Video: Blogger moved to tears by awesomeness of new machine gun
posted at 2:50 pm on March 5, 2008 by Allahpundit
It’s like the iPod of automatic weapons. Enjoy the idea of things getting sufficiently “nasty” while you’re out for a stroll that you’d need one of these in your back pocket.
Somewhere right now, someone’s showing this video to Justice Kennedy. And his vote is being decided.

Dude. No, DUDE!!!!!
That’s going on my Christmas list this year. I’d better be really, really good.

I’m not sure how long my mouth has been hanging open. I hate that feeling.
TexasDan on March 5, 2008 at 2:54 PM
Nice but design, but I think the front grip is dangerously short. Decent enough change to put a bullet point blank through your own left index finger if you get set-up to quickly with it.
Dr. Manhattan on March 5, 2008 at 2:55 PM
American as apple pie. I’ll take two.

Guys do that with MP-5′s too. It’s a short gun.
Note also, AP, that it’s semi-auto as advertised, with room for the auto-sear.
TexasDan on March 5, 2008 at 2:58 PM
No. words. too. awesome.

Its always good to see a flash of good news in this world. Awesome.
Grafted on March 5, 2008 at 3:00 PM
SWEET! It would’ve been even cooler if a barrel extended out of the front with a cool clicking sound.
Tony737 on March 5, 2008 at 3:00 PM
whose neighborhood is that nasty? That’s the question.
lorien1973 on March 5, 2008 at 3:00 PM
Too bad they’re not gonna develope it.

Like a switch blade machine gun.
Make them out of 10 karat gold and you got the bling gangsta rapper market cornered.
I’m glad I live in an area where such device is seldom necessary.
BL@KBIRD on March 5, 2008 at 3:03 PM
“No plans to manufacture!” Until it made its way to HotAir!
Get real dude! It’s not meant as an assault rifle.
It’s nothing more than a GlockFormer or TransGlocker!
Either way, it’s one nice holster! Better for Christmas than an iPhone!
Dread Pirate Roberts VI on March 5, 2008 at 3:04 PM
Both the flashlight and the machine gun are useful for entering a dark room.
Mike Antonucci on March 5, 2008 at 3:04 PM
Totally freakin awesomely awesome.

Looks good for warren of rabbits but it needs a ‘nade attachment for when I’m fishing.
Dusty on March 5, 2008 at 3:04 PM
Seriously. If you need one of these to take your dog for a walk in the neighborhood, you really need to think about moving to a different neighborhood . . . quickly.

MarkoMancuso on March 5, 2008 at 3:13 PM
‘ts a SUB muchine gun, not a machine gun. Big difference.
Aristotle on March 5, 2008 at 3:13 PM
Cool firearm, but that guy makes me nervous every time he has the business end pointing at his torso! Always assume the thing is loaded and never point it at anything you don’t want to shoot and kill…
LibbyLA on March 5, 2008 at 3:14 PM
MAJOR difference! Everyone knows it’s illegal to own a machineg gun!
Re: The smallest revolver in the world! How do you suppose you get your finger inside the trigger guard?
Dread Pirate Roberts VI on March 5, 2008 at 3:16 PM
Okay, then, can someone tell me the weapon’s and/or the manufacturer’s name so I can Google around to look for it?

Knowing how the Boston Metropolitan area responds to anything remotely electronic, you just have to know that after this, anything made of metal, finished in mat black is going to be a machine gun.
rockhauler on March 5, 2008 at 3:21 PM
FMG 9 FEVER HITS THE WEB. Yes, it is SUPPOSED to be a sub machinegun, but as is it is NOT a sub machinegun. Only with an auto sear would the action be fully automatic.
jimbo2008 on March 5, 2008 at 3:21 PM
It’s only a prototype.
ronsfi on March 5, 2008 at 3:21 PM
Add a church key and corkscrew. Maybe an MP3 player for a bit of Jim Morrison or Wagner. This could out strip Google stock.
Limerick on March 5, 2008 at 3:22 PM
What’s that in your pocket?…
A machine gun.
As my constitutional right I will own one of those.
regal on March 5, 2008 at 3:23 PM
I was thinking the same thing! It is cool though!
Aggie85 on March 5, 2008 at 3:23 PM
BHO will now be able to go to the gas station without risking being shot, Michelle will be relieved. She can finally be proud of her country!
trs on March 5, 2008 at 3:24 PM
Still…it’s only a 9mm.
pseudonominus on March 5, 2008 at 3:25 PM
It’s a Magpul prototype–basically a glock pistol with a fold-under stock. The stock is spring-loaded, and since the folded-up contraption looks like a plastic rectangle (utterly un-gunlike) when it snaps out into a weapon..well, as noted above..it’s awesome.
The top appears to be fitted out with a carry handle/flashlight gismo. Presumably the carry handle is a sight as well, and it all detaches.
TexasDan on March 5, 2008 at 3:26 PM
Magpul
pseudonominus on March 5, 2008 at 3:27 PM
I’d give up my tax rebate for that !

Isn’t a magpul? I like the masada, too.
ConstantSorrow on March 5, 2008 at 3:28 PM
shaken on March 5, 2008 at 3:28 PM
it
ConstantSorrow on March 5, 2008 at 3:28 PM
The reason they can’t build it is that the barrel is too short to be a rifle, and we can’t abide the notion of stocks on pistols in this country.
Makes ‘em extra specially lethally dangerous.
Presumably they could offer them and we could all get the SBR stamp, which would add $200?
TexasDan on March 5, 2008 at 3:29 PM
isn’t it a magpul….Tex beat me to it
ConstantSorrow on March 5, 2008 at 3:30 PM
Going to be built by bushmaster–the masada.
TexasDan on March 5, 2008 at 3:30 PM

Boy, can’t wait till my stimulus check comes….
Patriot811 on March 5, 2008 at 3:34 PM
Isn’t that the idea, though? Cause criminals to second guess whether or not that guy is carrying a laptop or a sub machine gun? Will that lady reach into her pocket and pull out a shotgun? The threat of violence by criminals causes good citizens to live in fear. Maybe the threat of violence by good citizens should cause criminals to live in fear.
Spc Steve on March 5, 2008 at 3:34 PM
Okee dokee! Magpul does make some really cool stuff; Masada rifle, nearly indestructable magazines…
Frozen Tex on March 5, 2008 at 3:35 PM
heh, he said stimulus
ConstantSorrow on March 5, 2008 at 3:36 PM
Say, is anyone else reminded of “Robocop 2″? The evil kid’s ghettoblaster/submachine gun?
Frozen Tex on March 5, 2008 at 3:37 PM
Can you get the VT school emblem on the side?
Dread Pirate Roberts VI on March 5, 2008 at 3:38 PM
How do you chamber a round?
liberrocky on March 5, 2008 at 3:45 PM
When you see the higher-rez pictures of it, though, it actually does look like a folded-up gun. You can easily see the shell ejection port and other typically gun-like features. It’s cool, but I don’t think you’d legally be able to walk around the neighborhood with one–I highly doubt it’d meet criteria for concealment.
Blacklake on March 5, 2008 at 3:47 PM
Yeah, when you look at the pictures on the site Ronsfi linked to, it looks like Magpul hacked up a Glock to make the thing, and it’s still fairly obvious it’s a gun…
Now, if they made it in DayGlo orange…
Frozen Tex on March 5, 2008 at 3:51 PM
VIDEO NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
Hmmm…..

Lorien, I live in a neighborhood that is that nasty. Almost the whole neighborhood is illegal aliens and gang members. I have been living here for thirty years and I cannnot afford to move. Fortunately, Texas has a concealed carry law.

Dear Santa….
Sanjoboy on March 5, 2008 at 4:14 PM
It looks like someone has finally decided to build real versions of certain ‘60s toys (not that this device isn’t unusually neat) that we all wanted, but couldn’t have, because they didn’t exist.
Back in the mid-60, Mattel made a series of cap guns of roughly this style (I forget the product name; apparently it was “Agent Zero M”). The largest was the Sonic Blaster, a bazooka-esque device that shot a blast of air. The smallest was a pocket-knife design.
I had the portable radio that opened up in a style similar to the weapon on the video; a barrel popped out one end, and the lower speaker section released and pivoted to become a stock and reveal the grip.
Is there room for a flashlight/laser pointer under the barrel? I have an 8-LED with built-in laser pointer (about the size of 2 C-cells, end to end) that looks like a fit.
Arbalest on March 5, 2008 at 4:18 PM
I’ll loan them my Glock if they’ll convert it over for me to test. :D

Bitchin! And I love the adjective transformeresque.

From ronsfi’s link.
TexasDan on March 5, 2008 at 4:25 PM
Great gun porn.
Nice opening action. Spring-loaded, clicks into position, quick to ready.
Appalling collapse action. Needs lots of work.
Love the idea of the flashlight/handle combo. Great for early/late walks or a glovebox. The back pocket demo was gimmicky – too clumsy – but a great emphasis of the sleek design.
LimeyGeek on March 5, 2008 at 4:26 PM
I love it.
Virus-X on March 5, 2008 at 4:33 PM
Just think… you can attach a retractable leash to it with one of those dorky zipper pockets on the side and no one would know the difference when in the dog park…
I’ll take two – one to go and one gift-wrapped for the wife!

On a similar note, check out what the wife and I got at the gun show last weekend. Yes, we have “His and Hers” switchblades. The word you’re looking for is “adorkable.”

Oh man, that thing is just chock full of WANT!!
corbettw on March 5, 2008 at 4:53 PM
They stole this idea from the movie Robocop II. There’s a druglord kid in the movie who has what looks like a blue lunchbox but folds out just like this into a submachine gun.
