Bride of Messiah: America is “just downright mean”

Oh, now. I’m sure all she meant is “America, in its entirety, under George Bush is downright mean.” Or under Hillary Clinton, or anyone else except Barack Obama.
That’d be okay, of course.
Obama begins with a broad assessment of life in America in 2008, and life is not good: we’re a divided country, we’re a country that is “just downright mean,” we are “guided by fear,” we’re a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents. “We have become a nation of struggling folks who are barely making it every day,” she said, as heads bobbed in the pews. “Folks are just jammed up, and it’s gotten worse over my lifetime. And, doggone it, I’m young. Forty-four!”
Exit question: She’ll be running for senate in New York circa 2016, won’t she?

Anything she says is music to my ears. You go, girl!

Ugh … she’s just downright nasty. She’s had more opportunities in life than I have and she just doesn’t seem to appreciate anything. I’m grateful for where I am and what I have.
darwin on March 4, 2008 at 6:03 PM
When I first came to this country there were a lot of old, really run down cars, not antiques, on the roads. Houses were much smaller, and usually had one TV to a family…
Now, take the I-5 to LA, from San Diego, and see if you can find 3 old cars, really run down ones…
Or, try to find parking at restaurants on a Fri/Sat night.
Or, check out the stats of folks taking cruises around the world, or any kind of trips/vacations to exotic/other places.
This is very symbolic of just three areas of today’s “life in America”.
The Messiah-woman is delusional, deceiving, arrogant, and destructive.

Yeah, this is PRECISELY what we need for a First Lady.
She can be our First Eeyoress.

Didn’t Reagan win with a campaign that said “America is great, and things will get even better”? The Socialists have to convince us that this country really, really sucks, is unfair and the only prescription is socialism.
God forbid the US become an “Obama-nation”!
gmoonster on March 4, 2008 at 6:12 PM
So, she no longer proud of America for the first time in her life.
Yep.
Entitlement mentality, darwin. And they don’t appreciate what’s been given to them–no sense of stewardship. Just “Gimme, gimme, gimme.” And hard working people are paying for it.

It’s very hard to choose which one of Debbie Downer’s statements were the most cringeworthy, but this stuck out for me, considering how rough they’ve had it and all that:

dmann on March 4, 2008 at 6:37 PM
I read some of the article and I find it interesting that she had pretty much the same middle class upbringing that I (a white girl who is 46 now) and she longs for the Dick Van Dyke life like she sees in the reruns. Yeah, I want that too, but I don’t have NEAR the income or luxuries she has and I think America is the best place in the world. Sure there are problems, but I will be darned if I could be as miserable and snarky as that elitist beotch is about this country. Dang!

Heh. Fish in a barrel.
a capella on March 4, 2008 at 6:41 PM
That struck me as well. This woman lives on a quarter million income a year and still thinks she is OWED more.
This woman and her influence should not be let ANYWHERE near the Whitehouse!!!!!
ihasurnominashun on March 4, 2008 at 6:43 PM
This woman might actually hand the White House to McCain if she keeps this up. With every speech she opens up her husband to the quiet resentment that accompanies the public guilt that white America has expressed for decades. If I didn’t know better (which I don’t, frankly), she’s playing the bad-cop militant to Barry’s good-cop post-racial bargainer.
Shelby Steele might just turn out to be right about Obama.

You know what kills me? When Fred! was running there was so much BS from the dems that his wife was “making” him run and that she really wanted the power. Well, I think they got the wrong wife. If anything, it is OBVIOUS that Michelle wears the pantsuits in that household and Barry is doing her bidding.

That is one long article. 10 pages of cover up for “hell yea I hate America”. “My $350K salary was an insult because I didn’t get it out of the womb”.
The Democrats and Republicans are paralyzed. How he got this far is a mystery to me. Perhaps it is because the media pundits are making tens of millions, and out of guilt can’t criticize.
I am black, 40, private schools, etc. Got no job right now (been tough in fact). I’ve got plenty of debt and enough to be depressed about.

It’s obvious that:

2)she has had a silver spoon in her mouth all her life.
3)she has become proud of America ONLY because Barry Hussein is now in the running.

Madame O looks increasingly like an invaluable GOP resource: Equal parts Theresa Kerry and Cynthia McKinney.
She’s a goldmine or a landmine depending on how you see the world.
One of two things will happen very soon: either the Obama people will stick a sock in her mouth, or she can be counted on to make at least one epically stupid, divisive and hateful comment every week from now until November.
My money is on: “can’t be told, rolled or controlled.”
You go, girl. Every time she opens her mouth, another purple state turns red.

Both of them gave me the creeps when i first laid eyes on them; when I started to hear what they were saying, especially Michelle, my assessment was verified and deepened.

baldilocks on March 4, 2008 at 7:33 PM
I am more worried about McCain’s and a case of “slip of the tongue”.
His characterization of the “firing of Rumsfeld” in the last Repub debate (in front of the whole world) leaves me in expectation.
In the course of the debates McCain will refer to Bush with disrespect and refer to “cowboy diplomacy”, “bunker mentality”, “facsism”, etc. – just like a liberal nut.
Mark my words.
Agrippa2k on March 4, 2008 at 7:33 PM

Michelle, wife of The Obama:
Stripping people of their liberty is Mean – Democrats and their social engineering – and that is what your husband peddles.
p.s. Not as mean as the countries who behead you if you are a woman who got raped by her brother. Ask Danny Pearle’s Father about countries that are “down right mean.”
She is an embarassment.

ctmom on March 4, 2008 at 7:36 PM
It is ironic that her “criticism” points directly to the Liberal/Democrat “nation”.
That is their side in a nutshell. Her country. Everybody knows – Liberals are the mean, sloths.
Agrippa2k on March 4, 2008 at 7:37 PM
So I guess it’s only Mr. Obama with the message of “hope”. because Mrs. Obama is downright depressing.

Lay of the Last Minstrel (Extract)
Breathes there the man, with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, my native land!
Whose heart hath ne’er within him burn’d,
As home his footsteps he hath turn’d,
From wandering on a foreign strand!
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no Minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim;
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust, from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonour’d, and unsung.
Sir Walter Scott

She falls in line with those people that would celebrate the New Years with lamenting about how terrible the country is.
Who is a part of the problem and refuses to be a part of the solution. Looks down on people worth while leaving the price tag on her possessions.

Obama and his woman: “We are “guided by fear”.
Exactly where is this mindless phrase coming from? One would think that our nation’s people were one banana peel from slipping into living in gutters or under bridges or in our rusty automobiles, digging in garbage bins for a crust and losing the battle against malaria and pinworms. These are the fears that the Lefty “progressives” like to engender in their mindless mobs.
Michelle Obama, like Hillary Clinton, is one angry woman who tolerates no political philosophy other than her own. Both have no respect for the individual and the ability of each of us to direct our lives without the mandates of the State.
If a person aspiring to lead this country (and the woman who wants to be First Lady) fails to see that the federal government’s first order of responsibility Constitutionally is to protect the nation, and if said persons twist that discharge of duty as one of promoting fear, then they are not ready to protect and serve this nation. Certainly, a student of history recognizes that “the price of freedom is eternal vigilance”. A student of current events recognizes that our freedom and our security are under attack by external forces that have made their aims quite clear. No amount of diplomacy suffices to promote peace without the incentive of the stick backing up the carrot.
