Open thread: The “Last chance, loser” debate

posted at 7:24 pm on February 21, 2008 by Allahpundit

8 p.m. on CNN. All that stands between us and a guy capable of raising more than $2 million a day is this horrible, feeble loser. I asked you before but I’ll ask you again: Is there anything left in that bottomless bag o’ Clintonian tricks? She’s not actually going to go out there and drone about “experience” for the 20th debate in a row, is she? Dear lord, Hillary, at least give us a meltdown to remember you by.

If she complies, there’ll be video here later. In the meantime, take heart from this. It’s the storied Buffenbarger bootleg — the longest sustained evisceration of the Messiah yet on record. Pretty dull, but with a little coaching from BJ our gal could package it just right for the TV audience. Watch the first minute, then skip ahead to 8:00 or so and stick with it for another 90 seconds. Eye of the tiger, baby.

The Republican Party is done. It’s time to form a new one.

She MUST go to the right of him tonight to attract any moderates and independents who will vote for her now that McCain has it wrapped up (and with conservatives rallying). It’ll be an extremely tight rope for her to do that, but she has no other choice. On “the war”, she can say she voted for the war and that we are winning the war, and she can thank the troops for saving 3 of her fellow senators…if she dares. Otherwise, she has no chance…especially if CNN asks her about her husband’s legacy in Kosovo. Honestly, I can’t bear to watch it so I’ll just read the cliff notes tomorrow or later tonight.

People talk about how Tough a campaigner Obama is. But I mean how hard is it to beat Hillary, Edwards and Dennis Kucinich ?

Its not like the Dems have the A team out there.

William Amos on February 21, 2008 at 7:34 PM

It wouldn’t be hard to head off the emptiness, if the Republicans actually had a candidate, someone who inspired more than a need to go to the bathroom. The coattails will be huge … won’t they?

The notion that hate Hillary would be the winning Republican ticket is melting faster than she is, it now seems like a misguided whimsical wish and built solely on hope. Hope is viscous partner, near always lets you down.

That’s what happens when the drive by media chooses the opposing candidate.

tarpon on February 21, 2008 at 7:37 PM

Buh-bye Hil…you’re so worthless you couldn’t even win when your enemies were actually pulling for ya. I like to think of this as a trial run of what your presidency would have been like: FAIL! Of course, his Obama-ness is no better (and much worse in many regards) for the country, but at least he could win something.

Here’s my scenario for what will transpire in the debate tonight:

The moderator asks Sen Clinton a good question, to which Clinton does her cackle laugh. She gives her cackle but then abruptly stops in a straight face. Sen Clinton proceeds to scan to the left and right of the stage, then up and down. She leans forward on her podium towards the moderator and says “I’ll be back.” After saying this, she walks off stage.

There is a long moment of silence as everybody is wondering what the heck just happened. Then there is the sound of a car starting, its engine rev’ing, then the squealing of tires. In the next moment, an old Ford POS barrels out from where Sen Clinton had left. At a blinding speed, the Ford smashes over both podiums, including Sen Obama, killing him instantly, before smashing to a stop by hitting some of the stage’s supports. Everyone is completely shocked at the event, unable to move from witnessing such a horrible murder. At the same time, the millions watching freeze whatever they’re doing and stare at the TV, waiting in anticipation at what will transpire next. Everyone stares in wide-eyed amazement as the driver door opens and Sen Hillary Clinton steps out.

With utmost precision, Sen Clinton finishes getting out of the car and walks around to the front of the stage. The only sound you can hear in the room is Hillary walking over some broken wood and other debris on the floor of the stage. She stares directly into the camera, glowing red eyes burn bright as she speaks in a monotonous tone:

“I am Skynet!”

—–

And now you know why we haven’t had a war with machines yet.

Weebork on February 21, 2008 at 7:45 PM

Snoozefest or Lovefest?

fogw on February 21, 2008 at 8:28 PM

Not a lovefest like last time. Kind of scary actually; Obama seems very naive – but frankly in a way that plays to his theme, ie not the status quo.

And I’m SO tired of Clinton and her “George Bush’s war on/in…Iraq/education/science/etc.” I won’t miss that when it’s finally gone.

Spirit of 1776 on February 21, 2008 at 8:31 PM

I’m glad Hussein drew a line in the sand between rich and poor at $75000. Too bad I was thinking working my way up to 300k, 400k or more. Because now I know 2 things; 1) I’m going to be taxed to hell making more than 75k and 2) I now have no incentive to make above that amount.

Why not just say 70% or 80% of the population automatically makes or gets $75000 and everyone else earns that $75000.01 or more and gives anything above that back to the government?

BowHuntingTexas on February 21, 2008 at 8:32 PM

A couple of things I would like to see happen. Allow me to OPT out of social security and take the 12% money and put it to my personal retirement plan. Rebate a percentage of my ss contributions and let me put it into a 401k.
