Mughniya & the Mahdi Army

Adding to the good news that’s followed the abrupt end of one of the world’s most notorious murderers, MEMRI Blog has turned up one more benefit of the end of Imad Mugniya: He had worked with the bad guys who have fought against our troops in Iraq.

The Sadrist Shi’ites in Iraq, led by Muqtada Al-Sadr, have declared a three-day mourning period for Imad Mughniya.

An Iraqi security source said that Mughniya had entered Iraq via Iran, and had trained some 500 members of the Mahdi Army, which belongs to the Sadrists.

He added that he had also trained a number of squads in planning and carrying out assassinations within Iraq.

This might explain why elements of the Mahdi Army turned out to be more combat effective than your average spray-and-pray jihadist rabble. Good riddance.

Sounds like a good case for a lawsuit against Mitsubishi. Defective headrest results in personal injury. I wonder if Silky will take the case.

Next up: Hassan Nasrallah…please?

Next up: Hassan Nasrallah…please?

Yes, quickly. Then the thugs in Tehran. It’s time to take care of the root of the evil.

Next up: Hassan Nasrallah…please?

Yes, quickly. Then the thugs in Tehran. It’s time to take care of the root of the evil.

How does that take care of the root of the evil? Hassan Nasrallah was the replacement for Hussein Massawi and can be replaced in turn himself.

aengus on February 17, 2008 at 2:04 PM

The mother of one of our brave Marines in Lebanon said she hoped he could hear the ticking. According to Times On Line he was done in with a headrest bomb. Me thinks the lady may have got her wish. Bless you madam.

Sadr is on his way to becoming an ayatollah and a “source of emulation”, meaning he’ll have his own following who look to him for religious instruction. I suspect that’s when he’ll use his added prestige to make things difficult again. Personally, I hope he becomes a “source of capitulation” but if not, I hope he orders that head-rest option on his next car.

NNtrancer on February 17, 2008 at 2:28 PM

I think god, if there is one, will allow the parents of those Marines to mete out his soul’s eternity.

SouthernGent on February 17, 2008 at 2:38 PM

He is merely one of thousands of Jihadi bombmakers. His death is terrific for those who lost loved ones due to his craft, however his death will probably only increase the amount of blood spilled in this epic struggle. Good riddance with perspective.

THE CHOSEN ONE on February 17, 2008 at 2:50 PM

Currently Nasrallah is believed in a fortified bunker complex beneath the Iranian embassy in Beirut..
Since the war he’s only thought to have come out once into the daylight – So for now unfortunately hitting him is not going to be easy without..
A) International outrage
B) The chance of sparking WWIII

but he’ll get his. Worse, the blame for any revenge attacks now will fall squarely on his head compounding his dead man woes imho.

Have no idea what you are saying here.

It’s time to take care of the root of the evil.
The root of all evil runs very deep and is nourished by a socio-political entity known as Islam. Until we in the west and the so called moderate Muslims recognize that fascists are using Islam as a vehicle (in name only)to pursue an agenda that facilities nothing more than a totalitarian state, the sooner this evil can be confronted for what it is and destroyed. Tolerance via political correctness will only serve those who’s stated goals is our destruction!

It’s not a defining moment of victory and nobody is suggesting or acting like it is. Nor do I suspect Limerick has any intention or desire to argue with a brick you just for the sake of arguing. Your posts however do seem to reek of liberal minimization antiseptic. Leaving this monster alive would have resulted in more deaths than his dying ever will. Only liberal suffering from the mental illness of liberalism buy into the retarded meme that killing terrorists just creates more terrorists.

Flaming insane liberal you obviously are. Yup, just leave the homicidal murderer to do his work eh…Understand this…anyone who might retaliate, would have found a reason to kill anyway. Get it? You do not surrender to homicidal murdering fanatics because they might kill someone, their going to kill someone regardless, thats what homicidal murderers do. Islamic terrorists are made long before any event that might trigger them occurs. It’s their religion stupid…

Why? It’s one more really really bad dude who is no longer killing anyone. That all by itself is justification for much celebrating. Maybe you just cant wrap your head, let alone your heart around the notion that a vicious cold blooded murder is no longer killing innocent people.

At one time, Al Sadr had a murder warrant against him for a knifing death of one of his competitors in the race for the top spot in the religion business. This was about the time the war started, and our keen minded analysts decided the warrant should be voided because it might cause sectarian rifts, and we know how that turned out. I believe Bremer, thus Rumsfeld, was involved in that gem. Anyone else recall that masterpiece

As I recall, General Sanchez actually came out and said that al-Sadr needed either to be killed or captured, but… I guess Abu-Ghraib happened, Sanchez got transferred, and we went into approximately three years of dithering in Iraq where the main focus apparently became court-martialing soldiers and Marines who put their training into action.
