Hot Air embraces change

A few business items as we head into a new week at Hot Air:

1) It is with regret that I announce that Bryan Preston has left the company. He has chosen to take a position as a producer with the Laura Ingraham radio show. We thank him for all the time and talent he devoted to making Hot Air a success. Please wish him all the best in his new endeavors.

2) We’ll be announcing an exciting new addition to Hot Air tomorrow morning. Stay tuned.

3) We will continue to pursue more livestreaming and multimedia additions on the site. More on that as it develops. If you have video editing skills (we are looking especially for someone with chroma key experience) and are interested in helping us continue Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch show, let us know at tips@hotair.com

4) Be sure to thank See-Dubya and Patterico for their guest-blogging. We’re honored to have them as part of the extended Hot Air family.

5) Please join me in taking this opportunity to thank the indefatigable Allahpundit for his ongoing role as Hot Air’s lead blogger, newshound, and guru. The Big A’s dedication, sharp eye, trademark wit, and independent spirit put the “Hot” and the “Air” in Hot Air 24/7. We’re lucky to have him.

6) Finally, let me take a moment to thank all of you for your tips, contributions, comments, support, and readership. You keep us aloft. Together, we’ve built one of the fastest-growing, vibrant online conservative communities over the past two years. Stay tuned as we evolve, improve, and move upward and onward. The adventure continues!

Aww.. I’m going to miss Bryan. Good luck with the new gig, bryan, and do stop in.

As for change, I’m a big fan of Obama’s message. I personally think we need more dimes, less nickels and pennies, and a quarter we can be proud of.

Nethicus on February 24, 2008 at 10:26 PM

Wow.

Good luck to Bryan, hope he has fun in his new spot.

mythicknight on February 24, 2008 at 10:27 PM

Change? I was looking for Hope, myself…

Good luck, Bryan!

HerrMorgenholz on February 24, 2008 at 10:29 PM

Thank you Michelle for starting this site. In the last two years this has become my favorite site for news and political perspectives. We will miss Bryan and I hope he has great success in his new position. Last but not least let us not forget Allahpundit. I know that some people give Allah a hard time occasionally but I love his dry sense of humor!

dawgyear on February 24, 2008 at 10:29 PM

Goodbye Bryan – best of luck for the future.

Allah is the man – first rate analysis, crafty comments, and an eagle eye for all those things that make indie conservatives tick.

Would be great if Robert Spencer’s show could continue – his tireless work and steadfastness against Islamic imperialism does all free people a service.

Pax americana on February 24, 2008 at 10:29 PM

Good luck to Bryan. He will remain in our prayers and thoughts as his career progresses.

bnelson44 on February 24, 2008 at 10:29 PM

Good luck to B.P. I know I’ll be listening.
I’m glad they’re going to pursue more “multimedia” endeavors. The “Vent” videos are what got me to start reading Hot Air. And A.P. keeps me reading every week.

Any gusses on to who (or what) the “new addition” is?

malan89 on February 24, 2008 at 10:29 PM

Bye, Bryan. Good luck.

bigmike87 on February 24, 2008 at 10:29 PM

Congrats on the move, Bryan. Now you’ll be makin’ that crazy blog radio money. Good luck!

Cuffy Meigs on February 24, 2008 at 10:31 PM

Is that the plural of “Gus”? Lol….guesses.

Congratulations Bryan! Your posts and insight will be missed. And AP, really, could you be any cooler? Great work by everyone, and thank you for giving us a great site to have fun in.

Congrats, and adios amigo. Seems relevant.

DannoJyd on February 24, 2008 at 10:41 PM

Bryan will be missed.

We’ll miss you Bryan – God bless you in your new endeavor!

Michelle & AP – thanks for a great forum! Hot Air is a must read for me.

Tim on February 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM

Best of luck to Bryan, and thanks to the rest of the crew (especially Allah) for the great coverage.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on February 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM

I am sorry to see Bryan go. I finally got to a point where I truly appreciated his writings (No offense AP). I could actually differentiate between his wording and others that posted here. He has a way with words.

I hope he does some substitute writings for HA in the future. Bt being on Ingram’s team, I am pretty sure it will be a cool transition.

I wish you the Best BP. Allah, this is the time for you to step up and prove yourself ( like you do everyday )…what am I saying?? Have I lost my mind?

Allah is all we need :)

…umm, and Michelle :)

lsutiger on February 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM

Good luck, Bryan. I always enjoyed your posts here on HA.

With that being said, bring on the “Change.”

Rick on February 24, 2008 at 10:43 PM

Thanks for everything Bryan. You are great and will be missed. I know you will make a great contribution to Laura’s already great show. I hope you come back from time-to-time to put us all in our places. Good luck!

edgehead on February 24, 2008 at 10:43 PM

Good luck Bryan. And a big thanks to the diety w/ mostest, Allahpundit. I remember him fondly from his early cranky ruminations on Islam’s’s version of the Keystone Kops, Al Qaeda. He makes teh Intarweb fun.

PeteRR on February 24, 2008 at 10:43 PM

We’ll be announcing an exciting new addition to Hot Air tomorrow morning.

Please please PLEEEEEASE let it be Michelle Malkin!

See ya Bryan, stop in and visit sometime.

Tony737 on February 24, 2008 at 10:45 PM

I prefer Allah any day of the week and triple on Sunday. So glad he isn’t leaving, I would be really upset.

Good luck to Bryan all the same, but long live Allahpundit!!

AprilOrit on February 24, 2008 at 10:45 PM

I guess I’ll add my congratulations to Bryan and tip my hat to
AP for his blogging sthat manages to provide (IMO) quality and quantity!

Oh and to Mrs Malkin as well for putting this place together.

Cheers!

VeniVidiVidic on February 24, 2008 at 10:46 PM

Best of luck, Bryan! Guest blog, please, when you can!

I wish I could help the site, but my skills are limited. I will continue to send tips in…a few of which have been used. Thanks for all that y’all do!

SouthernGent on February 24, 2008 at 10:47 PM

Oh, wow! Bryan did a wonderful job here and will be sorely missed. Good luck in your new endeavor, Bryan. Hope you will still check in here from time to time. (I hope Laura knows how lucky she is to have him).

Connie on February 24, 2008 at 10:47 PM

All the best to you Bryan…good luck!!
Keep up the good work, HA gang.

dont taze me bro on February 24, 2008 at 10:47 PM

Bless you Bryan, and your future. Thanks for all you have done here, and even before HA. Will you be singing on the radio now?
Fair warning is all we ask.
Its been great, thanks!
.
Please keep in touch.

So on with the speculation what’s the big news addition?

Surely not the Hammer?

AP can but dream! ;-)

VeniVidiVidic on February 24, 2008 at 10:47 PM

All the best to you Bryan, thank you for your always insightful contributions here, and I will be looking forward to hearing your input on Laura’s show.

:-)

infidel4life on February 24, 2008 at 10:48 PM

Good luck Bryan! I already enjoy listening to Laura, now I’ll get to enjoy it even more.

p0s3r on February 24, 2008 at 10:49 PM

Best of luck Bryan. Hope your career continues to grow in measure with your considerable talent.

dedalus on February 24, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Bryan, God bless you brother and congrats on the new position. You’ve been great at HotAir and have not only contributed your technical talent, but also have offered much thoughtful insight. All the best to you!

CP on February 24, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Wow, good luck Bryan. Don’t forget the little people now that you are big time!

This is a great site. The first and last that I check everyday and all hours in-between. HOPE is doesn’t CHANGE to much…I don’t like CHANGE.

Vigilante on February 24, 2008 at 10:50 PM

Good luck Bryan. You’ll be missed.

Best to you, Bryan. Please come back when AP’s on vacation!
Thanks, Michelle & AP–I’m here every day & lovin’ it!

1) It is with regret that I announce that Bryan Preston has left the company. He has chosen to take a position as a producer with the Laura Ingraham radio show. We thank him for all the time and talent he devoted to making Hot Air a success. Please wish him all the best in his new endeavors.

First he gets quoted by the MSM, then he gets put on an interview with Tammy Bruce… then Bryan leaves us. Don’t go into the light Bryan! Being Hollywood only works well for so long!

Just kidding.

Good luck Bryan.

AP rocks! We’ll never have to insert “with terrorists” in his moniker! Hopefully AP won’t be too lonely with Bryan gone.

Hmmm… maybe you can get MKH to take Bryan’s place…

reliapundit on February 24, 2008 at 10:56 PM

Bryan will be missed. And of course, best wishes to him in his new endeavor. I’d say, who am I going to butt heads with on John McCain…but…;-) You’ll be missed, sir.

And yes…see-dub has done an excellent job, very thorough and informative. Patterico as well.

As for AP…goes without saying. I sincerely hope the “Big A” isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. He truly makes HotAir the best of the best.

JetBoy on February 24, 2008 at 10:56 PM

Best of luck and Godspeed Bryan. I will miss your indepth articles and your music most of all.

What of the Ventilators? Will there ever be a reunion?

To Michelle, you’re quite the boss. All the best, aloha!

Kini on February 24, 2008 at 10:57 PM

Wow. I was expecting some notes on format or something, but that is very significant change.

Bryan – Best of luck. Perhaps I’ll tune into listen to Laura now, as I’ve appreciated the work you have done here. If I may say so, reading between the lines of your posts here, I think your decision may yield satisfaction. Cheers pal.

As to AP, he remains the Barry Sanders of blogging, as the commercial once referred to him: greatness.com. Always at the peak of his game, and at a level with few, if any, peers. Much appreciated, much enjoyed. I can only hope he enjoys what he does half as much I enjoy the fruits of that labor.

Spirit of 1776 on February 24, 2008 at 10:57 PM

tlynch001 on February 24, 2008 at 10:59 PM

Thanks for blogging for us, Bryan. Good luck.

Please join me in taking this opportunity to thank the indefatigable Allahpundit for his ongoing role as Hot Air’s lead blogger, newshound, and guru. The Big A’s dedication, sharp eye, trademark wit, and independent spirit put the “Hot” and the “Air” in Hot Air 24/7. We’re lucky to have him.

Amen.

jaime on February 24, 2008 at 11:01 PM

Well dang! That’s not good news for me. I’ll miss Bryan’s posts. I liked his writing style and perspective. But time marches on and things change so, congratulations Bryan and all the best with your new position.

maxine on February 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM

Much luck to Bryan. I wish Hot Air continued success!

Pam on February 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM

Kudos, Brian. We’ll miss you. I remember how hard you worked (along with the boss!) putting this site up– the Vents, the posts, etc…

Michelle and staff, thanks again for this amazing site and all your hard work. Hot Air is informative, a great research tool, and funny as hell– keep it up.

Now, Big A, please hit us up with some more Japanese-human-tetris-game-show clips.

Pasalubong on February 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM

I hope Bryan occasionally drops by to do an occasional guest post, just to say hello. As for the replacement. Now I’ve gotta take a stab in the dark and guess who’ll be the new guy. My first guess is Karl at Protein Wisdom, my second guess is Rick Moran.

doubleplusundead on February 24, 2008 at 11:04 PM

That is the problem with being good. Everyone wants you.

Best of luck to Bryan and Kudos to Allah for keeping us happy here.

And thanks Michelle for recognition on stories I have sent it and thanks for such a great blog.

William Amos on February 24, 2008 at 11:04 PM

I meant to add (as usual)…

Half the reason I love HotAir so much is the quality and integrity of the bloggers. The other half is me fellow commenters. You guys and gals make me laugh, cry, and tick me off. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

JetBoy on February 24, 2008 at 11:04 PM

Allahpundit further consolidates his power.

Well played sir.

zane on February 24, 2008 at 11:06 PM

Okay, and my third guess is a big stretch, but I’m gonna guess its Slublog.

doubleplusundead on February 24, 2008 at 11:07 PM

I’ll make a number 4 pick, just for the hell of it, and guess See-Dub.

doubleplusundead on February 24, 2008 at 11:09 PM

Congratulations Bryan. I’m sure you’ll be a great producer.

Its kinda weird. Somebody I don’t know, have never met, and probably never will meet, just switched jobs and it sorta feels like a close friend is moving away.

These internet tubes sure are a crazy thing.

wink on February 24, 2008 at 11:09 PM

Good luck, Bryan. When you get time to do some videos, send them here to share with us. You’re a talented guy.

Allah, thanks for being the lead blogger here. Your strength is your lightning quick anaylsis of the many, varied elements of news items. Amazes me at times.

Michelle, thanks for your vision and many talents. I’m happy that you’re planning on more multimedia presentations. I loved when you used to give a daily opinion piece. It was my favorite part of my favorite site.

To all commenters, you also make this a fun place to hang out. Many of you provide intelligent insights and new ways of thinking through common news items. Continue to be respectful in thought and deed to show the reading public that here is the place to be!

God Bless everyone.

Wow, turn on the computer for an evening blog roundup, and I see that “the CHANGE, it had to come” to Hot Air. (apologies to Pete Townsend)

Bryan, good luck at your new job. I will miss your writing and occasional musical ventillations. I wish I could have bosses as cool as Michelle and Laura.

If there’s another Gathering Of Eagles, who will be behind the camera pointing at Michelle? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

A huge shout-out to the B-dude

Love me some Hot Air. I will miss Bryan but look forward to what he brings to Laura’s show. See Dubya and Patterico bring great stories to our attention, but…Allahpundit brings the magic home. I have no doubt Hot Air will become the premier conservative blog for no other reason than the quality and honesty this blog brings to the blogosphere every day. Great work all of you!

Looking forward to our new addition Michelle!

Always loved you Bryan, in a Platonic way, of course. I will never forget that first phase of HOTAiR. It will never be the same again, but it already wasn’t any more, anyway. It’s not worse, just very different, especially lately. All in life changes, and so it is with HA, and with our jobs.

AP, S-D and Patterico, you already know how much I love you all, but this is not your day of leaving, nor your funeral.

All the best Bryan, and look only forward. With fond regards,

Bryan,

You will be greatly missed here. But Hot Air’s loss is certainly Laura’s gain.

All my best to you,
