Exit polls are just starting to trickle in. Nothing yet by way of hard data but — surprise — voters in both Texas and Ohio find Obama to be more electable, per Fox News. We’ve had the first reports of dirty tricks too, courtesy of pro-Hillary TalkLeft. And Huck is complaining about the lack of energy on behalf of McCain among the GOP base, even as Maverick prepares to put him to sleep tonight and turn his attention fully to the, ahem, purple states.

Ed and I are going to try to co-liveblog it via the Cover It Live widget below. (Thanks to Patrick Ishmael for the tip.) It’s our first time using it so bear with us. Things should heat up starting at 7 p.m. ET. While you wait, enjoy the results of this poll suggesting whom voters really trust at 3 a.m. Exit quotation one: “I didn’t get my hands dirty making all those good things happen in the ’90s.” Exit quotation two: America is a country that’s “just downright mean.”

Corruption in Cuyahouga county is ohio’s worst kept secret. Only Philly and Chicago do it better.

William Amos on March 4, 2008 at 10:36 PM

If you use sales tax as a basis for judging levels of corruption, Chicago wins.

Thanks, Barak.

“Is liberty dead? Anyone? - Bishop on March 4, 2008 at 10:30 PM”

For my continued $0.02……… it depends on what party and canidate you want to win. If you are a Democrat and want a “Nanny State” to do everything for you, including telling you where to live and what to do for work, then the answer is “yes”.

If you are a Conservative Republican, and you want the freedom to live, raise your family in Freedom, and persue greatness unfettered by bureaucratic resistance, then NO! Liberty is NOT Dead!!!!

Seven Percent Solution on March 4, 2008 at 10:38 PM

Now that the race is down to only three democrats and no conservatives it’s time to start a new party!

Is anybody excited about Mccain at all?

Are we supposed to be excited that a democrat won the republican nomination?

Hopefully he will not be stupid enough to nominate Bishop Romney as his VP…because if does I will DEFINITELY not vote for him under any circumstances.

SaintOlaf on March 4, 2008 at 10:29 PM

I’m sorry, is that “SaintOlaf” or SaintOAF?”

What do you call a religious bigot? Gotta’ be a word for it. You know, you’re the guy that got us into this mess, your bigotry against Mormons - along with your buddy Huckster - is what got us into this mess.

Well, as you Libs are about to find out, when I say “Liberty is dead” - I mean it’s dead for EVERYBODY! The churches will be the first to fall. Then those godless actors in Hollywood.

Well, some good does come out of the bad, huh?

mksmithwriter on March 4, 2008 at 10:38 PM

And remember…Ronald Reagan granted blanket amnesty back in the day. Keep the dream alive, but 12-20 million illegals aren’t going to be mass deporoted by any POTUS. It’s just not going to happen.

JetBoy on March 4, 2008 at 10:36 PM

First of all, the Reagan excuse is old. He called it amnesty, for starters. He also tried it on much fewer people, before most knew whether or not the plan would work. What’s the excuse 20 years after it failed, trying again?

amerpundit on March 4, 2008 at 10:39 PM

Hillary just behind under 4,000 votes in texas

William Amos on March 4, 2008 at 10:39 PM

Keep the dream alive, but 12-20 million illegals aren’t going to be mass deported by any POTUS. It’s just not going to happen.

I think Tanc would personally drive them all down to Tijuana in a mass convoy of Astro vans, just like the one’s they got here in.

And McCain has already promised to do just that.

Where else have I heard the phrase “I was for it before I was against it!”?

Ronald Reagan granted blanket amnesty back in the day.

Everybody makes mistakes. I think it’s insulting to suggest he would support it today.

Sounds like you’re the one in despair: “Do the next right thing.” And who provides you with that next right thing? The guy that’s selling you - and US - out!

Yeah, you may not know everything - neither do I. But doesn’t sound like you know much. ‘Cause you settle…for the next right thing.

I don’t rely on my presidential candidate to help me do the next right thing. I try to draw inspiration from a little higher than that.

And, no - it’s more like the opposite of despair.

mikeyboss on March 4, 2008 at 10:40 PM

Branch Rickey on March 4, 2008 at 10:31 PM

Hey, I’m with you on the concern. But handing all three branches of the government to outright socialist/marxist who will disarm us when we’re at war seems to me in no way a wise thing for the country.

I’m not enthusiastic about McC at all. But I think the country can survive 4 years of his leadership better than what the dems will bring.

I’m not telling you to shut up and get in line. Not in the least. And I’ll be right there with you holding McC’s feet to the fire whenever possible and necessary. I just can’t give the country over, willingly, to people I am confident will destroy it. I don’t think McC will actually destroy the country. He won’t be great for it. But he won’t kill it either.

William Amos on March 4, 2008 at 10:43 PM

Liberty died under Wilson. It’s all just been slow decomposition since.
Some democratic Marius will force through universal health care with proscriptions and death squads in the next generation, and then it’ll be just a matter of time before liberty is swallowed by empire, and empire is swallowed by its own incompetance. All that’s old becomes new again.

Yeah, I’m just naturally optimistic. It’s a gift.

You’re right. I live in south texas and have interests in the rio grande valley. deportation is not a viable option. it won’t even be on the table. It is very unrealistic for us to believe that somehow, magically, all these people will just disappear

So, that being said, get over the “McShamnesty” thing. McCain was being realistic. Love him or hate him, he’s our nominee. We might as well support the guy. Our other options aren’t options at all.

mksmithwriter,

I did not get us into this mess….maybe you forgot that Bishop Romney(I call him that because he was actually a mormon bishop…a much overlooked fact)endorsed Mccain and tried to pledge his delegates to him.

And the Romney supporters had the nerve to say a vote for Huckabee was a vote for Mccain! When in actuality, if you did vote for Romney it REALLY was a vote for Mcshame!

But you are right about one thing…liberty is dead as is the conservative movement, now the republican party is something else(a pro amnesty, pro abortion, pro globull warming taxes, anti free speech, globalist party!

What’s ironic about that statement is that most of McCain’s votes in the early primaries were from liberals and moderates. These are not GOP voters. And calling everybody who doesn’t march in line with the liberals just because they place an “R” next to their name doesn’t make them “pseuds”. And I’m not sure if that’s implying pseudoconservatives or pseudoRepublicans. Both would be wrong. We’re probably the truest of true conservatives by not marching in step with the moderates, liberals, and independents (the indies dumbest voting bloc anywhere). Do you realize that people that were Obama supporters were crossing over to McCain (and vis versa)? These are people that vote on personality, not issues. And they took our party. By being so hostile, you make me dislike McShamnesty even more.

McCain won’t destroy this country! Come on!

We’ve survived worse. Much worse!

To me the key issue is, will there be a secure border before any semi-amnesty?, or even more empty promises that it will all work out after another round of amnesty?

If the border is secure, I’m not opposed to working out how to best legalize or otherwise categorize the current illegals.

A waffle is a waffle is a waffle. Not a pancake. Good luck with that.

Our gal has won Ohio per Fox.

“Our” gal? I just puked Pringles into my mouth. Don’t do that.

Thank you. Don’t let the liberal shamnesty shills silence the few real conservatives left. Don’t stop shouting. Don’t compromise.

Thanks! You stay strong to and hold on to your wallet over the next four years!

shit any longer. I’m turning my TV off and going to find some non-candidate diaries to read. I’ve reached my limit tonight with the spin, with the crap voters will buy into, with the pundits and talking heads, the tension, the nail biting - just fucking had it!

And uh oh, MSNBC just called Ohio for HRC with a “substantial” lead, according to KO. Now, I’ve really had it because I DON’T UNDERSTAND OHIO.
