Video: Michelle on the Obama/Muslim smear; Update: Video fixed

posted at 7:05 pm on March 3, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Was the “as far as I know” comment meaningful or not? Your mileage may and will vary depending on how you value the Machiavelli quotient in the Clintons’ politicking. I’m not quite willing to say that every syllable that escapes the Glacier’s lips is significant, especially considering that she was vociferous in denying the Obama/Muslim rumors aside from that one little slip. MM … disagrees.

I keep thinking back to Sean Wilentz’s piece. Perception, even among Clinton-haters, doesn’t always equal reality.

Update: Sorry for the video troubles. Fixed now.

Since Obama denounced being a Muslim and turned Christian and he wants to be POTUS, doesn’t that make him public enemy no. 1 from Malaysia to the Persian Gulf?

No disrespect here to the issues. Really. But is it just me, or is Michelle looking hotter than ever?

MM needs to return to more on-air appearances. She is good for conservatism.

ColtsFan on March 3, 2008 at 7:14 PM

While I don’t think he’s a crypto-muslim, I certainly don’t believe him a Christian. Much less a “…devout…” Christian. I can’t see anybody that believes and espouses the things he does being any sort of Christian.

Saying “as far as I know”, is a given that you are saying, yeah it’s possible, everyone should know that.

The fact that Obama is going to this ridiculous “church” for 20 years I find problematic. He continues to say he renounces Farrakhan’s support yet he doesn’t renounce his Pastor. I find that is something that says a lot. Seems like no one is pinning him on that.

Michelle is a very good looking and intelligent woman.
Exit question: Can you guys manage to make comments without talking about how hot women are? Geez.

We need MM on TV more often. She is one of the few conservatives left, in a sea of liberal nuts and rino’s, that makes sense…

No. Welcome to the Internet.

I’d imagine that more will come out about his past associations as the general election campaigns get going. It’s hard to say whether it’ll stick to the Obamassiah though; criticizing a predomantly black church? That’s some mighty un-PC territory right there.

I’m with Allahpundit on this one. Too many of us are obsessed with every word, every cackle, every breath Hillary Rodham Clinton produces. Barack Hussein Obama is not a muslim as far as ANY of us know. We have to take him at his word, and there is no evidence to suggest he is. I do question his commitment to our country, however.

That’s quite a conspiratorial theory you’re positing there, Zelsdorf. He says he’s not a Muslim, but a Muslim extremist would lie about it, so he’s definitely a Muslim? Tell me, was your comment inspired by the 9/11 Troofers, or by the John Birch Society?

Interesting question regarding the current state of the world. Running for office, no. By law a religious test can not be given.

But let’s say he is, then I definately would want specific answers to how he would protect the country, what he will do to secure the borders, who he would be inclined to nominate to the Supreme Court, if he really wanted to socialize our health system, etc, etc, and not just the platitudes and sermon speeches that he is giving now.

BL@KBIRD on March 3, 2008 at 8:21 PM

OK, I’ll play: Yes it ought to make him a candidate that no one would take seriously.

We live in Bizaro – upside down world. When in history would any other people prop a man up for the leadership of their country who had no private sector leadership experience, had no legislative experience, was financed and got his political start from a middleman of the enemy, had the name of our enemy, looked like our enemy, had a father who was the enemy, had a step father who was the enemy, had a cousin who was the enemy and ruled a country in the sadistic ways of the enemy, who was most proud of his brother when he took the oath to become the enemy, who is a member of a radical faith that sees the majority of America as the enemy, has a militant wife who despises everything good about this country, who has few solid campaign position and those that he does have are socialist, promises to raise taxes, promises to be kinder to criminals, promises to redistribute your wealth to social program experiments, promises to continue overt racism in hiring and college acceptance programs.

We never would have accepted Ho Chi Minh, Kim Il-Sung, Khrushchev, Hideki Tojo, et al during times of those conflicts. Only the insane would allow a person sympathetic to the enemy to rule them.

It is called taqqiyah. There is nothing conspiratorial about it, unless you consider the Koran to be conspiritorial. Now, whether or not Obama is committing it, don’t know, don’t care.

He is a liberal who espouses liberalism. That is enough to not want him in the White House.

Not to mention that anything you question this guy about is instantly converted through political judo into raaaacism.

The Fox newsreader says, “Hillary was asked if Obama had faith in Jesus twice…” The word “Jesus” was never mentioned. No wonder it’s called Faux News.

I thought Michelle was boycotting Fox because of the whole Geraldo thing.

B26354 on March 3, 2008 at 9:32 PM

I do not for one minute believe Obama about much of anything, but I did hear him say that he “has belonged to the same church for twenty (20) years..” The same church whose pastor has given Louis Farraken a “man of the year” award. Nuff said!!

sharinlite on March 3, 2008 at 10:09 PM

Excellent analysis by Michelle as always.

This is the Liberals mess, and Hillary is doing her best
to paint Omama as a Muslim, and in a way thats a great strategy.

However,Hillary is demonizing Obama in much the same way she would normally been doing to the Republican Party!

So Hillarys fear tactics are going to backfire the same way as Bill besmirched the African American voter, and along the
same way as the “Fairy Tale” comment!

I’v got a gut feeling tho, that the’ll have to drag Hillary
away in the same fashion as the crazy Moonbats said that
the Republicans will stage a crisis to keep Bush in power!

canopfor on March 3, 2008 at 10:22 PM

Obama “was” a muslim right, by his own admission when he was living in Indonesia? As far as I know Muslims are prohibited and are decapitated if they leave their faith. Besides what is wrong being a muslim, his name is Barack Hussein Obama – that is a muslim name!

mariloubaker on March 3, 2008 at 10:42 PM

I would love to see a list detailing precisely what you “know.”

You should be ashamed. You obviously have a stake in linking with Obama with Islamic terrorists. Your false acceptance of Islam is transparent. You represent all that is wrong with our party.

If Obama wins, despite proving how craptastic Republicans are as a party, what will make us any different than the seditious types found at DU, HuffPo, etc? How do you expect to support our CIC after calling him a traitor, terrorist and Muslim?

If we are at war and Obama is elected, what do you intend to do? Will you be as patriotic as you demand liberals to be or will you attack him as a war criminal, etc as the left has done against Bush?

Think. I know it can be painful, but you must try.

SIJ6141 on March 3, 2008 at 11:06 PM

You’re judging him based on Islamic doctrine despite his not being a Muslim. Good job. So I guess all white Christians accept the Christian Identity interpretation of racial separation as ordained by God.

Just admit it. You want him to be a Muslim. That would go a long way toward confirming your prejudices and might even relieve some of the guilt you’re repressing.

If Obama is the Democratic candidate, the Republican party will lose minority members. I believe that to be sad but true. We coud easily turn his candidacy into a net gain of Republican voters. Instead we will turn it into a showcase of the less-than-civil meatheads among us.

The Race Card on March 3, 2008 at 11:24 PM

If Obama was a Muslim, his social policies would have to make a Hard right. His voting records indicate extreme liberalism to the left. Abortion, partial birth abortion, lifestyle choice marriages, etc. All of the above examples would rate severe condemnation to any actual Muslim.

However, to the conspiracy theorist out there, real Muslims would not partake of any of these sinful behaviors, only secularists and some Christians. Therefore, by promoting these behaviors in the United States, he is fulfilling the Muslim commandants to kill infidels.

Michelle gets some very vicious comments placed on her web videos. She is routinely attacked by left wing idiots with outrageous smears and sexist comments. So its probably for the best to close remarks.

William Amos on March 4, 2008 at 12:12 AM

Fine. Let’s forget about the Muslim thing for a moment. How about the fact that he attends the church of Rev. Wright, who spouts off racism from the pulpit. Obama says he doesnt agree with all Wright says but has yet to define which points he does not agree with. How about the bill he has started, S. 2433? Any body bothered to check out what that bill contains and how MUCH it will hurt America?? And just what accomplishments has he to his credit?

So I guess all white Christians accept the Christian Identity interpretation of racial separation as ordained by God. The Race Card on March 3, 2008 at 11:24 PM

Christian Identity interpretation? Not sure I understand what you mean, unless you are refering to marriage? All I know is all who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, are ‘adopted’ in to God’s family. There is no requirement for, or a limitation to, a certain color of skin.

Barack Obama was a Muslim – as far as “The Authorities” will be concerned. We can parse the Islamic rules all we want, but the Jihadis will have the final word (or fatwa) on the matter.

With a less apologetic view, one might conclude that while he may have only attended mosque while over seas, it is a stretch to assume that as soon as he returned to Hawaii his liberal parents rushed him to a church.

He may have been a Christian for 20 years, but if the first church he entered was 20 years ago, he may be in trouble. From his book, he claims not to have “considered” Christ until joining a church became “good politics”.

Let’s face it being different is cool. Being a muslim was also sort of cool when he was in his teens and twenties (70s and 80s). Did he work this to get some “attention”?

No deliberate “rejection of Islam” ocured until he was in his mid 20s. That is apostasy. When he has trouble with handshake photo-ops in the middle-east – we’ll know why.

Why would the media think that calling someone a “Muslim” might be considered a “smear”?

Do they think there’s something wrong with being Muslim?

Does Obama?

profitsbeard on March 4, 2008 at 10:02 AM

While I have no reason to believe that Obama is a Muslim, I believe that according to their rules, the Muslims would say he is a Muslim.

Could make his life complicated if he ever made a state visit to a country where they hang people for apostasy.

dinasour on March 4, 2008 at 10:26 AM

According to Islam we are all Muslims which is why someone who formally comes in by way of the solemn reciting of the Shahada is called a revert, not a convert. The formal renunciation of Islam (apostasy) is punishable by death according to the hadith but this penalty is not prescribed in the Qur’an itself.

By Islamic law he was born into the faith by way of his father who obviously chose his given names so apostasy is the only only possible interpretation (according to the Islamists) of his becoming a Christian.

Note that Christians call their children Christian and baptism confirms the entrance into the faith. Clearly the kid, at that age, has no choice in the matter and Islam is no different, you’re in at birth. However, one can opt out of Christianity without the risk of severe or fatal penalty and one can come back as many have.

Obama has said he is a Christian and, under our civilized rules, he is and is not a Muslim but don’t count on all Muslims to accept our judgments and opinions.
