lorien1973 has a point.

Don’t just add a law to make yourself be seen.

Many times smart legislation is enforcement of existing legislation, or cutting the fat. If you keep measuring Congress on what they add to the system and don’t care about what they eliminate — e.g. that ludicrous Energy Bill banning incandescent bulbs — we’re missing the point of government.

Is no one gonna mention that his one accomplishment had to do with another country, again? Obama puts an emphasis on others countries, especially Africa, that’s unnerving. The US has no interests in Africa, yet that’s where Obama is.

Highhopes, you’re hatred is blinding you again! I also was opposed to the immigration measure, but it was not no-questions-asked, & it was not amnesty. Immigrants had to jump through a series of bureaucratic & geographic hoops, & they had to pay $1000′s in fines.

Let’s see . . . uh, he cast dozens of “present” votes (I wonder how much CHANGE that brought about in Illinois?). He also, on six occasions, cast a wrong vote (he said he meant to vote the other way, but hit the wrong button). Either the voting machines in the Illinois state legislature are REALLY complicated, or the Columbia and Harvard Law-educated Obama is not nearly as clever as he claims to be.

Ok, ok let’s take a look at the accomplished law passed. It pertains to the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo). I’ve been there, seen it and it ain’t pretty. Security–there is none-it is totally ungovernable. Diplomacy-forget it, bands of young thugs running around with AK-47′s raping women and children, pillaging the country side. Next legislative feat??!!
We should have known what we were getting when the press fawned over a picture of BO walking out of the water in a bathing suit. Shallow water, shallow fainting by presstitutes about his sexiness, manliness and other barf. This is a media created phenomenon and we know how dependable they are.

While I get the point of this argument, I do not believe we should be grading politicians as to how many laws they’ve put on the books.

If Obama was running on a platform of “I like things just the way they are” then having accomplished nothing would be a major feather in his cap. McCains accomplishments, even if you don’t like everything he did, shows that he can get things done.

Actually, that pretty much makes the decision. If Obama wins, he’ll most likely be utterly ineffectual: blessed gridlock!

But if McCain wins, there is every reason to believe he’ll continue doing exactly what he’s been doing all this century: “reaching out” to the Democrats. In other words, the liberal agenda gets shoved through Congress like crap through a goose

…Unless the Republicans in Congress declare open war on a Republican President. And if that happens, all these numbskulls whining about a “fracture” in the Party will finally get to see what one of those really looks like.
