No no, actually this was in Afghanistan, the “good war” where no one is stuck. Except, momentarily, John Kerry:
Helicopters carrying three senior U.S. senators made emergency landings Thursday in the mountains of Afghanistan because of a snowstorm.
Sens. John Kerry, Joseph Biden and Chuck Hagel were aboard the aircraft. No one was injured, according a statement from Kerry’s office. The senators and their delegation returned to Bagram Air Base in a motor convoy, and have left for Turkey.
“After several hours, the senators were evacuated by American troops and returned overland to Bagram Air Base, and left for their next scheduled stop in Ankara, Turkey,” the Kerry statement said. “Sen. Kerry thanks the American troops, who were terrific as always and who continue to do an incredible job in Afghanistan.”

It’s funny because we don’t like them (and they weren’t hurt).

Then they proceeded to complain that the US military is too undereducated to fix helocopters so that is why they crashed

I wonder if Kerry was superficially injured and if so, will he be writing his own Purple Heart Citation?

May not like them, but wish them home safe.
Perhaps they’ll learn a lesson and fund the troops.

They could have just driven away and left the three of them in the snow-covered mountains… just sayin’, is all.

Notice the lack of right-wing blogs issuing statements to the effect of wishing al-Qaeda and/or Taliban terrorists had ambushed the helicopter, or shot it down, murdering all on board. Notice the distinct lack of threads wishing brutal deaths upon all of these politicians. Had it been upstanding Republican senators, it’s a guarantee that leftists would’ve been showing their true colors.
Again.
Notice the difference between the ‘right wing’ Conservatives and the lefty (peace-loving) liberals.

Canada says Afghan mission will end in 2011 By Randall Palmer

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada’s minority Conservative government, bowing to a key opposition demand, said on Thursday its military mission in southern Afghanistan would end in 2011 and would not be extended.

Startling, isn’t it.
I can picture them now with their hunting jackets and caps with the ear flaps.
I wonder what the real purpose of their mission there was.

Is it too soon to start conspiracy-based rumors? I’m thinking that Chuck Schumer had a hand in this out of fear that the others would beat them to jumping in front of a news camera.

The only thing that I would enjoy is knowing that the three of them soiled their pants while waiting for rescue by ” the killers of civilians”. (Sorry, the Viet vet USMC region of my mind said that).

Is there any real precedent for senators visiting “war-zones” or even visiting other countries with diplomatic pretenses? It wouldn’t be an issue if they held polite disagreement with the President’s foreign policy, but supported it abroad because its their duty. Instead we get this trio visiting Afghanistan (IMO to lend credence to any future denunciation of the war - “I’ve been to Afghanistan…”) and Kucinich in Syria having breakfast and badmouthing our President.
So is any of this appropriate? Legal? I have no clue, but was hoping someone would have some insight…

Afghanistan is Genghis Khan territory. If this website is to be believed it belies his imagery that Genghis Khan was a ruthless, village-razing, conquerer.
For example -
Wanting no divisions rising from religion, he declared freedom of religion throughout his empire. Favoring order and tax producing prosperity, he forbade troops and local officials to abuse people.
Which demonstrates once again that Joking John Kerry can’t seem to get anything right.

Another ‘fact finding’ junket. VIPs, even in rear areas(no pun intended), are a royal pain in the keester. All the extra troops needed, coordination, communications, kowtowing……stay home and pick up the phone. Oh that’s right, you can’t believe your own generals about anything. These fellas were there for the ‘new’ administration to pave the way for surrender.

Our Troops somehow managed to rescue them despite having no armor, no guns, no food, no desire to be there, no morale, etc.
I don’t know how they did it.

Why are these bozos “over there” getting in the way of operations? Democratic, ego-friggin’ maniacs should all go to Paris instead to do their usual “we hate the country we represent” shtick, and let our troops get the job done without having to worry about these pinheads getting lost or snow on their suits.
Hening on February 22, 2008 at 7:08 AM
It’s called “humor”. It may be a bit sarcastic, but it’s still humor, and not a genuine wish that these guys are harmed. If there’s a genuine wish, it’s that we hope Senator Kerry learns to respect today’s military, instead of insulting their education level.
If you really want to fight against hate, how about asking the left to drop their “Bush is Hitler” [male bovine waste]?

Can you imagine what was going through their minds? Stuck in the mountains of Afghanistan where there are probably a few people there who are less than friendly towards Americans, and who would LOVE to capture a few senators as hostages…Meanwhile, fighting hypothermia in a blizzard. And your only hope of survival and transport to safety is the military?
Yeah, that was a tiny bit of karma, right dere.
