Sigh, it’s called dark sarcasm Rose, exactly what the supposed AI audition was. How else do you respond to such an obvious sarcastic parody? Pointing out that it was a parody is well kind of like pointing out that the sun is bright or that water is wet.

I spend a good 25 plus years of my life in and out of recording studio’s, a fact I believe the majority of the HotAir regulars are well aware of. I couldn’t help but notice that the AI audition was the isolated vocal tract from the VH album with a audio tract from AI edited in, and I might add not even edited in very well. Listen to the AI audition again and notice the change in volume each time between switches from Dave to the AI panel.

As to the fact that I posted a sarcastic and highly critical response regarding AI, well I seriously doubt anyone here familiar with me or my posting style was surprised or confused by what I wrote.

Maybe, but how many of us between the ages of 36-45 didn’t have a copy of “1984″?

I was a huge fan, but never I never listened to them once after they ousted Dave.

He’s still great.

Although most of his solo efforts were horrible, his book made him seem like a jerk, everyone who knows him says he’s a jerk, and his radio show was not funny at all.

For those of you with limited performance and recording experience: this is what most of your favorite singers sound like when you isolate their vocal track. Particularly those that rely heavily on backing vocalists.
Still, it’s an entertaining edit.

Whistles quietly to self in corner…(something about recording studios and time spent therein) Most vocalists isolated tracks don’t even sound that good. Anyone who didn’t notice that Dave’s AI audition was the isolated vocal track with comments from AI mixed in, well I don’t know what to say to you.

He’s aged 53 but I love the 64 tag… LOL!

If getting impressions isn’t your day job, don’t quit your day job. If it is your day job, whoa, somebody ought to be suing your for falsely representing your abilities.

Which obviously don’t extend to the arena of drive-time talk radio.

As a frontman Dave can spinning-heel kick Sammy back to Montrose, swaggering and doing mid-air splits in between blows.

When Jeff Spicolli saved Brooke Shields from drowning, he didn’t blow the reward money hiring Sammy Hagar to play his birthday, he blew the reward money hiring Van Halen circa Diver Down to play his birthday!

In the old days, luck played as much a part in who got signed as did who you knew or if you just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Today it is no longer about luck or who you know, or even being in the right place at the right time, but totally 100 percent about how many copies the marketing guru’s project the image they create around you is capable of selling.

American Idol is nothing less than a market sampling gimmick disguised as a popularity contest pretending to be a talent show. American Idol isn’t about talent and nobody knows this better than Simon Cowl, it’s about finding which images will sell CD’s. David Lee Roth cant sell a million of anything anymore, hence Simon’s abusive comments.

David Lee Roth has skills and talent, the fact that he can still sell out arena’s is proof of that. It took him years to develop those skills and hone what little talent he had into anything at all, but no honest ration person can claim he does have either. However the marketability of his image to the tune of a million CD sales is long gone hence Simon has no use for him what so ever, and it shows in his comments.
