All they did was take Ice’s advice. They collaborated and listened.

ICE ICE BABY!

pilamaye on February 20, 2008 at 5:49 PM

It was BS then and it’s BS now. But then who really cares?

tickleddragon on February 20, 2008 at 5:50 PM

Obama-nation!

sleepy-beans on February 20, 2008 at 5:51 PM

Awesome. Simply awesome.

Vincenzo on February 20, 2008 at 5:53 PM

A lot of people are dismissing this plagiarism thing as trivial. It’s not. Obama has even stolen Silky’s material.
Obama has been rightly accused of being all talk, and it’s not even his own talk. Take away the pretty speeches, what’s left?
If I was Hillary, I would continue to hammer Obama over this. She’s got nothing to lose.

infidel65 on February 20, 2008 at 5:57 PM

I think we’re on the cusp of uncovering some real inner truths about Obama here. Let us start peeling back the layers of the Vanila Ice-Barak Obama connection.

“Ice Ice Baby” appears to actually be a song foretelling the coming of Obama the Messiah.

All right stop, Collaborate and listen
[Obama] is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Then I flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop? Yo – I don’t know
Turn off the lights and I’ll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle.
***
Take heed, ’cause I’m a lyrical poet
[Chicago]’s on the scene just in case you didn’t know it
My town, that created all the bass sound
Enough to shake and kick holes in the ground
‘Cause my style’s like a chemical spill
Feasible rhymes that you can vision and feel
Conducted and formed, This is a hell of a concept
We make it hype and you want to step with this
***
Yo man – Let’s get out of here! Word to your mother!

I saw the headline and thought Joe Biden would be in the accompanying pic. Ah well, just as good.

Laughed my ass off at Vanilla Ice’s own laughing his ass off. Man he knows he’s guilty

It fun to get all worked up, but David Axlerod wrote these phrases. Like Patrick, Obama paid for these words. He didn’t steal anything.

There are plenty of real reasons to attack Obama:

1. Crazy Foreign Policy Ideas.
2. Insane Domestic Policy Ideas.
3. Moonbat Wife.
4. Weird Name.

More Fun With Ice. Enjoy!

Dorvillian on February 20, 2008 at 6:08 PM

4. Weird Name.

Really dude? Anyone without a WASPy name is no good in your eyes? Take off the hood buddy, there are plenty of things wrong with Obama without sinking to that disgusting level.

FLcapitalistthug on February 20, 2008 at 6:11 PM

Hmmm, are Obama speeches written for him?
Does he not have a single original idea?
Is there a secret ear plug he wears receiving some prepared message?
Does Kucinich believe in UFO’s?

Kini on February 20, 2008 at 6:14 PM

People didn’t seem to have a problem with it when they were making fun of Huckabee.

EnochCain on February 20, 2008 at 6:43 PM

That was awesome…and nobody outside this, and a few other conservative blogs will get it.

AUINSC on February 20, 2008 at 6:51 PM

Knocking libs and getting to relive middle school at the same time…priceless!

Awesome! It’s like, which is worse, the early nineties or the eighties? (I say the early 90s.)

That tall hair dude is from the movie “Artificial Intelligence”
He’s been programed to give candidates pleasure.

Dorvillian on February 20, 2008 at 6:08 PM

Dorvillian, you’ve nailed it. This issue is about Axlerod’s laziness. It’s not plagiarism.

Of much more concern is Michelle’s disdain for the USA. To say, as she has, that our country has gotten worse during her lifetime is ludicrous. Less than fifty years ago freedom riders were being killed in the South. Now, an Afro-American could become President. Her opinion denies reality in just the same way as do those about the Iraq War being lost. Unfortunately, however, among leftist elites, such beliefs are common.

And, frankly, I’m deeply concerned about having our destiny in the hands of inexperienced, self-loathing ideologues.

The Reality of DemoCraps is Soooooooooo Delicioso.

Spanning the globe to bring us the foremost world renowned experts.

Captain America on February 20, 2008 at 11:24 PM

Wouldn’t it be nice if, say, 18 years hence Barck Obama was as much a part of the contemporary American consciousness as the former Rob Van Winkle is to us today?

Captain Scarlet on February 21, 2008 at 4:39 AM

Forgive me for going off topic here, but damn, the early and unlitigated days of sampling resulted in some great records (Mssrs. Ice and Hammer excluded). I’m thinking of the Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique in particular.

And like Dorvillian said, he bought and paid for these lines, so he’s free to use them, no matter how trite. I’d prefer a candidate who could write his own material, but that’s just me.

saint kansas on February 21, 2008 at 5:21 AM

P.S. More Ice news… I remember hearing a nu-metal version of “Ice Ice Baby” on the radio and the DJ saying it was Korn. I had to email him and tell him it was actually Vanilla Ice covering his own song, trying to go legit in his Spinal Tap Mark II metal phase.

saint kansas on February 21, 2008 at 5:27 AM

First line: “I’m not asking you to take a chance on me…”
