Billy Jeff: “If you elect me…”; Update: “Hillary says”?

posted at 8:30 pm on February 25, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Once again, life imitates the Onion. And a good thing, too. I’d hate to think of Hillary’s defeat as a solo affair. It’s your loss too, BJ.

Update: Patterico e-mails to say that Clinton prefaces his comment with “Hillary says,” so presumably everything that follows is in her voice. BJ getting a bad rap?

*cringe*

How embarassing.

Dr. Manhattan on February 25, 2008 at 8:34 PM

ell duh, Hillary thinks she was “co president” for eight years. Unless you criticize things Clinton did, then she was just picking paintings to hang on the wall, that they would later take down and stuff in a u-Haul.

Neo on February 25, 2008 at 8:34 PM

BJ, you are so predictable.

rplat on February 25, 2008 at 8:36 PM

We must all succumb to the Clinton monarchy. We’re just delaying the inevitable. By the tone and tenor of the video, you can see that he has no intentions of running anything while in the White House….. we need to laminate and fireproof the constitution before this joker gets back to DC.

Cold Steel on February 25, 2008 at 8:37 PM

atlas shrugged on February 25, 2008 at 8:37 PM

maybe he was using the royal “me”.

Mr. Bingley on February 25, 2008 at 8:37 PM

Oh shit. Just when the media were waking up to The Obama Cult. This is a massive blow to Hillary at a critical moment. She will throw a glass to his face in an angry fit.

Baphomet on February 25, 2008 at 8:37 PM

His head is redder than his tie.

Chuck Schick on February 25, 2008 at 8:37 PM

Well, to be fair to Billy, he does start the clip off by saying “So Hillary says…” which means the rest can be taken as a quote from her, so the “elect me” is plausible.

I don’t want to be fair to him, mind you, but that’s just the kind of guy I am.

Mr. Bingley on February 25, 2008 at 8:39 PM

To be fair, he does start with “So Hillary says…” so if this were a transcript, the words “If you elect me” would be part of a quote attributed to Hillary. As much as I dislike the Clinton’s, making this out to be more than it is just makes us look foolish.

But, I think he meant what he said…ME!

shooter on February 25, 2008 at 8:51 PM

Aren’t we really electing him? Hillary Clinton wouldn’t even be a contender if it were not for her “spouse.” I’m not talking about the co-presidency stuff but a completely inexperienced woman was handed the NY Senate seat by selling off Presidential pardons to terrorists and tax cheats. She’s used her time and the Clinton political machine to position herself for a Presidential run. Fact of the matter is she’d be teaching women’s studies classes at Mount Holyoke were it not for Bill Clinton. In 2008, he’s part of the deal when one votes for Hillary- like it or not.

That being said, I don’t recall Hillary being a strong outspoken advocate of energy public policy in 2005 or ever. Keep an eye on the fat slow-looking child just to the right of Bill Clinton. Hard to tell if she is just stupid or sending out a distress signal.

Just think,7 to 8 months to go in the election
and Bill has graciously told the voters what he’ll
do in the White House, and the kicker is he keeps
saying he has a full and busy life, and doesn’t really
need to campaign for his lovely wife,Cruella Hillary!

Me thinks he smells victory, and probably has the
Lincoln Bedroom already pre-rented out!

And Bill said it,lets not play the splitting hair

Unfortunately I agree that since he began the tirade with “Hillary says:” They can quibble that it was something other than a Freudian slip.

What they CAN’T nuance away is that more and more Bill sounds like I do after receiving the fifth telemarketing call of the evening from an organization that I have told to take me off their call list 20 times already.

LegendHasIt, talk to them a little, put the phone down and go back to dinner, or whatever you’re into. After a while they realize that they’re talking to themselves. If they can’t respect you after the first time, no need to respect their time. I learned this from a carpooler.

OT – sadly, the alternative on the Left is worse than the Clintons. More and more I come to the realization that should the conservatives lose, even though we’re sc—d, the Clintons wouldn’t be as dangerous…

Entelechy on February 25, 2008 at 9:07 PM

mikeyboss on February 25, 2008 at 9:09 PM

kgs_mvs on February 25, 2008 at 8:40 PM

100% correct.

He does say, “Hillary says….” so the “elect me” is referring to Hill, not Bill.

Talon on February 25, 2008 at 9:09 PM

I’d be the first one to enjoy this, but there’s really nothing here but longwindedness… You’ll notice the clip starts with him saying “So Hillary says….”, and eventually gets to the “if you elect me” part.

RightWinged on February 25, 2008 at 9:11 PM

“So Hillary says…”

Pretty clear to me, although it is also clear that BJ is one angry man. He’s beginning to sound as shrill as she does.

Hilldog’s getting desperate, she may want to capitalize on this. Use it as a campaign slogan.

Now that Hillary is getting ready to be cast into the new Ted Kennedy. You know, always bitter at big bad republicans and angry with the world that she can’t ever be president, where does Billy Jeff go? Divorce court then Vegas.

GoodBoy on February 25, 2008 at 9:53 PM

Far be it from me to side with Bubba, but doesn’t the clip start with “Hillary says”?
So isnt’ the “if you elect me” part just quoting her?

ToddonCapeCod on February 25, 2008 at 9:54 PM

Wait, I think I finally get it: Hillary is a robot made of various parts from all the women Bill ever slept with and now he is using her to attain 8 more years in the White House via remote control, or Hillary is the brainwashed Manchurian candidate who is going to let Monica slip back into the White House to give Bill an exploding cigar compliments of Raul Castro, which will usher his brother Fidel into power using mind control and…shoot, I thought I had it.

bobthepeeler on February 25, 2008 at 9:59 PM

Hey, did you hear the first few seconds? Something like: “Hilary said, quote…” Then he appears to go on quoting Hilary. That will be the explanation from the campaign. But still, it was too easy to quote out of context, and the press (and the Obama-palooza) will have a field day with it.

We can only hope.

manwithblackhat on February 25, 2008 at 10:00 PM

Well, everyone said it was going to be a co-presidency… Elect Hillary Bill to his third term.

JimC99 on February 25, 2008 at 10:05 PM

Does anyone else get the impression that Bill is either definitely losing his touch, or DELIBERATELY losing his touch in order to subtly sabotage Hillary’s campaign, so that he doesn’t have to share the ‘glory’ (such as it is) of a Clinton presidency with the hag?

The 2005 energy bill was one of the most profoundly beneficial acts that our government has ever taken in relation to the environment. How did that become a waste? I thought Democrats liked the environment, but it seems that GWB43 likes the environment a little more than they do.

Wise Golden on February 25, 2008 at 10:46 PM

Y’all that are giving him the benefit of the doubt are missing the part at the very beginning: “in 2005, Hillary says…” If Hillary were saying this whole exact quote, then why would she be saying this in 2005? Yeah, that’s how they’ll try to play it off, but Freud is in the house.

HawaiiLwyr on February 25, 2008 at 11:36 PM

Royal ‘me’

quote of the year. That’s just funny.

Clinton did say ‘Hillary says’ though. He uses words as well as anyone to actually say nothing.

ThackerAgency on February 25, 2008 at 11:57 PM

I’d love to know how he plans on removing carbon dioxide from the combustion process. Does he plan on burning the carbon with nitrogen? Sulfur? Phosphorus?

“Clean Coal” is hilarious. Coal will never be clean enough for Environmentalist standards. Just ask AlGore. Anything that emits CO2 from fossil fuels is polluting the planet, and as much as you may try, Clintoon, you can’t sequester all the CO2 from hydrocarbon combustion. You can’t even sequester meaningful amounts of it.

But hey. Who needs facts when you’ve got finger wagging?

It’s obvious to everyone (or should be) that Democrat energy policy is: NO ENERGY FOR ANYONE!!!! Skateboards will get you to work, you can hand-crank your cell phone, and heat your house with human dung!!! And if you pay enough taxes and vote right, you may be permitted to accumulate enough points to be able to ride a smelly, over-crowded bus to whatever dead-end government job you can find after the Democrats have ruined the economy and run the last private business out of the country.

landlines on February 26, 2008 at 1:01 AM

No, he’s not getting a bad rap. You probably overlooked that qualifier in the beginning and then decided that pretending to be an innocent bystander beats acknowledging of your own mistake. The only thing that is justified is clean coal Billy Jeff ’cause women are going to keep using him no matter what. If you let me, I’ll repeal those subsidy tapes, remove the carbon dioxide left by Billy Jeff, and put the smear in the waste with the strategic energy fund.

txsurveyor on February 26, 2008 at 9:18 AM

That’s my problem with it as well. When I first heard it, I assumed he was just quoting Hillary when he was talking about the energy issues but that he’d left her quote when he started saying it was wasteful.

However, it is possible for him to claim he was still quoting her.

And it still makes for a funny sound byte.

DanKenton on February 26, 2008 at 10:07 AM

To be fair he does say Hillary Says at the beggining.

Whenever I see him campaigning for Hillary I can’t help but to think back to years ago when psychic Sylvia Browne said that Bill Clinton would be the first president to run for or possibly win a 3rd term. (I can’t remember if she said he would win or not) Although I believe Sylvia Browne is a fraud, what she said does make sense now. Maybe she does have some kind of psychic powers.

Erockk on February 26, 2008 at 10:14 AM
