China calls on US to provide data on satellite shootdown

China further requests that the US fulfil its international obligations in earnest and promptly provide to the international community the necessary information and relevant data… so that relevant countries can take precautions.

Yes they did, the sat they took out was in a steady orbit 500 miles up, and in the process caused an orbit to be lost because of the debris still floating around.

Shooting down a satellite in a steady orbit is “not difficult” (used loosely). The F-15 did that in the 80′s. USSR had anti-sat satellite’s back then as well.

When you have a satellite in a decayed orbit traveling that fast, with no risk of loosing an orbit because the debris will re-enter in 40 days or so, it is a perfect ABM test.

I’m sure someone thought it or said it. But if that satellite fell and was partly intact upon reentry, it could have given away secrets that could harm our national security. It was the right thing to do and it proves our missile defense works. So double bonus.

Never understood the leftist aversion to missile defense. Why, it’s almost like they want us to be defenseless against an incoming ICBM.
