Open thread: The “Last chance, loser” debate

posted at 7:24 pm on February 21, 2008 by Allahpundit
Send to a Friend | printer-friendly

8 p.m. on CNN. All that stands between us and a guy capable of raising more than $2 million a day is this horrible, feeble loser. I asked you before but I’ll ask you again: Is there anything left in that bottomless bag o’ Clintonian tricks? She’s not actually going to go out there and drone about “experience” for the 20th debate in a row, is she? Dear lord, Hillary, at least give us a meltdown to remember you by.

If she complies, there’ll be video here later. In the meantime, take heart from this. It’s the storied Buffenbarger bootleg — the longest sustained evisceration of the Messiah yet on record. Pretty dull, but with a little coaching from BJ our gal could package it just right for the TV audience. Watch the first minute, then skip ahead to 8:00 or so and stick with it for another 90 seconds. Eye of the tiger, baby.

Hillary should have asked if Deval Patrick is more qualified for the Presidency than Obama since they both have the same positions and Obama gives Deval’s speeches.

rw on February 21, 2008 at 9:07 PM

O: We are going to give EVERYONE health insurance as good as that that people in Congress get.

ME: That should cost about four trillion a year Barack.
How ya going to pay for it?

If they elect either of these bozos and they get 1/4 of their agenda passed, they are going to force ‘Atlas to Shrug’

Then Obama could come back with “is Bill going to be President again since Hillary keeps runnning on HIS record” ;-)

Ese tiempo esta llegando mas pronto de lo que piensas Gringos como Juan el Vengativa pronto sera el Presidente de America del Norte con mí el verdadero poder detras de la lanzada.

Oh I am so sorry. Some of you Gringos are probably slow in learning your new language.

That time is coming sooner than you think Gringos as Juan el Vengeful will soon be el Presidente de America del Norte with me the real power behind the thrown.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform failed miserably TWICE. It failed even worse the second time around. And bringing it back is a campaign pledge???

GogglesPisano on February 21, 2008 at 9:15 PM

This is no longer even close to amusing.

It is frightening.

Both of them are running for dictator, not president.

No wonder they want to talk to Raoul Castro. They want pointers.

I wouldn’t believe much of this. Captains are normally in charge of Companies of 300 men or so, not platoons of 39 men.

Dorvillian — he said it. Meant it, too.

Can’t imagine anything worse than having either BO or HRC having any authority over anyone, anywhere.

MrScribbler on February 21, 2008 at 9:29 PM

Ironic, isn’t it, that these two have to spend most of their time trying to prove they know what they’re talking about?

Connie on February 21, 2008 at 9:30 PM

I was shouting at the TV “Don’t forget, Silky.” Hillary forgot to mention Obama’s blatant plagiarizing of John Edwards. Silky isn’t part of Obama’s campaign.
Having said that, I no longer believe Obama is just a guy who makes pretty speeches. There’s a lot more to him than that. He’s smart, and he’s cleaning Hillary’s clock tonight. He does have a bunch of policies to back up the pretty speeches (They’re all wrong, of course). The problem remains, however, that Obama’s three overused buzzwords “Hope, Change & Unity” are just plain inappropriate. Change? He offers the tired old socialism that has failed all over the world. Hope? There’s nothing hopeful about socialism. Unity? Obama is the number one Liberal US Senator. Reaching across the aisle is not his bag, baby.
Phrases like “We are the change we’ve been waiting for” are just plain gibberish. If he can cut out that stuff he’ll be a more formidable candidate.

canopfor on February 21, 2008 at 9:37 PM

Is Nobama going to fart now?

Connie on February 21, 2008 at 9:38 PM

OK, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that Obama just misunderstood what the Captain was telling him about the Taliban weapons(If the whole discussion isn’t a COMPLETE LIE, which it probably was).

Back in the day, there were many times that we used the enemy’s weapons. Not because we didn’t have access to better stuff, but because we ’snake-eaters’ didn’t want the bad guys to know that Americans were operating in the area.

Given that he has no clue about military affairs, maybe the Captain was just telling ‘war stories’ and Obama thought it was a lack, rather than a tactical ploy.

When they were tested

The two candidates are asked to name a moment when they were tested, a question that has real bearing on the presidency, which is a constant series of agonizing decision, which all have to be made.

And both, basically, duck. Obama cites the “trajectory of my whole life” and then describes…his whole life. Clinton jokes that “everybody knows” about the political crises of the 1990s, but that she’s struck by how much harder others’ lives are.

Clinton’s answer was a stronger performance; Obama seems like he’s about ready to get out of here.

But on the substance, everyone can think of John McCain’s answer to the question of when he’s been tested. And it offers a hint of the vulnerability either could face in the general election.

She looked like a menopausal deer in the headlights when she wasn’t fawning for attention from him, Campbell Brown and the audience.

She’s really a mess. There is nothing more boring than a person who starts to tell you about themselves and what they do everyday while trying to convince us that they are legitamate.

Howard Wolfson has lost his mind or never had one, either or, and she only reinforced the notion that she will not back down, even if Barama beats her.
