The Times, under the management of Bill Keller and especially Arthur “Pinch” Sulzberger, has reduced what had been the nation’s premiere newspaper to the credibility of a supermarket tabloid.

The Nation's Premiere Newspaper? You mean the Washington Times?

Hebrew ToYou

You are the exception. The youngest voters--18-24 yr olds--are the least informed. Unless you count knowing who's on the cover of the Rolling Stone.
P.S. Rolling Stone is way to the left of the NYT, BTW.

Enough with this “young people are the most informed” meme. It’s simplistic and naive.

This should read....least informed. Whoops.

I'm young and I used to subscribe to the WSJ. Then they had to go and support "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" and lost all their conservative credibility. Enough with this "young people are the most informed" meme. It's simplistic and naive.

The young as also the most uninformed, aren’t they?

They're also the least likely to spend $'s on a newspaper subscription or picking one up at a newsstand. Does your $4 go for a double mocha macciato or a Sunday Times?

Only self-professed liberals believe that the Times used sound news judgment in running the piece; conservatives and moderates overwhelmingly blame bias and malice.

They are left preaching to just their own choir and now some of those are leaving the church of lies.
That's one thing about liberals, they'll throw decency out the window for a opportunity to spread their hate.

spmat is exactly right. This story was just the first strike. There are many, many more to come. John McCain has been in the public eye for far too long. There is no doubt in my mind that he has a closet full of skeletons that has yet to be opened.

Such an awful nominee for the GOP. Ugh.

I'm telling you folks, this story was not meant to sink the S.S. McCain. It's the first of many pieces, from many different sources, that will weave the tapestry of McCain's very long, very colorful past, bit by painful little bit. By November, the Marxist will be radiant by comparison.

Lil Artie Sulzburger Jr, publisher of the NYT, thinks what he believes is reality and the truth be damned. Liberalism is not what the facts are concerning the truth, but what you want the truth to be. Reality is in the eyes of the beholder.

Is it my imagination or is the NYT starting to appear as a train speeding downhill without any air? Wonder how long it will be before the poor, common shareholders rise up and demand an "honest" return on their investment.

The MSM will have a little trouble giving McCain the standard Republican treatment. He’s been treated like a Democrat in the press for so long, it’s jarring to most people when they turn on him.
Asher on February 27, 2008 at 4:52 PM

Yeah, for like a week.

About a month after "endorsing" McCain, the NYT flagrantly bites him in the ass. Sure people are going to notice that. But by this November there will have been thousands of these stories, many of them even more idiotic than this one. And it'll all congeal into that grey fuzzy cloud of "everybody seems to think so."

That's the way propaganda works. There's nothing haphazard about any of this. People forget where and when they heard individual stories, but over time opinions get drilled into their brains just the same.

This subject did come up awhile back. The endorsement, and subsequent attack, really exposed the attack for what it was...a hack job. McCain and the NYT discussed this matter several months ago. They knew all about the story when they endorsed him.

What I'm confused about is the juxtaposition of the McCain endorsement by the NYT (January 25, 2008 Primary Choices: John McCain - New York Times) with the "hit piece" on February 21, 2008. That's less than a month apart.

Are they (the NYT) saying they were completely unaware of the alleged "indiscretions" they hint at from eight years ago when they endorsed him? Even though, according to my understanding, TNR had been badgering them to report them for some time.

How do you endorse a candidate, then less than a month later publish suggestions of wrongdoing from eight years previous?

To paraphrase: "What did the NYT know and when did they know it?"

I would have researched this more at the Hot Air Archives but am getting a "Error 404 - Not Found" message whenever I click the 'Previous Entries'

That’s what Pinchy wants so he can take it private. He’s been driving the price down and using profits to buy back shares on the cheap driving down the float. So, when it’s as low as he can get it, he’ll buyout the remaining shares and take it Private. It was all laid out by the Boston Herald Business Editor about 18 months or so ago.

TheBigOldDog on February 27, 2008 at 5:24 PM
He'll still end up with a handful of sinus drainage. He apparently doesn't understand that thing about trying to regain lost credibility, does he? What else has he got to sell?

TheBigOldDog on February 27, 2008 at 5:24 PM
yeah, I'm with Lim. Don't really see how this is a winning strategy. Their main asset in the new headquarters building. Don' think any other part of their business is profitable.

btw, WaPo not in much better shape. Their moneymaker is Kaplan's test taking--otherwise don't think they're profitable either. Sun-Times de-listed the other day. It's all looking good.

AmericanThinker.com has been running a series of articles about the newspaper business' demise. Very interesting.

I like the private part. That means repo trucks will, sooner or later, take some toys away.

de-list baby!

That's what Pinchy wants so he can take it private. He's been driving the price down and using profits to buy back shares on the cheap driving down the float. So, when it's as low as he can get it, he'll buyout the remaining shares and take it Private. It was all laid out by the Boston Herald Business Editor about 18 months or so ago.

Did Kristal have anything to say about his employer’s attack on his boy the Mav?

JiangxiDad on February 27, 2008 at 5:09 PM
I haven't seen anything, and I've kinda been keeping my eye out. Wanted to see his public reaction.
