Hot Air embraces change
posted at 10:22 pm on February 24, 2008 by Michelle
A few business items as we head into a new week at Hot Air:
1) It is with regret that I announce that Bryan Preston has left the company. He has chosen to take a position as a producer with the Laura Ingraham radio show. We thank him for all the time and talent he devoted to making Hot Air a success. Please wish him all the best in his new endeavors.
2) We’ll be announcing an exciting new addition to Hot Air tomorrow morning. Stay tuned.
3) We will continue to pursue more livestreaming and multimedia additions on the site. More on that as it develops. If you have video editing skills (we are looking especially for someone with chroma key experience) and are interested in helping us continue Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch show, let us know at tips@hotair.com
4) Be sure to thank See-Dubya and Patterico for their guest-blogging. We’re honored to have them as part of the extended Hot Air family.
5) Please join me in taking this opportunity to thank the indefatigable Allahpundit for his ongoing role as Hot Air’s lead blogger, newshound, and guru. The Big A’s dedication, sharp eye, trademark wit, and independent spirit put the “Hot” and the “Air” in Hot Air 24/7. We’re lucky to have him.
6) Finally, let me take a moment to thank all of you for your tips, contributions, comments, support, and readership. You keep us aloft. Together, we’ve built one of the fastest-growing, vibrant online conservative communities over the past two years. Stay tuned as we evolve, improve, and move upward and onward. The adventure continues!

Bryan, you’ll be missed. Good luck in your new gig!
AP, you rock, man. Now we just have to get you on camera. Take a picture with that fancy iPhone, pronto! :)
Thanks for everything, Michelle!

Miss you Bryan!
Bubba Redneck on February 25, 2008 at 12:07 AM
Laura Ingraham’s got a good program. Bryan will fit in well there. I’ll miss his posts, though.
Fortunately, we’ve still got Allahpundit posting to keep it interesting. Just remember, we’re running low on Presidential candidates: try not to destroy too many.
The guest blogs from See-dubya and Patterico have been good, too. Let’s have more of them, as possible.
theregoestheneighborhood on February 25, 2008 at 12:12 AM
Bryan was great. But so is Laura, so best of luck, dude. Tell the Hammer she needs some new and cooler merchandise on her website!
Metro on February 25, 2008 at 12:13 AM
Hey Bryan! Congratulations! Sometimes change can be good. I pray it works out well for you!!!
AP, you are the best my man! Funny, insightful. Everything Michelle said. Very glad you are sticking around!
As for tomorrow’s announcement, I like the idea of having Michelle around more. See-Dubya is really good too. Hey whatever y’all have planned I’m sure will be great.
Sounds like winners all around!

All the best Bryan.
Will look for your wit and wisdom to keep showing up in the comments sections and for occasional guest appearances.

Good luck Bryan! I’ll miss having you accuse me of closet liberalism over me not being scared enough of liberal professors at Ivy League schools! lol seriously though, congrats and good luck!

It’s almost like… when the Beatles broke up. Laura is Yoko?
The Monster on February 25, 2008 at 12:42 AM
Good luck, Bryan! I’ll miss ya.
Maybe See-Dub can have a permanent appointment? Wouldn’t want to run AP ragged.
Thanks so much, AP, for all your hard work and humour. Glad you’ll still be around.
Thanks, Michelle, for being perhaps the most important conservative mind in the online community.
joewm315 on February 25, 2008 at 12:44 AM
WOW! I’m crushed! I’ll miss Bryan’s contribution to Hot Air in a big way. But I can’t blame him for jumping on board with The Laura Ingraham Radio Show. All the best to ya, Bryan! You’ll be missed!
O.K. Does this mean Allahpundit will be working overtime in the days to come and will have an even bigger reason to demand an iPhone from Michelle next Christmas???
Joshua P. Allem on February 25, 2008 at 12:46 AM
Bryan has been a huge part of the success of HotAir, and — regardless of any blogger burnout he may be feeling — I hope that he does not seek to permanently sign off these here interweb thingies. Best of luck in the new gig, and hope to see you around!
As far as Allah goes — he wrote the definitive work for the “mysterious disappearance and triumphant return” scenario. I hope he doesn’t pull that s*** again.

Adios Bryan!
Thanks for the excellent thoughts over the year.

Go Bryan. I am so happy for you. Movin on up. You will be missed. You have to promise to give us one of your trademark deep, poignant posts when the need arises.
Theworldisnotenough on February 25, 2008 at 12:51 AM
Bryan, thanks for everything.
Good luck with Laura. Maybe you can convince her to move her show to later in the day so it won’t air hours before dawn here on the west coast. Either that, or make the podcast of her show free.
AP thanks for your work too, you miserable overworked wretch.
Nessuno on February 25, 2008 at 12:54 AM
Wow, Bryan. Congratulations and well done. I am so happy for you.
MayBee on February 25, 2008 at 12:55 AM
I’m kinda torn here, I love reading Bryan’s articles, but on the other hand, he IS a Cowboys fan! Yuck!
Bry, thanks for all the great work, Aim High my Air Force brother.
Q: Who’s gonna take his place?
A: His position willed be filled but nobody can take Bryan’s place!
My guess is … Michelle Malkin. She the reason I signed up on Day One of Hot Air. Guess #2: Mitt Romney. If I’m right, then Tony’s the man who guessed it. If I’m wrong, nobody will even remember. It’s a win-win. Guess #3: Some dude nobody’s ever heard of.
Tony737 on February 25, 2008 at 12:57 AM
Heh.
Seconded, all of it.
MayBee on February 25, 2008 at 12:57 AM

Bryan-
Working for two of the most alluring and intelligent women alive, I can only say you don’t need a “Good luck!” but a “Well done!”
Throw us a frickin’ bone from time to time.
And watch those champagne corks.
You could poke an eye out with them!

Good luck, Bryan! I’m going to miss your posts. I hope you have a chance to guest blog from time to time.

Congratulations on the new gig, Bryan. Good luck with Laura’s show. I’ll have to start listening again. You and Allah have set a pretty high bar for the newbie to try and clear. Thanks to all the HotAir folks. Keep it rollin’ rollin’ rollin’…..

c-ya Bryan.
I thought your posts were the best and I find, with no Ian and no you, that my Hot Air regular visits are done4.
But after the anti-McCain lunacy I witnessed, I doubt that I’ll miss the mundane BS.

Hot Air rox big-time! Thanks, Michelle, for a great site, and to everyone responsible! I waited half of forever for registration to open up, and am glad I was able to jump in.

OK, Bryan is officially the luckiest bastard in the world. You’ll be missed here, brother. Best wishes.

Wow, I’m going to miss Bryan a lot. I hope he at least does an occasional guest bit here.
Thanks AP for keeping things going daily, and everyone else for your contributions.
Michelle, you have created my favorite place on the internet… It is really lacking one thing though:
YOU!
I miss the regular Vents…. Guess such things are going to be even more rare now, with Bryan gone.
LegendHasIt on February 25, 2008 at 4:20 AM
Bryan’s leaving? Multi-faceted blogging talent, whose writing, technical and musical talents helped make HA an interesting and fun place to hang out in the blogosphere. Irreplaceable, and will be missed. Best wishes on your future endeavors.
Bummer. Preston’s leaving throws the whole Evangelical-to-Atheist, Optimist-to-Pessimist blogging balance outta whack!
Second look Huckabee!
Er, no…
Return of Bethany!
Unlikely… (would be too distracting to AP, plus she’s rumored to be married.)
No worries. MM has a sharp eye for talent and introduced us to Bryan and AP, so we eagerly look forward to welcoming Hotair’s exciting new addition!
Thanks MM & AP for all your hard work keeping us the best informed readers in the blogosphere.
zb42 on February 25, 2008 at 4:26 AM
Best wish, Bryan! Have fun with Ingraham in the bunch. Should be a grand ol’ time. :)
An equally big “HOOAH!” must go out to AP for his blogging stamina. It just wouldn’t be Hot Air without our favorite Pundit.
Jockolantern on February 25, 2008 at 5:12 AM
Good luck Bryan, your intelligent commentary and news instincts made this site my first stop every morning, every day. You were a perfect balance for the mix here.
Allapundit, you keep us and the site honest by making us defend ourselves. You are the fire that purifies the ore.
And the master of robots.
Thank you, too to Michelle. You fight the good fight.
Texan on February 25, 2008 at 5:40 AM
Thanks Bryan. You will be missed.
BadBrad on February 25, 2008 at 5:52 AM
Michelle,
MAJOR loss! Over the last month, Bryan had the highest quality, most concise posts on the site. It’s hard to grow when your lead dog walks out the door. You need a radio talk show to build and KEEP a quality infrastructure, because of the revenue it would produce.
kflynn on February 25, 2008 at 5:52 AM
Thank you Bryan. I truly enjoyed your posts.

Farewell Bryan. I have enjoyed your work here and look forward to much improvement in the Laura Ingraham program.
gridlock2 on February 25, 2008 at 6:25 AM
Via con Dios Bryan.
Michelle,
I think many folks were lured here for your vents and have missed them. I wish you would start an “Audio Vent” The production would be less time and resource intensive.
Or what would really be awesome is a streaming i-radio show. Just 1 hour a day of some headline and opinion would go over big time. that one hour could have 10 or 15 minutes of ad time.
TheSitRep on February 25, 2008 at 6:38 AM
Congratulations, Bryan… and Good luck, Laura! :)

Thanks Allah, See-Dubya and Patterico, y’all are the best.

May God continue to Bless you all. Thanks for this oasis of sanity.

I just want to let the HotAir team know that they have recently replaced Little Green Footballs as my main, constantly-checked news source. It’s the constant updates, the quality posts and the great style you guys post in. Bryan was part of it, so it really really sucks that he’s living.

It was a happy day for the blogosphere (well, the right side of the blogosphere) when Michelle talked Allah out of retirement. I still had his old page in my bookmarks, just in the hope he’d be back. No one else comes close to his style.
Best of luck to Bryan, and to Michelle during the transition.

No teary eyed video tribute to Bryan with the slow mow video and the Ventilators classic “How to take a life”(my favorite slow song by them) in the background. But I guess since he was the video guy that can’t happen.
Hold on to your hat and wear clean underwear Bryan!

Congratulations Bryan! Sorry Michelle but you just lost the only reason for me to visit Hot Air…I choose not to stomach AP’s thinly veiled baiting on organized religion and candidates he doesn’t like on a supposedly conservative site. I dropped Hot Air after Bryan went on vacation last year and only recently returned. I hope for the site’s sake that Patterico & C-dubya can help maintain a balance.
DCJeff on February 25, 2008 at 10:04 AM
Where do I begin? I’ll take it in the order I got it:
- Thanks for the insightful posts and video production, Bryan. Congrats on getting the gig with Laura Ingraham. You will be missed here.
- I trust whoever steps into Bryan’s shoes will be quite qualified. I am sort of hoping it’s Sean Hackbarth (he does need drinking money after the Thompson campaign failed to catch outside the blogosphere).
- Wish I could say I had video editing experience, but I have a face for radio and a voice for print. I wonder if you could, er, borrow Katie from TownHall (that way, she could also start blogging again).
- Graci, see-dub and Patterico.
- Bravo Zulu, Big A. Keep up the good work.
- Thanks for having us here, Michelle. Even as my feed reader has bloated beyond my ability to read every last post in every last feed I have, you, AP, Bryan, the guest-bloggers, and the commenters have made Hot Air one of those where I do read every single post.
