Video: The obligatory “Huckabee on SNL” clip

Well, he’s got a better sense of humor than Aguirre anyway.
The Messiah got a love tap earlier in the show, too. Expect lots of this during the general — “biting” satire revolving around the fact of how magnificent he is and how much the press loves him.

bbz123, I was going to say something along those lines, but you nailed it.
HAHAHA

I see a new career. Guy has delivery!
However, please, go now.
geckomon on February 24, 2008 at 12:37 PM
That was funny.
Talon on February 24, 2008 at 12:44 PM
That seemed like a plea to the Republicans – just let me stay in a little while longer! I’ll get out, I promise!
amkun on February 24, 2008 at 12:45 PM
He was funny…
But then, exacly why IS Huck still running? It was said in an earlier thread that perhaps Huckabee is waiting for some scandal about McCain to break, and he’ll be the “last man left” in the race. Honestly, that’s looking more and more like the reality.
JetBoy on February 24, 2008 at 12:45 PM
I have to admit, that was pretty darn funny.
SECOND LOOK AT MIKE HUCKABEE FOR COMEDIAN AND CHIEF!!!
conservnut on February 24, 2008 at 12:47 PM
i thought the obama bits were hitting the media over their fawning of him.
zane on February 24, 2008 at 12:49 PM
We have enough politicians that are comics. We don’t need another one running for president.
flytier on February 24, 2008 at 12:49 PM
I don’t care if Huck sticks around for a while. He’s just angling for a primo speech time at the convention, and if he gets it, he could do a lot to convince religious conservatives that the GOP and its nominee have not abandoned them. I don’t think I have to elaborate on how important that could be in November.
Big S on February 24, 2008 at 12:50 PM
did you guys see Tina Fey during Weekend Update? She was unabashedly campaigning for Hillary. Some lines I remember (not exact quotes):
“Women have come a long way. They no longer feel obliged to vote for a candidate just because she’s a woman, now they have advanced well beyond that and will freely vote for whomever Oprah tells them to.”
“Some don’t want Hillary over worries that Bill would be a co-President. You know, because that would be awful – two intelligent, strong leaders – what a nightmare! Who wants Starsky and Hutch? I gotta go now and watch that classic show Starsky…”
“So come on, it’s not too late Texas and Ohio!”
AdrianG on February 24, 2008 at 12:56 PM
He’s funny…. but can he be CONSERVATIVE?????
Always Right on February 24, 2008 at 12:57 PM
I liked that a lot. I’m not a Huck voter, but when I’ve seen him in stuff like this, I do appreciate that he has such a good sense of humor.
mimi1220 on February 24, 2008 at 12:58 PM
You make a good point there. If Huck guarantees himself a prominent speaking spot in the convention and can make the case to his supporters, it would help the GOP in the general. McCain is far from my first choice, but I’ll take him over Hillary or Che.
flipflop on February 24, 2008 at 1:01 PM
Go Rudy!
Go Fred!
Go Mitt!
Go McCain!

Go Mi_e! or Go H__k!
Waiting for the endorsement so that, I can add the name and the other letters in.
The endorsement speech should be neat to watch.
Chakra Hammer on February 24, 2008 at 1:03 PM
Another thing about Huck speaking at the convention is that he’s likely to get OK coverage from the media due to his good humor and likeability. He could be the anti-Buchanan, rallying the culturally conservative part of the base without giving the party a bad name in the process.
Big S on February 24, 2008 at 1:07 PM
BTW, I think that Huck’s pretty funny, good humor.
Seems like a “good guy” even if he eats fried squirrel. >:}
Chakra Hammer on February 24, 2008 at 1:07 PM
This is another instance of what is wrong with his campaign. He is the Republican Obama: all about style, no substance. He’s trying to be everything to everybody. His next stops are HGTV, the Speed Channel, Noggin…. I can’t wait until he’s on the History Channel. I can understand his appeal to the left: a hyper-religious, bigoted, squirrel-eating, business-hating, charlatan who will sell-out in any venue. Thank you again Iowa.
Cold Steel on February 24, 2008 at 1:09 PM
Lame.
Joshua P. Allem on February 24, 2008 at 1:27 PM
Agreed. I can’t wait until the day the spotlight finally leaves this goober for good.
Who cares if he’s amusing and affable? He should go get a job in a megachurch where he can be on stage every week.
peski on February 24, 2008 at 1:31 PM
Did the Huckster become a preacher just because it guaranteed that once a week a roomful of people would be required to listen to him? (Plus he heard there was minimal heavy lifting involved.) What an attention whore.
I hope he stays in the race until he’s made himself radioactive to everybody but the cultists who are guzzling his snake oil by the gallon.
ReubenJCogburn on February 24, 2008 at 1:41 PM
Please go away.
Greenhorn on February 24, 2008 at 1:46 PM
SNL needs to end..it’s just not a funny show anymore.
j0 on February 24, 2008 at 1:48 PM
Sure do like those non-caching video players. Love watching clips in 3 seconds on, 30 seconds off mode
Hannibal Smith on February 24, 2008 at 2:15 PM
I though it was funny.
What I found interesting was Tina Fey begging people to vote for Hillary just after Huckabee’s bit was over. Her closing line was “bitch is the new black”. Verrry interesting choice of words there by a flaming liberal.
SouthernGent on February 24, 2008 at 2:28 PM
Funny guy!
CP on February 24, 2008 at 3:05 PM
I can’t watch this from Norway? WTF?
Seixon on February 24, 2008 at 3:08 PM
I don’t want him as our President, but I do love the guy. His timing was perfect – very funny.
greekinfidel on February 24, 2008 at 3:34 PM
I can’t stand the Huckster…but that was kinda funny.
It also makes an excellent point. Why the hell is the Huckster still in the race?
To advance conservatism? To help the GOP? To help McCain?
To serve the Lord?
Ummm…no. Mike Huckabee cares about one thing.
And that’s Mike Huckabee.

Card #127 in the 2020 Trivial Pursuit game.
Doug on February 24, 2008 at 3:46 PM
Nope, but our current presumptive nominee can’t either. Not to mention that he has no intentions of even pretending to be one.
The only difference between a “maverick” and huckaclown presidency would be, it seems, that when the huckaclown screwed up he might be able to make us laugh about it. A little.
The “maverick”, on the other hand, just makes me want to tie him to a pole and kick him in the nuts until my legs grow too tired to continue.
Misha I on February 24, 2008 at 4:51 PM
McCain is already the nominee, so having Huck out there is doing no harm, and is getting the conservative message out there to people who wouldn’t normally listen to it.
tommuck on February 24, 2008 at 5:10 PM
Have the delegates voted yet? I mean will there be a final vote and they can switch at the convention?

MirCat on February 24, 2008 at 5:53 PM
I saw it as Huck throwing in the towel with a bit of humor. SNL or not, the facts are what they are and Huck must know he’s done. This demonstrates that even he can’t be taking his campaign seriously.
Pablo on February 24, 2008 at 6:50 PM
That’s the joke that way too many of our candidates have been telling all along…. and they aren’t.
Honestly it was a funny bit and he did well.
Buzzy on February 24, 2008 at 7:08 PM
Boring. He’s like a Pittsburgh Pirates fan who still thinks they have a chance the last week of the season.
Attila (Pillage Idiot) on February 24, 2008 at 7:26 PM
Huckleboing is waiting for a McCain meltdown. It could happen.
saved on February 24, 2008 at 8:08 PM
No, it can’t and it won’t. And even if McAmnesty does meltdown…Romney still has more delegates than the Huckster.
Give it up.
bigred on February 24, 2008 at 8:32 PM
You know, if huckabee did this before, he would have a hell of a lot more votes.
LordDaMan on February 24, 2008 at 9:20 PM
Is he hoping for some kind of loaves-and-fishes miracle? ‘Cause I just don’t think he gots the skillz.
Tzetzes on February 24, 2008 at 9:39 PM
I don’t support Huckabee, and I never watch SNL, until I surfed in last night. Come on, it was funny!!
Last is First on February 24, 2008 at 9:46 PM
I conceed. Mike Huckabee is now the President of late night T.V. I haven’t kept perfect track but I think he has spent more time on late night than all the other canidates combined. In my opinion he has earned his own show.
Tim Pancoast on February 24, 2008 at 11:21 PM
I loved it! Great segment. He cracked me up. Still laughing. I’m writing in staccato sentences. Don’t know why. Gotta go. Bye….
(groan)
Skidd on February 25, 2008 at 12:32 AM
Huckabee is clearly now in this just for some sort of name recognition benefit. This is a future career booster device that has nothing to do with this campaign. Whatever dude. There are a lot of clever Americans that have figured out how to exploit their lack of shame. It’s like Johnny Knoxville.
JeffB. on February 25, 2008 at 2:31 AM
Nah, there are important differences between the two, but if there weren’t, Huckabee’s SNL appearance would be no difference at all. McCain’s been on the show before, too, and he wasn’t half bad, either.
Xrlq on February 25, 2008 at 6:49 AM
The skit that they passed on… SNL: “Rev. Huckabee, why do you stay in the race when you cannot possibly win?”
Reverend Huckabee: “I am on a mission from God: KEEP THE MORMON CULTIST OUT OF THE WHITE HOUSE!”
jimbo2008 on February 25, 2008 at 2:58 PM
