What a brave young man! My thanks to him and his wife for their service. He is the kind that give me hope for the future. Thanks also to Purtee and Crist they went above and beyond to save Jeffreys life at the risk of their own. What an inspiring, well written story.

I sure hope Jeffrey comes back to the US, we need people like him here!

People forget that both the Roman and Civil Wars were won by rushing battalions of German and Celtic recruits into battle. There are a lot of bored and marginalized European kids who would be happy to serve in our armed forces if offered an easier path to citizenship–we should be opening recruiting centers in cities like London and Berlin and offering Green Cards upon completion of their first tour. Who knows–they might have less of a chance of getting bombed than those on our own soil.

Jameldine will undergo another surgery to repair the damage to his jaw and teeth. Ullrich Fichtner describes the miracle of Jameldine’s survival after the bullet shattered the teeth and lower jaw on the right side of his face, and exited out behind his left temple. His face looks remarkably normal, Fichtner reports, but the damage to bone, muscle, and nerve has been extensive and will require years of reconstructive surgery to repair. Nevertheless, Jameldine believes his sacrifice to be necessary, as the argument with his father shows.
