Exit polls are just starting to trickle in. Nothing yet by way of hard data but — surprise — voters in both Texas and Ohio find Obama to be more electable, per Fox News. We’ve had the first reports of dirty tricks too, courtesy of pro-Hillary TalkLeft. And Huck is complaining about the lack of energy on behalf of McCain among the GOP base, even as Maverick prepares to put him to sleep tonight and turn his attention fully to the, ahem, purple states.
Ed and I are going to try to co-liveblog it via the Cover It Live widget below. (Thanks to Patrick Ishmael for the tip.) It’s our first time using it so bear with us. Things should heat up starting at 7 p.m. ET. While you wait, enjoy the results of this poll suggesting whom voters really trust at 3 a.m. Exit quotation one: “I didn’t get my hands dirty making all those good things happen in the ’90s.” Exit quotation two: America is a country that’s “just downright mean.”

Why not cheer Democrat indecision and infighting? WooHoo!
darii on March 4, 2008 at 10:56 PM
You’re right…let’s hope it’s so close and bloody that there will be riots in the streets when the Hildebeast steals the nomination.
SaintOlaf on March 4, 2008 at 10:58 PM
YES.
It’s what some of us conservatives have been trying to tell the rest of you, when some of you were flirting with supporting Obama just because you have old-school hatred of all things Clinton.
The Democrats did the improbable this year, and actually found someone MORE LIBERAL than Hillary. YES. Really. They found someone WORSE than she is.
This is why I’m hoping she stays in, and eventually wins the nomination - but at the least, this is going to cause several more weeks of Democrat infighting, which can only be good for us.
Vyce on March 4, 2008 at 10:58 PM
Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks. Sorry about that Bishop. I guess I’m about as hip as you.

Yes, why not? Let them tear each other to shreds, spend Hollywood’s money and generally scare the shat out of anyone who watches their antics.
The Repub campaign ads are practically writing themselves.
Bishop on March 4, 2008 at 10:59 PM
Sorry about that. You do know about the Spring Hill campaign, don’t you? It’s vote for her in the spring, shower afterwards, and do not repeat.
steveegg on March 4, 2008 at 10:59 PM
Yep, yep!
Although I am beginning to have second thoughts about this Hillary crossover vote now that it looks like even the Dems are seeing the absence of light coming from Obama.
Vigilante on March 4, 2008 at 10:59 PM
Dude. Step away from the bong, get some sleep, and come back fresh in the morning. You are WAY too dark with this crap. You can go that way if you want to, but I won’t.
You don’t prevail by giving up. I’m not fatalistic. I’ve got more faith in the American People than you. Hell, we survived 8 years of the clintoons. We’ll survive a McC presidency.
Enjoy your fetal postition.

OK, people! McCain got the GOP nomination.
That’s it. The Huck is dropping out. The End.
Let’s move on, and stop whining!

Yeap time to stay home. Being a Rep it seems no longer means what it use to. Now its just for the rich fat cats to get cheap labor. Bush destroyed the Rep party and it looks like McCain is coming to finish off what’s left. the South is now inplay for the Dems. Look for Hillary or BHO to pick up a couple southern states this time around.

That, and open primaries so independents and dems can cross over and force McCain upon us, which was a big part of it in the early states.
TexasDan on March 4, 2008 at 11:03 PM
Lo and behold, I think Bill actually helped Hillary. By his saying, “If we(sic) lose TX & OH, she should be outta here, but if she wins, she’ll be the nominee,” now Hillary can claim momentum and better appeal to super delegates and the final dozen primary States.
G. Charles on March 4, 2008 at 11:03 PM

F15Mech on March 4, 2008 at 11:05 PM
Bush the First began the process of destroying Reagan’s Conservative Coalition the minute he took office. Then Clinton moved to the center, all the while slowly make moves to the left. Perot did his part, suckering righties and lefties to deny the Repubs a victory in ‘96. Bush the Second sucked everyone to the middle with the War on Terror and his just-say-yes to the overblown budgets to just about finish off the conservatives, by screwing up the restructuring of Iraq, pushing more centrists to the left.
McCain will finish off the Conservative Movement.
Liberty is dead. It’s all over but the dirt-throwin’.
mksmithwriter on March 4, 2008 at 11:05 PM
I think Obama on his own would be easier to beat. But if the candidate is Hillary, the youth vote will disappear back into the woodwork. That youth vote would wallop us unless McCain picks a VP that charges some of them up on our side.

You got that part right for sure. But the rest I don’t agree with..the dems won’t get the south or win the general…we’re looking at a president Mcshame folks.
And that’s bad enough as it is.

Amen! Besides, McCain will have a new adversary if elected President: Congress. Perhaps his love of sticking his finger in Republicans’ eyes can be transfered over to sticking his finger into the peepers of a Democratic Congress. I hope.
darii on March 4, 2008 at 11:10 PM
You obviously don’t count on a newer generation of GOP leaders coming up! There are lots of us under 40 who can - and will - take power someday. Heck! There’s a certain governor of a certain Southern state who looks like he can swipe the Electoral College someday! (Take a wild guess!)
This kind of pessimism sickens me.

Things are cyclical. Tyranny is cast down, tyranny rises up. Liberty dies, and is born out of the ashes of its own death. The earth cools, the earth warms. Each generation thinks it sees everything in a unique time, with unique problems, and desire unique solutions. But the problems are the same, the solutions are the same, and the inevitable failures are always the same. We are the same people we were 4 thousand years ago. It’s the same earth it was 4 million years ago.
Of course what I’m saying has already been said before, too. Read Ecclesiastes. It was old, even then.
Eat. Drink. Be happy. Trust in God and keep your powder dry. Everything dies, regardless.
All of this is completely true, all of it is completely false. The past shapes the future just like the present shapes the past. Choose whichever you want, but know that even that choice is an illusion.
Almost as much of an illusion as the choice we have in candidates now.
But I’ll hold my nose and vote for McCain, regardless. I can safely justify a vote against either Hillary! or Obama!. Just don’t expect a vote for any of ‘em. That I can’t give.

It isn’t dead, its just suffering from a bit of malaise. There are still real conservatives in the houses and if anything, a McCain presidency will make it even more important that we support real conservatives in the chambers.
Buck up little camper, the same things were being said after Perot screwed-up the race in 1992.
