Bride of Messiah: Every woman I know is struggling to keep her head above water

posted at 6:10 pm on February 21, 2008 by Allahpundit

Really? I know several who are doing pretty well. Who’d have guessed that the circles I move in are more comfortable than a would-be First Lady’s?

I have to say that my life now is not really that much different from many of yours. I wake up every morning wondering how on earth I am going to pull off that next minor miracle to get through the day. I know that everybody in this room is going through this. That is the dilemma women face today. Every woman that I know, regardless of race, education, income, background, political affiliation, is struggling to keep her head above water.

We need to stop scrutinizing her speeches so closely. It’s obvious by now that she doesn’t particularly care what she says so long as the basic message is conveyed. It’s the same watery leftist pap peddled by the Godhead himself; he simply pays closer attention to the actual verbiage than she does. Here’s every Michelle Obama speech from now until November in three sentences: Everything in America is wrong. Only Barack can fix it. Vote and be healed. The rest of it, all the absurd “dystopian populist” excesses beyond that, as Geraghty puts it: Just words.

Exit question: How does Oprah manage on a billion dollars a year?

What a load of BS.

She is going to be the gift that keeps on giving.

You go girl!!

jukin on February 21, 2008 at 8:37 PM

But what about all of that HOPE that her husband is excreting? Doesn’t HOPE keep her warm at night and solve all of her problems?

If he can’t give his own wife a decent life how is he supposed to save all of us?

29Victor on February 21, 2008 at 8:39 PM

Huh. Well, I didn’t know I was supposed to be struggling because I’m a woman.

Will that, like, get me more stuff? Do I win a prize? Or am I just going to be excoriated because I don’t claim victimhood as a single, working woman with no kids?

C’mon, people. Pity me. Find a reason, okay?

Meryl Yourish on February 21, 2008 at 8:43 PM

I’m sorry, but I feel no sympathy or empathy for someone who is, frankly, blessed by what she has made of her life, which began with the benefit of being born in a country where no matter your stature at birth you have the opportunity to make something great of yourself, who still finds that in spite of all this, every day is filled with struggles.

In the last year I’ve had the pleasure to meet families with young children dealing with complex congenital heart disease, where the question of life and death is a daily discussion (and lived that life with my daughter, now passed). I hold these children and their parents, many of whom aren’t as fortunate as I, in my heart daily.

This is real struggle. What Michelle Obama describes as her struggle I do not know, but I doubt its’ significance in comparison.

I love the messiah thing. Let them be encouraged in this fantasy in every way.

Well said, and thanks for reminding us that Perpetual Victim Michelle Obama does not speak for all successful black women in the U.S.

AZCoyote on February 21, 2008 at 9:01 PM

Wow, I’m struggling to keep my head above water? I didn’t realize. Hmm, I guess the $45k a year job I have (w/out a college degree), my car that’s paid for, my home I have a great mortgage on, my paid off credit cards and the happiness I see in my extended family are not as wonderful as the government paid programs that Ms. Obama believes will be the salvation of us all. Who knew!

Wileygrl3 on February 21, 2008 at 9:01 PM

SHE AND OBAMA (AND OPRAH!) – LIKE EDWARDS – ARE THE VERY PERSONIFICATION OF EVERYTHING THEY DECLAIM; IN FACT, THEY PROVE THE UNTRUTH OF THEIR RANTS: EACH STARTED WITH NOTHING AND IS NOW RICH AND INDEPENDENT.

THEY PROVE THAT THE AMERICAN DREAM IS ALIVE AND WELL.

WHAT’S SO FREAKIN WEIRD IS THAT THEIR ACOLYTES DON’T SEE THAT.

ITS’ RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF THEM, BUT THEY’RE SO ENTHRALLED THYE DON’T SEE IT.

reliapundit on February 21, 2008 at 9:11 PM

I guess you see what you look for.

We’ll see what happens when the pressure is turned on–I hope she trips up. At this point though, her background makes for a more compelling story than Cindy McCain’s.

I’m guessing that McCain is looking at Hutchison for the VP slot.

dedalus on February 21, 2008 at 9:32 PM

My ex-wifey is a doc working 3 days a week and making over 100K. Plenty of time with her (and my) adorable 6 year old, happy as can be.

mikeyboss on February 21, 2008 at 9:33 PM

Michelle’s struggle to remain great while being forced to live on the same planet as us ordinary humans is such a daily challenge for her.

JayHaw Phrenzie on February 21, 2008 at 9:45 PM

Well, thank you Lady Messiah. I feel better now.

bloggless on February 21, 2008 at 9:49 PM

Perhaps she meant she could hardly keep her head above Perrier water.

Aren’t they both doing the Alinsky activist crap? They will open the wounds their constituents didn’t even know they had?

Can’t afford to say anything nice about the present if your trying to mobilize the foot soldiers.

Every woman I know is struggling to keep her head above water

And that is very big of you to never lend a helping hand or some money from your (not tax payers’) wallet. When is the last time you gave, not loaned, money to a friend or family member?

Until you do this, shut up! I already help support a sister with 2 kids and never complained to congress about it. And she refuses to go on welfare – God bless her determination and pride.

El Guapo on February 21, 2008 at 10:06 PM

Well, she probably meant every woman except herself and Oprah. And—statistics now show that educated black women make more, on average, than educated white women.

jeanie on February 21, 2008 at 10:15 PM

Are you sure it’s not the Bride of Frankenstein?

roux on February 21, 2008 at 10:17 PM

Dear Mrs. Messiah Obama,
I can barely keep my head above water. I realize no one’s life is perfect, but today I got a paper cut…Please tax the rich and save me.
Thanx.
P.S. Fuck you very much.

chewydog on February 21, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Why am I so satisfied with my life then? Am I insane?

PattyJ on February 21, 2008 at 10:35 PM

All OK…the gov’t will bail her out soon enough.

SHUT UP YOU IDIOT!!!!

Just keep on talking Michelle. You are certainly the gift that will keep on giving. Remember Mrs.Ketchup?

I sure as hell hope we don’t end up with this whining bitch as our first lady, of course our choices aren’t too great here.

Teresa Hines Obama

labrat on February 22, 2008 at 12:11 AM

Imagine, if you will, being the ObaMessiah just now: you’re on a roll; no one seems to be able to think while you pontificate, they just kind of drool like fools; you raise absurd amounts of money without even trying; the Presidency seems like it should be yours … except you have this idiot shrew of a wife, and she refuses to stfu, no matter what your campaign people tell her; she complains about her life — wherein she earns $400,000/year at a job she doesn’t show up for, and gets treated like a queen everywhere else, and is married to you, the Second Coming! — and yet she claims that it will take another miracle for her to get through today.

What will it be like to wake up to this witch after she helps him lose the election?

My mom is doing just fine, and in fact, our family is doing better since Bush came into office. Not that Bush really has anything to do with that, but if we’re playing the “the current president in office is responsible for everything that happens during his term” game, then that’s where the chips fall. My parents have gone from the cusp of the lower class to the higher ranks of the middle class in the span of about 20 years. Most of that progress has come the last 5-10 years.

I hardly doubt my parents are an exception to the rule.

Seixon on February 22, 2008 at 5:18 AM

This woman makes Teresa Hines look sane, and that’s no easy task.

Hening on February 22, 2008 at 7:14 AM

Maybe Michelle Obama is right. Every woman I ever knew has pitched a tale of woe of how her life was so hard, even the rich ones. You’re not being fair by judging victimhood by the old standards of reality. You need to judge them by the new standard of perception. Obviously, Mrs. Obama speaks directly to this new standard where, if you perceive yourself a victim, then you are and the government must bring all its resources to bear to allay that. These are all part of the valuable changes Obama will bring to America: Deep down we are all victims in some way, if only we know how.

Also, I heard from a guy who heard from a guy that when Obama sneezed in front of the crowd the other day, the kleenex he used turned into a dove and flew away. So, maybe Obama is god. Maybe other readers have seen similiar miracles performed by Obama.

Tantor on February 22, 2008 at 9:59 AM

Maybe if Mrs. O would learn to live within her means then she’d only have to work one job instead of the 2 or 3 jobs she currently works – she’d then have more time to devote to her family’s needs. On the plus side of that option it would free up a job or two for other people to have and then THEY’D be able to make ends meet instead of struggling to keep THEIR heads above water. As it is, SHE is the PROBLEM and her husband is obviously NOT the SOLLUTION.

Meryl Yourish on February 21, 2008 at 8:43 PM

You poor, poor woman.

You still haven’t figured out that it doesn’t matter if you go to an Ivy League school, make 6 figures at a job where you don’t have to do anything, and your husband hopes to be President change and hope that society will give you a pass no matter how whiny, acidic, and ungrateful you are.

Although it probably only helps you when you can play the race card. Jewish (if applicable) doesn’t count in this instance, Jews are only good for Democrats when they vote for them. Otherwise its the fanatical Islamonuts who get all the Democrat grease.

I know I’m late to the table on this one but I just got into my office (self employed) after my weekly golf game. My comment is:
You have got to be kidding me!! These people are on big pity party!
