Wow: Hillary already touting Matthews’s “name one accomplishment” clip from the stump

Yeah, that clip. It aired last night at 11, went viral two hours ago, and the Glacier’s rapid response team already has it front and center at the podium to maximize exposure. Mmmmm, that’s good war-rooming.

Exit question one: How come she’s never mentioned Sean Hannity’s repeated attacks on Obama in this same vein? Is the taint of Fox News so foul that she’d prefer to highlight the guy who attributed her political career to the fact that Billy Jeff diddled Monica? Exit question two: Does she really want to use Chris Matthews as an exemplar of tough anti-Obama scrutiny? This is a man who has physiological reactions to the Messiah’s speeches. Stand by for the inevitable highlight reel of Chrissy emoting over “hope” and “change” from Team Barry.

Matthews: “This is the Book of Revelation”

ninjapirate on February 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM

Hannity has been asking the same question for weeks now, of Obama supporters. They are left speechless.

roninacreage on February 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM

Does she really want to use Chris Matthews as an exemplar of tough anti-Obama scrutiny? This is a man who has physiological reactions to the Messiah’s speeches.

That’s kinda the point though, isn’t it?

Matthews likes Obama, but even he can see that his supporters can’t list any accomplishments.

What is that I smell in the air? Do I detect the scent of desperation?

pilamaye on February 20, 2008 at 11:01 AM

Sounds like her voice is gone.

Anyone notice if Bill’s eyebrows are scorched?

fogw on February 20, 2008 at 11:02 AM

There is a difference, this guy was a congressman whose endorsement matters. Hannity is just going against focus groups.

ninjapirate on February 20, 2008 at 11:02 AM

What happened to that “tingle” Matthews had down his leg over Obama?

JetBoy on February 20, 2008 at 11:04 AM

This is a double-edged sword for Clinton. Does she really want to continue beating the “accomplishment” drum at a time when Mr. Empty suit has trounced her in the last 10 primaries all over the country? Seems to me the message in that is that Clinton’s (faux) accomplishments are less important to primary voters than bumper sticker sloganeering.

ninjapirate on February 20, 2008 at 11:02 AM

True, but as far as sound bytes go, having a room full of 20 people saying they have no idea what Obama has done, twice, isn’t too bad.

Esthier on February 20, 2008 at 11:05 AM

Exit Question 3: What is the probability that Matthews asked this question at Hillary’s direction, so she could sight the point without aligning herself with Hannity and Fox News?

she’ll really be desperate if she or one of her surgotes play the “Larry Sinclair” card on him.

Ergo the good war rooming. They knew that clip would be available for them to reference this morning.

Hillary is a stupid bi*ch.

If I were Obama, I’d respond something like, “For starters, I believe Senator Clinton should be aware of my last ten accomplishments… they occurred right in a row.”

D2Boston on February 20, 2008 at 11:08 AM

I love this, pretty sure he’s joking
http://www.rollonfriday.com/forums/disc_topic.asp?topic_id=337040&forum_id=41&sort=&page=&Topic_Title=Doc%20Gonzo%20%2D%20is%20Barack%20Obama%20the%20Messiah%3F&forum_title=Discussion&M=False&S=True

Doc Gonzo – is Barack Obama the Messiah?

He’s caught me good and propa, m8.

His stump speeches have made me re-think my life. I was a go-getter idealist, then I went to the com bar, hated the work, told them to shove it, now I work for govt, cushy job, 9-5pm, and since Obamamania took over i’ve been wondering: should a legal whizz-kid like me be doing what I’m doing? Why don’t I go to some low-end public law set, do some pro bono, help people for feck-all money?

Not quite there, yet, and I’d still rather just do a DPhil and be a don- but Obama has caught me, I’m his bitch. Interestingly, his stump speech is really targeted at cynical people: like me, I guess tonnes of people who proudly declared it was “pointless” have fallen for the Obama tricks.

Aye, he’s the mehdi.

Doctor Gonzo’s favourite stump speeches:

- Iowa: the start of it. “There’s something happening”.

- New Hampshire: glorious defeat. An inspiring speech. “Yes We Can”.

- South Carolina: victory at last, but a combative, aggressive display by Obama after lots of negative campaigning.

And the best of them all:
- Post Super Tuesday, in Chicago. “I love you back.” sassy. But best of all- now is our time, here is our moment, because “We are the ones that we ‘ve been waiting for.

ninjapirate on February 20, 2008 at 11:09 AM

“For the First Time…” She credits Matthews with being the originator of this question, as though it’s original.

samuelrylander on February 20, 2008 at 11:09 AM

highhopes on February 20, 2008 at 11:04 AM

Exactly. And just how 8 years of being a 1st Lady & a 1.5 term Senator qualifies her to be President any more than Obama escapes me. “My husband did ____” is not personal experience.

Sigh. Too bad one of these two is probably going to win. Get ready for a LOOOONG 4 years.

Except accomplishing victories in an election doesn’t qualify you to be President. What has he done in previous elected offices? What does he have to his name except a good campaign and good oration skills?

Who called up Matthews and asked (cough)forced(cough) him to pull that stunt last night?

Someone did, I’m betting. He’s a weasel of the highest magnitude.

benrand on February 20, 2008 at 11:18 AM

How much you want to bet Olbermann personally passed the clip along?

JammieWearingFool on February 20, 2008 at 11:18 AM

amerpundit on February 20, 2008 at 11:15 AM

You missed my “nuance.” LOL His recommended quote reads “For starters.” Obviously the victories aren’t policy accomplishments in and of themselevs — that’s for him to dig up — I merely suggested a nice applause line for him with which to begin the retort.

I agree the guy is a supreme lightweight, but I am enjoying watching Hillary get trampled.

D2Boston on February 20, 2008 at 11:20 AM

I believe Sean Hannity started posing this question to Obama supporters several weeks ago. He has continued doing it on his shows and I have heard other radio pundits pick it up. What I have yet to hear is an answer.

Blake on February 20, 2008 at 11:22 AM

Compare their records? What records, neither of them has accomplished anything of any importance. And Commander-in-Chief . . . get real, that pathetic woman couldn’t command a Girl Scout troop. I sense total desperation and her best bet would be to do a little more crying . . . let’s face it, it can’t hurt.

rplat on February 20, 2008 at 11:26 AM

Is Karl Rove advising Hillary? Anyone notice the Rove political language Hillary is now using?

“My opponent says…”
“My opponent wants…”
“My opponent doesn’t…”

This is exactly the same way Rove coached Bush to speak during campaign season. Never ever mention your opponent by name. Always refer to them as “my opponent”.

gabriel sutherland on February 20, 2008 at 11:31 AM

Matthews is a tool. He couldn’t have asked those questions any more awkwardly. “TONIGHT!!!” He insisted. Hillary needs this clip asap. lol

Watson is only a Texas state senator. Prior to that he was mayor of Austin for a while, which should erase any questions as to his ultra-liberal bona fides.

JayHaw Phrenzie on February 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM

I’ll give her a little benefit of the doubt — she has had to live in the Chuck “Arrive 10 seconds sooner” Schumer circle of Hell.

Dusty on February 20, 2008 at 11:57 AM

Whoa. Whoa. Wait.

I spaced off for a minute there while listening and then right at the end she said something about Commander-in-Chief.

Did she actually say she should have anything at all to do with the military, let alone become my CiC? I just can’t listen again. I’ll probably have a stroke.

thomashton on February 20, 2008 at 12:00 PM

I wouldn’t be surprised if Chrissy has been warned by the MSNBC top brass to tone down his pro Obama bias.

infidel65 on February 20, 2008 at 12:25 PM

Is it just me, but why is she always saying that she is ready to be

the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Military.

I’ve noticed that she has said this numerous times. Why not the ‘leader of the free world’ or ‘the president of these United States’ or some other platitude? Why does she want her hands on the military? Why is this so important to her?

cjs1943 on February 20, 2008 at 12:43 PM

hillary is ready to be the commander and chief of the US military? Anyone tell the military that?

peacenprosperity on February 20, 2008 at 12:52 PM

Hillary sole “accomplishments” are a vast increase in government regulations. What she see as “accomplishment” is actually adding on scores of regulations that let local bureaucrats from the state labor department to show up at your local diner and demand that the diner owner immediately open up all her payroll records from ten years ago to discern whether a summer teenage employee ever worked any overtime. Other “accomplishments” of Hillary are things like forcing businesses to add dozens of handicapped bathrooms and access ramps at prohibitive costs. Hillary wnts government employees at the federal state and local level (none of whom ever toil in the public sector) to have complete control over everybody’s life. In my neighbord today, a busybody local member of the “historic district commission” is forcibly on a guy’s property (and the owner is hard working Cape Verdean immigrant who busts his butt at masonry every day) and demanding that the guy remove some beautiful blue stone that he put in his driveway. This is what Hillary and Barack want for America.

Larraby on February 20, 2008 at 12:57 PM

oops meant to say never toiled in the private sector!

Larraby on February 20, 2008 at 12:58 PM

FFATA is a bigger accomplishment than anything Hillary’s ever done in the Senate.

JayHaw Phrenzie on February 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM

It’s still funny. Stephanie Tubbs Jones is a leftist idiot, but the look on her face while Watson peed himself was priceless.

Sadly, Hillary reminds us at the end of the tape how much is at stake, with her “the American people need a President who is ready at day 1 to be Commander in Chief of the U.S. military”! OMG.
