Video: Chelsea does the hula

Poor Chelsea Clinton is working hard. Speaking Spanish and staving off pro-life protesters. Suffering silent humiliation while mom bashes her hedge fund manager bosses. Battling pro-Obama hecklers. It’s hard out there for a Clinton.

At least they flew her out to Hawaii for a brief moment of fun in the sun. Don’t sweat it too much, dear. It’ll soon be all over and remember what Mom said last night: “Whatever happens, we’re going to be fine.”

terryannonline on February 22, 2008 at 10:24 PM

I get the sense that Chelsea is embarrassed by it all and would like to just go away and live a normal life. Anyone want to bet she gets married in the next year or so and starts pumpin out babies? She’ll have 4 or 5 before she is done and will always say, “Politics? I’m too busy being a mom.”

peacenprosperity on February 22, 2008 at 10:25 PM

May she one day escape the stigma of her parents (and blind adoration as well) to be viewed on her own merits. An HRC defeat would go someway to that I expect.

Spirit of 1776 on February 22, 2008 at 10:26 PM

Where’s the post about Meghan McCain in her keffiyeh, Michelle?

SnarkVader on February 22, 2008 at 10:28 PM

My hope for Chelsea is that she will find a strong inner moral construct independent of her parents and that she will not forget but surpass the white trash of her DNA. It can be done, I seen it.

This will be inconvenient for Hillary if it happens, but somehow I think Bill might just approve.

Well, yeah, vodka changes your perspective. Take the above with a grain of salt and a twist of lemon.

Remember when she was an ugly kid? Who was it on Saturday Night Live that called her a babe-in-waiting that had her parents so upset?

She seems pretty well-adjusted in spite of her parents. God’s grace happens.

baldilocks on February 22, 2008 at 10:40 PM

Talk about uncomfortable! Not the dancing, mind you, but having to shill for her dysfunctional family under penalty of the Clinton Crime Family. If she didn’t do that pathetic hula she’d be swimming with the fishes.

If she feeels half as bad as do to participate in this sham we are calling a Presidential campaign , I can forgive her. The endless debates over the same meaningless issues, the media driven soundbites, the candidates ritual self abasement, and the billion dollars wasted in the pursuit of a 400,000.00+ dollar a year job, baffle me. What in the name of all that is holy happened to our country? Why is this the best we can do?

Mind you, I’m not crying for her, but that is her mom she’s shilling for for chrissakes- you do have to expect some. In any event, she hasn’t been overtly political, at least from what I know. I tend to think that well, maybe she doesn’t get a free pass, but I can forgive her the sins of her father and mother.

and good point on “before that, no press allowed”.

I think it’s fair to say “leave the children out of it”, but gimme a break, she’s old enough to run for Congress, and she’s out there putting her face on a campaign.

She’s open to criticism, but anyone attacking her because of her parents is a classless jerk. Criticize her on the merits of her opinions, just like anyone else.

She’d probably appreciate that. She’s a big girl now.

Saltysam on February 23, 2008 at 12:31 AM

pro-life protesters
Here’s an argument I captured last week when I attended a Hillary rally.

terryannonline on February 22, 2008 at 10:24 PM

terryannonline,

I enjoyed a quick visit to your web site.

That was a typical video clip of abortion choicers getting all in a huff in righteous indignation over someone who has the audacity to oppose abortion, and resulting in abortion choicers expecting life choicers to lay down and die quietly, otherwise they will be accused of being mean and forcing their beliefs onto others. “Who are YOU to oppose abortion?”

Sick!

It is clear to me that

1) People who support abortion are insensitive, cruel, inhumane, and disrespectful of living human beings’ right to live.

2) Most of those in # 1 don’t possess knowledge of basic Human Embryology 101, or ignore it and are in denial, and tend to make scientifically inaccurate statements, such as “it’s not human, it’s only a blob of cells, it’s not alive, it’s only potential life” and other foolish, scientifically inaccurate statements regarding who is living, developing, and wiggling inside mother’s womb.

3) Many, if not most abortion choicers prefer to avoid personal responsibility and confuse the killing living human beings by abortion techniques those who THEY brought into existence via sexual behavior with “taking responsibility.” It isn’t.

Once they cause the new person to be alive, which occurs at conception-fertilization in sexual reproduction, and also occurs in asexual reproduction inside the woman’s body, resulting in twinning, triplets, etc.,. as well as occurring outside the woman’s body, sexually and asexually, as in IVF procedures and treatments, and ARTS procedures, including blastomere separation, bastocyst splitting (resulting in twinning), and many more that I won’t mention here, as well as forms of cloning, such as Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT), and Germ Line Cell Nuclear Transfer (GLCNT), then it becomes the parents of the child’s natural, inherent responsibility to protect and nurture their child, not kill her!

Nevertheless, there is a very large segment of not only our population, but of the world’s population which is involved with pushing an agenda of comfort and “escape” from personal responsibility. In abortion, people have a short cut escape route, a form of “birth control” in that it kills a living human being, their own offspring!

I cannot wait until it is illegal and that its illegality is enforced to the fullest extent of the law. That would be great for our culture, our society, and our mores and values as a nation, lifting us out of the gutter and into a higher level of respect for others as well as for ourselves and our actions.

Nevertheless, there is always someone who is an abortion choicers who will scream “Who are YOU to force YOUR beliefs on others?!!!?”

The response is clearly “Do you oppose rape, murder, assault and battery, robbery, car theft, kidnapping, child abuse, pedophilia, animal torture, etc.?”

Of course they do.

Then, if they oppose rape, murder, and other violent, abhorrent crimes and behavior, are they not also pushing YOUR beliefs on others?

Of course they are!

The clincher is, by pushing and supporting abortion, they ARE pushing their beliefs on others, and that belief results in the death of a living human being, the human baby who is aborted.

Not only is she older, but like Bill, she is stumping. She spoke yesterday in San Antonio, and all the news stations played her clips. It’s the same tired rhetoric. Blasting corporations and high wage earners and railing how they need to pay more for everyone else’s benefits. She is echoing and championing all her mom’s causes. She cannot have it both ways. If she’s going to regurgitate and further the party line, then she cannot hide from the crossfire. This truly is a family affair.

Don’t y’all get your knickers all twisted up-nobody is going after a ‘kid’. She’s an adult, and she’s campaigning for her mother.
If there had been blogging during the Clinton years, while Chelsea was a child, her name would be absent-no one would ‘pick on a kid’.
All for naught. I think HClinton is about done; the final nail in the coffin-at the debate the other night she was gushing about how proud she was to be standing on the same stage as Barack Obama. She knows she’s beat, and after Texas, she’ll get on the Obama bandwagon, hoping for the Veep slot.

Shilling for mom, but she won’t answer any questions or allow any interviews. And you’re a bad person if you criticize her for it. Puhhhleeze.

petefrt on February 23, 2008 at 8:28 AM

For crying out loud what do you really expect from the child of any candidate? If they don’t campaign they are criticized as one of Reagan’s kids was (or Rudy’s for the younguns here). If they do campaign they were criticized as Reagan’s kids (or the Bush twins for the younguns) or in this case Chelsea.
Much ado about well….nothing.
Those who admit to being younger than her are showing the poor job our schools do of teaching history.

Bradky on February 23, 2008 at 8:30 AM

I feel bad for her. She’s just trying to help mum.

AbaddonsReign on February 23, 2008 at 9:12 AM

Clarification: Shilling for mom is to be expected. It’s her refusal to interact and answer questions that’s the first problem, and Hillary’s self-righteous indignation at any criticism of her that’s the second problem. Either she’s a player in the political game or she’s not. Can’t have cake and eat it too.

petefrt on February 23, 2008 at 9:17 AM

This thread shows how Republicans are really no different than Dems in many regards. Both sides are ripe with invective; insults displace logic. What does Chelsea’s appearance have to do with anything?

I don’t know if it’s sexism or residual cave dust infecting one’s brain, but to hear grown men disparaging a young woman who has done no discernable wrong, is disgusting.

Some of you sound like the same type of men who talk shit about a woman because she spurned their advances. I don’t know Chelsea. But I respect her role in honoring her parents and weathering the storm of crap for being a good daughter.

If she had not campaigned with her parents, she would have been ridiculed just the same. I see no reason to attack her. Her parents, on the other hand, are without regard.

RE: Deport Pedro

I despise my country’s permissive posturing on the issue of illegal immigration. I believe Ronald Reagan had a chance to prevent the current flood of foreign nationals invading our country. I believe every President since then, except GWB has ignored the issue. President Bush did not ignore the issue, but he ignored Americans with his push for Amnesty.

I am disgusted with illegal immigration and its impact on our neighborhoods, schools, hospitals, traffic, cities, states and our nation’s sovereignty.

That being said, I equally despise such shallow displays of thoughtlessness as the one on this t-shirt. I have known many Pedros. I have known many illegals. None of the Pedros I know are illegal.

That type of ethnic insult is valid ammo for the other side when they call us “nativists.” A shirt like that goes a long way at proving their perceptions. It does zero to advance America’s fight for a secure border.

I have the same response to this shirt as I did the first time someone told me to “Go back to Africa!”

take away:
I am proud to see another young, presumably Republican, being proactive, political and bold. I’m sorry the message was so lousy.

The mind boggles at the thought of Chelsea refusing to campaign for her mother’s run at the Presidency. Even if Hillary were to win 2 terms, the presidency will be over one day, but Chelsea will only ever have one mother.

So as long as she shows a little grace and doesn’t carry on like a leftist fruitcake — granted, a hard line to walk in the Hillary campaign — I think we should cut her some slack.

She’s a hedge fund manager? Sounds like a Republican-in-waiting. Wouldn’t that be ironic?

Pretty inane. Must have been a slow news day. I personally don’t have much use for Chelsea since she wants to campaign for Hillery but won’t do interviews. She doesn’t want any accountability for what she says.
