Well put. A lot of people think that sitting at home pouting with their arms crossed because they can’t get the candidate that they want makes them tough. Just gotta play the hand you’re delt.

BTW, what ARE we going to do when McCain’s position on waterboarding creates an intelligence failure and innocent American casualties? Remind ourselves it would be worse if it were Obama? That should fix it right up.

It won’t fix anything, but given what we have to choose from, that would be the most rational alternative. I’ve lived my entire life without once being presented with what I’d consider an ideal political candidate. I take what I can get, and do my best to avoid that which will cause the most damage.

Sometimes they fail because they screw up…sometimes they fail because voters aren’t smart enough to support the right guy.

What happened to the party of personal responsibility? Why are so many conservatives putting the blame on someone else other than those who failed to win the nomination?

He failed mostly because evangelicals flocked to a clown with no conservative credentials and no serious program. Whether they did this because of anti-Mormonism or because they wanted a fellow evangelical as the nominee doesn’t matter: they did it, they split the vote, and McCain is the nominee.

So by all means, Esthier, let’s be grownup and responsible. Don’t like McCain? Voted for Huckabee? You’ve got no one to blame but yourself. Enjoy the harvest.

I’m late I know. My excuse is that Tuesday is the new Monday among the trendy hepcat set. The other alternative – pretending I consider Presidents’ Day a serious holiday – is to vile to consider.

Anyway, to catch us up a bit, I’ll do one ……

Either way, we have the evangelicals to thank for the mess we’re in.

Fred tried (or didn’t try) and failed.

You can tell your children one day that because he only met 9 of 10 requirements to be a “true conservative” that you took your ball, stayed home, and became a whiny quitter.

If McCain even fit 6 out of 10 he’d get my vote. Either way, I’m not staying home. I’ll likely not vote for him, but that doesn’t mean I won’t vote.

This is a sham of a process and it’s biased in such a way that we’ll struggle to ever get a real Tancredo/Hunter-type conservative elected.

You make a good point that few seem to be talking about here. Why is it that a state as red as Texas has no bearing anymore on who we elect as our nominee? How did did it happen that independents were allowed to decide this for us?

Excellent job of pushing the base towards voting for a 3rd party candidate.

The movement has been dying slowly. The election v. gore should have been a signal. Moderation is here to stay. No going back to the days of covered wagons and churned butter.

We would have won it 4 years ago if Jorge Bush hadn’t screwed things up so badly. He was too busy trying to pass amnesty.

I sincerely suggest to you all that it is time now to put to the side the GOP primary race. Conservatives should be focusing instead on beating the Democrats

So, who are you to tell ME what to do? I will vote for McCain when he:

1. Fires and distances himself from Juan Hernandez

2. States that he is against the Mirida Initiative,

3. Will not support the current “back-door” new amnesty plan in Congress

4. Says that he will pardon Ramos and Campeon.

5. Puts a REAL conservative on the ticket.

Until then, I will NOT vote for him… and YOU cannot make me.

That means that my truth is starting to widdle away at your insecurity.

Widdling away, a truly effective tactic.

The MSM was determined to nuke Fred and Mitt, and they saw Huckster as the perfect dupe to carry their water for McCain (and against Mitt) once Fred was out. There was never any substance to the Giuliani candidacy whatsoever.

The ignorance of the average American voter is breathtaking.

I believe if you want to take the trouble to track quotes back, the issue wasn’t about making a choice between McCain and the Dem nominee, but rather the comment that McCain’s position on open borders should be taken with a grain of salt(ignored) because he is somehow responsible for victory in Iraq. I’m not about to go into an Obama swoon over McCain because he is the lesser of two evils, and if one of his groupies won’t quit spamming about him, he’s gonna get called on it. As much as Mav wants to unite the base, his love for his country trumps that. He knows Romelee doesn’t have that presidential fiber. He knows he’s no spring chicken and that the vp HAS to be ready to assume the role if needed. I may be wrong about Lindsey Graham, but it will definately not be a phony like Romney. Jim Demint after the Berkely/Marines fiasco aint lookin to bad.

I like Lindsey Graham, unfortunately the same reason yall hate El Mavo will apply to Graham.
