do. For the Clintons, it is not about the party; it is about them.

I wonder what history will make of all this. The Democrats have Obama and his wife, raised to feel like victims, full of guilt over being given a priviledged path in life based solely on their race, and full of animosity against their own country fueled by weekly sermons by their spiritual advisor, a black racist. Why did Obama jump into the race so soon? Is he subconsciously hoping to lose, thereby validate his being a black victim? Or is he, rather, trying to improve his low sense of self-worth after being abandoned by his father? Then there’s Hillary, raised by an overly strict father whom she apparently emotionally left to receive guidance from a softer, left-wing minister who found his country lacking in sufficient compassion. Is she so determined to prove herself superior to her father that she had to marry a man she could manipulate, become a radical feminist, and lust for power? Where is her moral core? Or has it been buried under darker needs? Then there’s John McCain, the man who had to prove himself worthy of his father and grandfather. One gets the impression that he rebelled early, proving more playboy than warrior, but was brought to his sense of duty and honor in a Vietnamese prison camp. Does he need to prove his worth to his father after that time in the crucible? Does Obama or Hillary have any comparable life experience that would remold them into either a broken down wretch or transform them into someone with nothing left to prove? Which of these three will history most likely look back upon as the savior of America?
NNtrancer on March 6, 2008 at 9:45 PM
Who is the “monster” and who is the disaster?
Hussein Barack’s proposed Foreign Policy:
1 – Hussein Barack has opposed listing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization.
2 – Hussein Barack proposed a bargain with Syria’s rulers.
3 – Hussein Barack is prepared to ignore two UN Security Council resolutions that require Iran to stop its uranium-enrichment program as a precondition for talks at the highest level.
4 – Hussein Barack has campaigned for a formal congressional move to prevent Bush from taking any military action against Tehran.
You idiots who are attacking Hillary ans wishing her defeat are working against America and siding with Islamic terrorism.
Go cheer for that Muslim who will hug terrorists in the Black House.
People lost their mind.

Would this Samantha Power have any “power” in a hopefully hypothetical Obama administration? When she goes spewing to foreign journalists that the Obama campaign “effed up” and calling a candidate from her own party a “monster”? While Hillary has done some “monstrous” things, Power labels her a “monster” for pointing out the hypocrisy of Obama’s saying he would renegotiate NAFTA and telling the Canadians that it’s just campaign rhetoric? Pointing out an opponent’s self-contradiction is not monstrous–it’s fair game in a political campaign!
Remember, this is the candidate of hope and sweetness and light, who was going to diplomatically sweet-talk all the real monsters of the world into being America’s pals and bosom buddies! But real diplomats don’t throw words like “monster” and “effed up” around lightly in the foreign press–you never know how real monsters might react.
Obama effed up all right, by hiring Power!

“TheBigOldDog” has a point. It was the European press that caused Samantha Power to go off the deep end, and the European press that published the timeline about Iraqi Auchi’s several multi-million dollar loans to Rezko. Auchi lent $14 million to Rezko in 2005, Rezko is broke in 2006, and Auchi lends him $7 million more in 2007. Why did Auchi throw good money after bad at Rezko, and what did he hope to gain for his millions? Could this question be asked in court?
The American media have been fawning over the Oba-Messiah for months, about people fainting in his path and Oprah telling us the Kingdom of Heaven has come to earth (gee, I thought we didn’t have a king in the USA), and it takes the Europeans and the Canadians to tell us about the man behind the myth. Maybe we owe them a debt of gratitude for sparing us an Obama Administration.
Obama has been coasting along on his exalted words of “hope” and “change” and “inspiration”, but a true leader needs to surround himself with competent advisors. After seeing Samantha Power and Austan Goolsbee, Americans, even Democrats, might have their doubts about an Obama Administration! Are we on the verge of an Obama meltdown? or
