One thing to remember...

If it's hot and nasty going in to the Dem convention, then the supporters of whoever DOESN'T win the nod will be furious. Obama supporters will think it's racism and fixing, while many Hill supporters will say the result is anti-woman and an inexperienced upstart got it. The nastier it gets, the less motivated to vote the side that lost will be.

That being said, McCain is terrible and I don't want him in office. He's rude, arrogant, holier than thou and not particularly bright in some key areas, like economics.

It's a pretty kettle of fish we have here...

Especially since the Dems & Indies selected our candidate this year, the least we could do is make their selection process more difficult. With all the open primaries, and the fact McCain’s been successful only in those states

Florida and California are both closed primaries. Did it ever occur to you that maybe (shocking I know) the "purists" might be OUTNUMBERED? I know you Movement Conservatives think that this party is exclusively yours, but Reagan brought us together in a COALITION, and we always knew that it would be the Movement Conservatives who would take their lollipops and go home when it you dont get your way (96).

"to Harvard on a race quota. "

WOW! what a disgusting assertion. Where is your proof that this is how Obama got into Harvard.

This kind of crap is why Republicans have trouble being taken seriously, it plays right into the medias hands.

It is in Rush's interest for Hilary to win. He, not to mention all right-wingers will have a hell of a time calling out Obama on anything without the race card being attached to them. Fact is, Obama is untouchable. Hillary equals 4 more years of great material for Rush.

To put it bluntly, a win for Obama equals the death of right-wing voices for the next four years.

Terrible sentence. Sorry!

Obama needs his nose bloodied, and if we want issues to dominate the general election, then Hillary has to be the one to punch him. (B

Dumb, dumb, DUMB, Rush hasn’t jumped the shark, he’s trying to get people to use their heads for once this election. Hillary is the weaker candidate, and if we can prop her candidacy up so she can limp to the convention and maybe pull in enough superdelegates to be the nominee, or possibly bludgeon the DNC with the disenfranchised FL and MI.

We need to at least try and keep the left as disorganized as possible. Unfortunately the GOP across the board is made up of tactical and strategic retards who are letting emotional Hillary-hate override their brain, so Rush is probably shouting into the wind, and people will cross over to finish the Hildebeest off in TX and OH. However they shouldn’t.

Keeping the Clinton machine alive to fight another day is the "strategically retarded" move. The Clintons live for campaigning. They've proven to be resilient and they know how wage ruthless, brutally effective campaigns. Senator Obama is a political as well as policy lightweight. Better odds with him in the general election.

As far as the notion that McCain can't beat Obama, well the most recent polling data suggests otherwise. Obviously a lot can change between now and November, but the situation is far, far from hopeless.

Rush is really beginning to jump the shark. Texas conservatives have the power to end Hillary’s presidential ambitions (at least for the foreseeable future) and they should relish that opportunity.

Especially since the Dems & Indies selected our candidate this year, the least we could do is make their selection process more difficult. With all the open primaries, and the fact McCain's been successful only in those states (and not with the conservative base), it's quite clear they've manipulated the loopholes. Therefore, I think the open primary in Texas can be open for "assistance" this Tuesday.

First!

Obama can only lose if McCain gets him to start talking about his specific policies. Since politics is the art of saying nothing, at length, he’s a shoo-in by that measure.

Math_Mage on March 1, 2008 at 1:27 PM

"Glittering Generalities" is the phrase I learned in high school civics class. Bill Clinton won his election and re-election on glittering generalities. Anything he got specific about he was ravaged (healthcare takeover) or never delivered on (tax cuts for the middle class).
Obama is taking the speaking in Glittering Generalities to the PhD. level. He is the master of "hope" and "change" while not wanting to be too specific on what the change will be. He is the dictionary definition of what is a "Blowhard Politician". Look it up, you will see his picture there.

You “conservative” people ridiculed Tancredo and did not support Hunter for months. You have no one but yourselves to blame for this mess.

Then we also had a shot at Mitt. They don't call this the 'stupid party' for nothing. McCain is such an obnoxious ahole, his holier than thou attitude, talking down to the base, etc. Gonna be a long 5 years.

Rush is really beginning to jump the shark. Texas conservatives have the power to end Hillary’s presidential ambitions (at least for the foreseeable future) and they should relish that opportunity.

Dumb, dumb, DUMB, Rush hasn't jumped the shark, he's trying to get people to use their heads for once this election.

However they shouldn't.

Rush is no fool. He's basically advocating a contested democratic primary as long as possible to build an advantage for the republicans. It's tactics over ideology.

Relax.

As for Obama as a candidate in the general election, I don't understand why the sharp wits on the American center-right can't just laugh him out of town. It seems that the way to bring Obama down is to refuse to take him seriously--not because he's black, for heaven's sake, but because he's a clown and an empty suit, running as a serious man and a messiah.

I'm not worried about it, I'll vote in public. Thing is, I'm not in your precinct.

Different precinct and district but your plan won’t work for me. Based on several of my neighbors I would be instantly recognized and run out of town on a rail. Self preservation kicking in here.

LOL! That's what I'm worried about, too. My neighbors also know I'm a Republican, and if I show up at a Democratic caucus, I know some of them are going to look at me cross-eyed -- or worse.

That's the thing about a caucus. You have to vote in public.

By chance, is any other Texan here in Precinct 34 or Senate District 13? (If you’re not sure, look on your voter registration card. It has that information.)

No offense there Paul, but all you're probably going to come up with is a handful of crickets on that one.
