Video: Tina Fey makes the case for Hillary

posted at 7:17 pm on February 25, 2008 by Allahpundit

Not funny but the lefty blogs are buzzing about it so oh well. Here we encounter our heroine transgressively using the word “bitch,” which is reason enough for liberals to offer the Stewart/Colbert ha-ha clap of political approval but not so much you or me. Next week, perhaps, comes the ceremonial, empowering Fonda-esque dropping of the C-bomb. Better hope so, at least; Hillary’s finished come Tuesday.

I think someone should have warned Obama that shaking hands with a Clinton is an open invitation to a gut punch.

William Amos on February 25, 2008 at 7:22 PM

Hillary is the best candidate left.

PrezHussein on February 25, 2008 at 7:26 PM

funny interesting, or funny ha ha, not quite sure…

tommylotto on February 25, 2008 at 7:26 PM

I enjoy diarrhea attacks more than SNL.

Chuck Schick on February 25, 2008 at 7:27 PM

Whatever. Love her liberal character on 30 Rock.

frankj on February 25, 2008 at 7:27 PM

Tina Fey was the worst thing to ever happen to SNL. She’s a black hole for funny. Did you ever see Mean Girls? She wrote herself the character of a hip young high school teacher who the kidz are comfortable hanging out with outside of class. It’s neot an ironic portrayal.

Hiney Von Pewps on February 25, 2008 at 7:28 PM

is that a laugh track, or maybe audience enhaced laugh track.

custer on February 25, 2008 at 7:30 PM

Only NBC would persist with something and someone so unfunny.

rplat on February 25, 2008 at 7:30 PM

Does she really think her opinions matter? She drove SNL into the dumper, and she thinks she is helping Hillary?

Gack.

CrimsonFisted on February 25, 2008 at 7:31 PM

For so unabashedly supporting Hillary over Obama, Tina Fey and SNL will be called racist in 3-2-1…

Rational Thought on February 25, 2008 at 7:32 PM

Bitter much, Tina?

Good line, though: “Bitch is the new black.”

aero on February 25, 2008 at 7:33 PM

Ahhh. Nothing like a 30-something chick trying to come off as teh cool. Lord. If I were a Hill supporter, having Tina Fey’s endorsement would make me change my vote.

BacaDog on February 25, 2008 at 7:37 PM

I Didn’t like the Dig at Reagan, but that wasn’t what she was going after..

The ending was funny, and I also wonder what her opinion of “School Choice” is.

Chakra Hammer on February 25, 2008 at 7:38 PM

is that a laugh track, or maybe audience enhaced laugh track.

That is what I was wondering, but it may just be a formatting issue getting the laughter into an internet video player. It has been years since I’ve watched SNL. If this clip is any indicator, it looks like I haven’t missed much.

BTW, who is this Connoway Fey refers to?

Blarg the Destroyer on February 25, 2008 at 7:38 PM

Here’s my personal internet campaign I’m waging on the Beverly Hillary-Billies… Copy and paste to all your friends…

CALLING ON ALL REPUBLICANS IN THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS

Last night in Ohio (2-19-08), Hillery said she was “ready to defeat the Republicans” I say we have a rare opportunity to take her on directly, and take her out.

The state of Texas has open voting. We should all tell/plead/beg our friends and family in Texas to “pimp” ourselves out for one day. Vote Obama and sweep that woman into the dust bin of history.

Here’s our chance republicans – why do you hesitate?

Like it or not, Maverick is our horse. His nomination is sure. Lets use our vote wisely on March 4th and end this once and for all.

She wants to take on the Republicans huh? I say we should meet her on the political battle field of Texas and give her exactly what she wants. I just hope she dont cry again.

Colts_45cal on February 25, 2008 at 7:38 PM

Other than the silly limbaugh dig, I thought it was kinda funny….”bitch is the new black”

Dirthead on February 25, 2008 at 7:40 PM

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

Tina. Fey. Is. Not. Funny.

She’s the female Dane Cook.

Good Lt on February 25, 2008 at 7:40 PM

Somebody hide Fey’s dope, We suffered 8 years of those two idiots and all they did was bring disgrace to the oval office.

limowilliam on February 25, 2008 at 7:41 PM

She was supposed to be one of the “secret” weapons they were bringing back to pump things up after the writer’s strike. Hmmmm…. Yes, SNL proves again why it is NO LONGER the “Not Ready For Prime Time PLayers”.

… Or, Second City, or Monty Python, or Benny Hill, or All in the Family. Need I go on?

Meryl Yourish is 100% right about this: If you’re a smug, walking nightmare of a feminist, your womyn’s empowerment candidate is completely marginalized (again) by the slick and wealthy male candidate that everyone loves… but this time you can’t go into default mode and criticize him for being part of the establishment patriarchy because he’s a black guy.

Believe me; it’s only going to get more shrieky and desperate from here.

ScottMcC on February 25, 2008 at 7:43 PM

I think the idea that “Bitch is the new black” is interesting, considering Obama is black.

ctmom on February 25, 2008 at 8:07 PM

Tina Fey didn’t kill SNL, but she certainly didn’t help ease the its erosion into irrelevance.

There’s a difference between funny and ignorant smugness.

Oh, and a difference between talented up and coming comics and stiffs that can’t get work elsewhere.

SNL forgot about that.

NBC = NoBody Cares.

yo on February 25, 2008 at 8:10 PM

I’ve yet to laugh at a Tina Fey skit or show.

jukin on February 25, 2008 at 8:12 PM

OK, saying a bitch would make a good co-president is a plausible claim. What’s her evidence? Unfunny comedy show hosts and nuns teaching grade school. Yeah, that’s convincing.

Clinton bumper sticker: Bitch is the new Black
Obama bumper sticker: Black is the new Bitch
McCain bumper sticker: competence.

Y’all are just pissed because of the Reagan jab.

It is a correct analysis that Hill is a bitch, O’Bama is a nice Irish Lad who happens to be an empty suit. As far as the two-fer of the Chapaqua Hillbillies is concerned, Why would you vote her into the White House, when he wouldn’t even let her under the desk?

Go for it Tina Fey, for you know the time is close when your sitcom will be cancelled, and you’ll have nothing!!

And, of course, the obligatory slam on Reagan…how much of a no talent hack are you Tina???

I actually like Tina Fey, and I enjoy watching 30 Rock, but that monologue was strange and off-putting. I didn’t think SNL endorsed candidates.
Still, it balances the unabashed Obama-love from most other corners.

That other thing is… your call. Just don’t post any pics.

joewm315 on February 25, 2008 at 10:03 PM

I find it amusing that Tina falls back on Catholic Nuns to justify how tough she is for being a “bitch.” Even a liberal has to reach into the epitome of conservatism to portray reality. Wouldn’t have been the same if she threw out the panel of “The View” to highlight her point.

Inzax on February 25, 2008 at 10:32 PM

It was funny because she was being serious.

SouthernGent on February 25, 2008 at 11:13 PM

SNL sucks. I’m against ’em.

bluestater on February 25, 2008 at 11:15 PM

I couldn’t care less about Fey’s leftism because I know it’s a given. The issue I have with her is that just like so many entertainers of Fey’s generation (Ben Stiller, Joss Whedon, etc.) she’s incredibly overrated. Even though she’s on a weekly sitcom, has multiple endorsements, and (we’re told) is an amazingly talented writer, Fey has no signature bit or joke that can make everyone in America say: “Wow, THAT’S a Tina Fey line!” We’re constantly told her Weekend Update gig on SNL was groundbreaking… why? Because unlike Chase, Miller, McDonald, and the other Update anchors before her, Fey was a woman.

And she wore her “smart glasses.”

Oooooooooh, that is impressive.

The only impressive part of her inexplicable rise is that unlike Stiller and Whedon who came from established entertainment industry families, she somehow got lucky enough to charm someone at the executive level in the media conglomerate she is owned by who was then able to direct their flunkies to give her middling talent endless promotion…

…coincidently, this also mirrors Seth McFarlane’s experience at Fox.

ScottMcC on February 25, 2008 at 11:25 PM

Gotta laugh. These Lefty women don’t get it.

Hillary irritates men. Peroid. Thats it. It’s not more complicated than that.

ketket on February 26, 2008 at 3:05 AM

Good summary. SNL’s viewership has obviously degraded to liberal gay women in part if that was supposed to be funny. As usual, they didn’t provide any solutions with their arguments, only the ” we know better than you ” reasoning, so the clintons should be in the white house again. Basically the ‘skit’ said that You are stupid and
we know whats best for you.

Nonsense. Clinton’s lack of nomination will make that a reality even by their own soon I’m guessing.

tx2654 on February 26, 2008 at 4:39 AM

Does she really think her opinions matter? She drove SNL into the dumper, and she thinks she is helping Hillary?

CrimsonFisted on February 25, 2008 at 7:31 PM

Amen to that. Ever since she became the head writer on that show it has gone straight downhill. It is berefts of laughs.

When she was asking what’s the problem with 2 intelligent people in the White House I couldn’t help but wonder who she had in mind as those accolades surely don’t apply to Billary.

MannyT-vA on February 26, 2008 at 5:45 AM

There’s yogurt that helps you poop?

Yes there is and the commercials are unintentionally hilarious. I for one think Tina Fey is pretty damn funny and I love “30 Rock”, even if she is a tad lib.

bagadeez04 on February 26, 2008 at 7:59 AM

It was unfunny as a tonal break from the rest of the segment — the hectoring thing doesn’t wear well. She’s touched on presidential politics in a funnier way on 30 Rock (“and secretly pull the lever for John McCain”).

The “Once A Year. Period.” commercial was pretty good, though. And I want to see more of Kristen Wiig as Jennifer Tilly. That was uncanny.

DrSteve on February 26, 2008 at 8:10 AM

I never ever found SNL funny. Not even humorous.

The recent femifascist transformation has actually made it more funny – in a pathetic, embarassing kind of way, that is. But the leftos sure like it, and it may sway some of them in favor of our girl.

Aristotle on February 26, 2008 at 9:46 AM

Tell Tina to ask Janeane Garofalo how much play and fame she got from acting the shrill liberal moron ass.

You go Tina….let your freak, unfunny, irrelevant political flag fly!

wildweasel on February 26, 2008 at 10:27 AM

That has got to be a laugh track. It is way too normalized, and comes in and out way too cleanly.
