He’s been Castroted.

jgapinoy on February 24, 2008 at 10:35 PM

def: lost his Stones

jgapinoy on February 24, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Well, now that Castro is freed up from his Cuba gig, perhaps he could run for VP.

Tzetzes on February 24, 2008 at 10:36 PM

Basically, he believed the crap he was imprisoning people to enforce. And that makes him an honorable man in the eyes of the mentally ill.

Zaire67 on February 24, 2008 at 10:38 PM

Don’t kid McVain might call him!

HotAirExpert on February 24, 2008 at 10:39 PM

I go for the underdog

The brutal, torturing dictator is an underdog?

jgapinoy on February 24, 2008 at 10:39 PM

Obama = Castro

I’m cool with that. And, aparently, so is Stone. I just don’t want Castro running my country.

29Victor on February 24, 2008 at 10:41 PM

Hitler didn’t do it for the money, either. Holy crap, what an idiot!

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on February 24, 2008 at 10:41 PM

Which socialist has fleeced his people for more cash (or for more years)–Castro of Cuba or ex-KKK of W. Va.?

jgapinoy on February 24, 2008 at 10:41 PM

Excellent point Attila

Hitler did what he did for the good of the German people. He saw himself as a “strong man.”

29Victor on February 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM

Political Reality,Oliver Stone.

And All the World is a stage!

canopfor on February 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM

I swear I thought that was a picture of Saddam and Castro

William Amos on February 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM

And Benito Mussolini was only tring to improve
the quality of pizza for Italy!

canopfor on February 24, 2008 at 10:46 PM

Obama campaign to Stone: “Thanks!”

Yoosaion on February 24, 2008 at 10:46 PM

Sigh. I thought I could escape propoganda by not watching the Oscars.

jgapinoy on February 24, 2008 at 10:49 PM

I see.

So why is it that “questioning the political reality” only works one way with guys like Oliver?

Riposte on February 24, 2008 at 10:58 PM

Who needs profit when you can tax the 7311 out of enslave your subjects. News to Idiot Stone – Castro didn’t need to do it for profits, he did it for power! Castro lived in the best house in Cuba, while the people live in abject poverty.

PrettyD_Vicious on February 24, 2008 at 10:59 PM

As I heard that, I wondered how bad it will be for Barry O during the general.

I see a point where the press will be Generals on his front. At the same time, I wonder if the public is a stupid as I think they are,

A lot of comments here say that he is unbeatable. I say he is, due to the fact that as his socialist policies come to light, people in general will not stand for it….then again, our society has been “dumbed down”…you know what I am blaming it on (NEA).. a dumbed down electorate.

I believe in hope, that he does not get elected. And I believe in change, that gets rid of the NEA, IRS and the socialist/fascist ways of the future

lsutiger on February 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM

NEW YORK (Reuters) — Cuban President Fidel Castro was furious when Forbes magazine estimated his fortune at $550 million last year. This year (2006), the magazine upped its estimate of the communist leader’s wealth to a cool $900 million.

Idiot leftie intelligentsia!

Entelechy on February 24, 2008 at 11:06 PM

And he didn’t have to die to get his virgins.

davidk on February 24, 2008 at 11:09 PM

I swear I thought that was a picture of Saddam and Castro

William Amos on February 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM

I did, too.

davidk on February 24, 2008 at 11:11 PM

I don’t have adequate words to express how ridiculous that was.

CP on February 24, 2008 at 11:29 PM

Bellevue called Oliver, your room is ready.

fogw on February 24, 2008 at 11:31 PM

The leftists have to do more than wear blinders…all that pot smoking, ecstacy, coke, and booze must be damaging that part of the brain capable of critical thinking.

Castro = the underdog? My G-d, he has no competition, they’ve been killed by Fidel!

Does the left love every murderous neo-Stalinist? I know they love the original.

stonemeister on February 24, 2008 at 11:31 PM

He refers to a “very interesting guerilla war” like it’s a frickin basketball game.

What a tool.

BadgerHawk on February 24, 2008 at 11:48 PM

When I first looked at that face, I thought it was Saddam. Do you see it?

Tzetzes on February 24, 2008 at 11:58 PM

Oliver Stone and reality haven’t spoken in years.

joewm315 on February 25, 2008 at 12:00 AM

The leftards love dictators (”liberators”) who demand what they want. (Killing people for “social justice” as opposed to fighting for mundane things like “freedom of speech”.)

Making them all potential dictators.

They only call them “dictators” who oppose their dictates.

Little Wahabbis and Lenins, posing as Washingtons and Lincolns.

Forgetting that Washingtons and Lincolns relinquish power at the end of their terms, while blood-soaked their idols never do.

Until they can’t rise up from their deathbeaths any higher than to annoint the next killer thug in line.

profitsbeard on February 25, 2008 at 12:44 AM

Jeez, I hope Ollie wiped his chin when he was done. I also wonder how the citizens of Cuba like being enslaved by an “underdog.” What a dope.

Mallard T. Drake on February 25, 2008 at 2:25 AM

B-but, he fought against a dictator!

[/irony]

Sean M. on February 25, 2008 at 3:15 AM

After hearing this, I think we can all rest assured that his upcoming George W. Bush biopic will be everything less than the “fair” look at our current president’s life Stone has promised it will be.

But, let me get this straight… it’s good that Castro didn’t torture and enslave his own people for money, right? Therefore, it must be equally wrong of Mr. Stone to expect me to be enslaved by sitting through one of his many torturous films; particularly if I have to pay for it.

I also find it amusing that in the first half of the dialogue, he practically admits to being a buffoon (”…my problem is I always root for the underdog…”) for sympathizing with such an unlikable and cruel ruler. And if Obama is the new Castro… I’m taking a second, third, fourth, and five-hundreth look at moving to Australia.

I think we can all learn a lesson here: It’s okay to dictate the lives of your own citizens, to torture them, to subject them to your own tyranny… so long as you don’t do it for money. No, seriously! Authoritarian Power + Captive Audience – Money = Saintliness. Therefore the same equation plus money must equal:

An Oliver Stone Picture

Jockolantern on February 25, 2008 at 5:08 AM

I wonder if he could replace ‘Castro’ with ‘Osama’, and still be so supportive. I bet he could. Sicko.

Kevin M on February 25, 2008 at 5:12 AM

He’s vain, we’re all vain. Yeah, Ollie, and Hitler was harsh, like, you know, we all can be harsh at times.

windbag on February 25, 2008 at 5:21 AM

Why all the Talk of Hitler? Don’t you know World War 2 was wrong? And what were we doing in Hawaii Anyway?

Gwillie on February 25, 2008 at 7:15 AM

“He was the Muhammed Ali

uptight on February 25, 2008 at 7:24 AM

OMG – IS OLIVER STONE ACTUALLY KHALID SHEIKH MOHAMMED?

here’s the evidence

I had to flip the image of the Islamoterrorist. Perhaps that makes Oliver Stone the “Anti-Khalid Sheikh Mohammed”

uptight on February 25, 2008 at 7:50 AM

I assume that Mr Stone is now living in Cuba and sharing his vast wealth with the government and the great citizens of the fantastic Cuban nation? NO?!?!? BUT WHY NOT??? WHY MR STONE WHY???

Well, if you do decide one day to practice what you preach and move to a hut or a one room apartment in Havana, could you please take Leo, Speilberg, Glover, et al with you when you leave? I know I’d feel better, and it would be a great gift to people of America. kthnxby.

Gartrip on February 25, 2008 at 8:07 AM

I wonder how many times Oliver looked at his Rolex during that interview.

Limerick on February 25, 2008 at 8:29 AM

twins! pompous and arrogant fools.

scalleywag on February 25, 2008 at 8:29 AM

If he looks like Sadaam, he no doubt was going for that Look. Note to Oliver.. Clooney says.. “Beards are In”..Go for the “Spider Hole” look and it will be two thumbs up for every Conspiracy Movie you make this Year.

LibsREvilDoers on February 25, 2008 at 8:32 AM

When you are only shown what the government or dictator wants to show you, you will only see what the dictator shows you. If you do not question you will be, or are, easily impressed.

Stop talking to the leader and talk with those on the receiving end of the dictators desires. Again you will find mindless robots serving the dictator.

Go one step further, and you will experience the real problem that the dictator talks about ending-poverty and the associated lifestyle it fosters, ill health, high crime, etc.

MSGTAS on February 25, 2008 at 9:22 AM

So-oo, the victim’s of Castro’s regime should be excuse the thirty years imprisonment because “he didn’t consider himself a bully” and acted on “ideals”. Hey Ollie, ya know what?

Hitler was acting on ideals and didn’t consider himself a bully either. He also was not looking for a profit, he considered everything he did as “What (was) best for the fatherland.” Hense the Volkswaggon (People’s car) that could be afforded by everyone.

The same for Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Mihn every other tyrant in history. ALL of the claimed to be doing “What was best for their people.” But you only remember this when you are attacking George W. Bush.

srhoades on February 25, 2008 at 9:29 AM

I wonder how this “pea brain” would respond if GW named his brother as the next president… officially.

hugo1 on February 25, 2008 at 11:10 AM

“question the political reality”??? Stone lost his sense of reality years ago – if he ever had one. (Too many snorts up the nose IMAO) Castro is a mass-murdering, totalitarian, thug dictator Mr. Stone, MUCH, MUCH WORSE than Batiste ever was!!

jimbo2008 on February 25, 2008 at 12:55 PM

OK…after I filled the fresh bucket I just hafta say:
Oliver Oliver, seldom before had a man stood for more–evil than Castro. Sounds like Oli has been down that dark thin, winding stairway without any banister because he has sunk to the bottom of the slimy barrel that is Hollyweird. The City of Dreams will never return to what it once was before the looneys took over. But I shed no tears for traitors.
I wonder if his descent is in direct correlation to the fact that very few people go to see his movies anymore…
