Video: The obligatory “Hillary on SNL” clip

The cameo comes at 7:47 if you want to skip ahead but the sketch that precedes it is much more entertaining, especially the Williams/Russert impressions and Armisen’s inscrutable Sphinx as the savior of mankind. The ballsy thing to do would have been to put Hillary in a wig and have her play some female reporter, pitching questions at “Hillary” about whether she thinks the press makes too much of her cackle, etc. Instead they went for a lame sight gag of her and Poehler wearing the same outfit — although the droll allusion to the campaign not going swimmingly is amusing. Exit question: Why is a woman facing defeat on Tuesday actually raising expectations?

If you’re pressed for time, skip it and watch the brief second clip with Giuliani instead. “The Florida plan was solid!”

Hmmm, apparently she`s auditioning for another job she isn`t qualified for. :)

ThePrez on March 2, 2008 at 1:15 PM

That’s the most, uh, likable I’ve ever seen her. She’s still a Socialist, though : )

gmoonster on March 2, 2008 at 1:17 PM

Right, this is the best I’ve ever seen her. I don’t think she can make much of it though.

thegreatbeast on March 2, 2008 at 1:23 PM

I thought the Giuliani appearance was funnier but it sounds like the Hillary appearance was last minute so they probably didn’t have time to come up with much.

terryannonline on March 2, 2008 at 1:24 PM

Ok. That’s it. I’m searching for tickets to the Dems National Convention. I’m convinced now, She will win Ohio and Texas, probably by small margins, but wins non the less. DENVER, HERE I COME.

THE CHOSEN ONE on March 2, 2008 at 1:26 PM

The Obama cartoon was tons funnier, IMO. Hillary seemed VERY relaxed and, uhm, real. It would have been much funnier having her lob questions at Fauxbama.

SouthernGent on March 2, 2008 at 1:27 PM

The rudy bit was great. I still wish his strategy didn’t suck :(

lorien1973 on March 2, 2008 at 1:28 PM

Eessh. For a moment, I *liked* Hillary… She was funny, confident…

Off to take a shower!

spidgy on March 2, 2008 at 1:29 PM

The only one in America who isn’t laughing is Russert.

THE CHOSEN ONE on March 2, 2008 at 1:30 PM

I think Clinton is staying in no matter the results so she’ll raise expectations just to raise the pressure. I think the undecideds will go her way and she’ll win at least one of the two states.

ninjapirate on March 2, 2008 at 1:36 PM

Holy crap! I was entertained by SNL there for a second! The Obama guy cracks me up.

Fishoutofwater on March 2, 2008 at 1:36 PM

For a moment, I *liked* Hillary

I’ve never really disliked her. Yeah, I don’t think her personality type is the most endearing but so what. It’s her policies that I disagree with.

As conservatives I think we will come out of the election looking good if we don’t make attacks personal. It’s not about the person but their positions.

A FAKE and FORCED Uncomfortable SMILE by the Iceberg if there ever was one…..

awesum on March 2, 2008 at 1:40 PM

That guy has got Obama’s speech mannerisms down pat. Heh.

And.. gag.. I found myself thinking that Hillary’s performance was kinda cute.

Obama, uniting the ununitable.

awesum on March 2, 2008 at 1:40 PM

My thoughts exactly! That woman is ‘wooden delivery’ personified! She should stay away from any attempts at comedy.

I don’t get where you guys are seeing teh likable.

rockbend on March 2, 2008 at 2:15 PM

Now I have no reason to ever watch that show that, at one time, was so very funny.
I’d comment but, my bucket runneth over.

Christine on March 2, 2008 at 2:35 PM

This is a Democrat circle-jerk.

RobCon on March 2, 2008 at 3:21 PM

As difficult as this is to say:

Hillary seemed very funny, very human and very likable in that clip!

Now - I have to go take a shower……….

That dress should have had pieces of corn and peanuts in it.

2Tru2Tru on March 2, 2008 at 4:03 PM

I look forward to four years of that guy’s Obama impersonations.

Tzetzes on March 2, 2008 at 4:06 PM

Meh…… we have how many more months/political sketches of this?????

Seven Percent Solution on March 2, 2008 at 4:20 PM

My thought on the Obama guy was that it was annoying - which I realize was sort of the point, but I didn’t think it sounded anything like him. Maybe I’m the only one.

OneGyT on March 2, 2008 at 4:39 PM

The two weeks of SNL attacks confirm that Obamamania has passed the point of “cool,” and is well into the “How could anyone ever have thought it was cool?” phase.

her human impression seems to be getting a little better.

Best Ever!

Chakra Hammer on March 2, 2008 at 8:33 PM

SNL,and Hillary is shrill. If your continually being
savaged on SNL,I think her time is almost up,unless
Hillary is going to throw the “Kitchen Sink” at Obama,
or her going to court over Superdelegates,if that is even
plausible, then she’s almost done, two days to go tho!

And since SNL is bashing the Liberal’s,I think all start watching again!

canopfor on March 2, 2008 at 8:49 PM

I swear that Hillary’s voice reminds me of a crow with a sore throat.

herself on March 2, 2008 at 10:21 PM

I have to admit it was pretty funny. Although her health care proposal is by far, the bigger joke!!

gboy63 on March 2, 2008 at 11:05 PM

I don’t get where you guys are seeing teh likable.

rockbend on March 2, 2008 at 2:15 PM

compared to how she normally is

urbancenturion on March 2, 2008 at 11:39 PM

Let’s see, she’s failing in the polls.

She’s failing to knock out Obama.

She’s failing to win in any primaries.

And now, she fails at comedy.

Maybe she should try a guest stint on Food Network’s Iron Chef America. Maybe she can cook better than she can campaign.

On the other hand, forget I said that.

pilamaye on March 3, 2008 at 7:20 AM

I think that second actress, the one who did the editorial response, did a lousy impersonation of Hillary.
