Making the rounds. Most of it’s perfunctorily couched in terms of wasteful spending, which will make it a tad harder for Maverick to attack. Although that mutual disarmament pact with Vladimir Putin sure sounds promising, huh?
Exit question: Is Future Combat Systems going to be a major campaign issue?

Wow…. I mean… wow. Can I get some of that fairy dust so I can fly to Neverland too? Providing of course that Obama has already pacified Captain Hook.

It seems he wants us unprepared and helpless in a increasingly violent planet.
Makes me wonder what his, and his owners, true strategic goals are.

Maybe their is a bit of confusion. I said this:
“Effort” read, reasearch and development. “Hardware not needed” read, new hardware for new hardware’s sake versus efficacy and efficiency. Take stealth ships for example. Developing them is fine. Creating a whole new fleet that can evade radar, who’s radar? The mighty Chinese
Navy? We own the sea, no need for that now.
From the article Kini linked:
How is my position at odds with this article? I want R&D, I would be willing to directly compensate defense contractors for R&D. What I am against is unneccesary or unwise implementation for implementation’s sake. The “virtual” border fence would be another good example. Bush scratched Boeing’s back big time. They get to field thier equipment, which they’ll no doubt use to sell this technology to other countries, which they would have done anyway even without Bush giving them the perfect platform to field test their technology. We got a virtual fence, just because.

What Obama is saying: I will not spend money to put White Engineers and companies that employ them to work. I will instead give money to African Dictators.
That’s Barack Hussein Obama for you! His pal Farrakhan would be proud!

Sounds like his plan is to drop out pants and allow Putin and the rest of the world to sniff our balls – it’s called the Rover Objective. I wonder who is going to be firest to step up and be our new overlords…

1st–Earth to Obama, fissile material is needed to make nuclear energy. 2nd–the missile defense system is working, we just hit a satellite moving at 25,000 miles an hour,3nd–Why negotiate Obama? You just revealed your hand. You just gave the game away. When you play poker to you show your cards to everyone before you bet? Wow, what a rookie.

The way McCain fought to kill that lease deal was the biggest red flag about his approach to national defense. The lease deal was not good, but it was forced because the Clinton administration balked at spending the necessary funds to upgrade the aging KC-135 tankers. McCain fought it because it was expensive, but I note he offered no alternative.
When your back’s against the wall, you spend what you have to. Refusing to spend the money for what you need is not good management. Good management is not letting yourself get forced into that position to begin with. The real world is that sometimes you can be forced into that position anyway through the action or inaction of others.
But it’s a choice between McCain and a man wanting to disarm the nation at a dangerous time. The choices suck. McCain is a less sucky choice.

Obama as Spaulding from Caddyshack: “I want no fissile materials, I want an end to nuclear arms, I want..”
the voters as Judge Smails from Caddyshack: “Spaulding! You’ll get nothing, and like it!”
I’m sorry but that is what that clip reminds me of.
