We’re weary of your eternal harping on the 20% that you hate about McCain. Why not be grateful for & focus on the 80% that you like, & after he wins in Nov., hold his feet to the fire then?

Of course Obama can get into a lot of socialist specifics at his rallies–only the Kossacks are devoted enough to show up there. But his TV spots are pleasantries & platitudes.

Bryan, this criticism of Barack Obama being an “empty vessel” is total BS. I’ve listened to many of Barack’s speeches (maybe 25 to 30 in the past month) and he talks specifics in each one, to the degree you can in a campaign rally speech. In his Townhall style events he goes into the kind of details you would expect from a lawyer who graduated from Harvard.

You, like many others criticizing Obama for not really saying anything, must believe that if your lies about him are repeated enough times then it will become fact.

It is you who is the empty suit in this constant false criticism of Barack.

Personally, I don’t agree with Barack on most issues, but I do like him and his wife Michelle, AND he has run a first rate honest campaign.

BTW, I just watched his rally on-line LIVE from Eau Claire, Wisconsin and he was outstanding.

I’m toying with falling in love with Obama…but obviously, the rightie nutjobs on Hot Air will never give him credit for the specifics he brings up in his speeches. Would you mind listing those specifics, so those of us on the fence can point them out to the skeptics in the future? Thanks in advance,

I think Obama could crater in the general election. Obama has skated through the primary with only limited criticism — and most of that he was able to counteract because Bill Clinton so transparently played the race card in South Carolina. But at some point, couldn’t McCain have a “where’s the beef?” moment with Obama, perhaps in a debate? I strongly disagree with McCain on several positions (e.g. immigration, opposing the Bush tax cuts, McCain-Feingold) but McCain is credibly a leader on Capitol Hill and has fairly well staked-out positions. Obama spent his life b-s’ing: he was the editor of the Harvard Law Reviwe but yet published no paper, he voted “present” in the Illinois legislature on almost every controversial issue, and has no real accomplishments to his name in the U.S. Senate. I have to think a lot of people in the general will be scared of Obama.

You are in for a rude awakening. If it’s John McCain and Barack Obama in the general election the result will be a landslide in favor Obama that will make the ’96 election between Bob Dole and Bill Clinton look like a cliffhanger.

Of course, it’s equally likely that McCain will come off as a tired, grumpy old man and will not be able to rally the conservative base of the GOP, in which case Obama will skate through to victory. Hold on to your wallets!

I can hear the exhaustion in Hill’s voice. She and/or her handlers are trying to turn her exhaustion to their advantage and make her sound gentler, more tender, compassionate, almost motherly. Problem is, it doesn’t fully pull me in to thinking that. Instead, I see the gambit for what it is but see through it. She’s just tired, but trying to sound caring instead. It was a smart decision to TRY to do that, but frankly, they should have let her take a nap for an hour or two, wake up a bit after come coffee and a short walk, and then have her try it again. Maybe they thought they didn’t have time for all that, but it would have possibly achieved their desired result. Instead, I think they just missed. Once again, Hill wiffs at the ball and misses.

I also 100% agree with you about Barack about that “empty vessel” point…I think you’re dead on, that this is actually a well-calculated strategy Obama and Plouffe cooked up, to make people sizzle with hope about a more positive future and better unity across party lines, and let their emotion surge toward that empty vessel. Not filling in too much specific was probably 100% intentional…to let people project their own expectations onto that object of hope, and thus take the nomination riding on a tsunami of hopeful thinking…I mean, hopeful FEELING. After all, these are democrats we’re talking about. They’re into FEELING. We’re into THINKING.

Interestingly, despite Obama never getting too darned specific about his future plans, working in downtown DC next to the White House, I often buy both the Washington Times (danged rag owned by Reverend Moon, yet still the only conservative rag in town) AND the Post (gawd I HATE that liberal rag’s slant)…simply because I want to understand what both sides are saying. In yesterday’s Post, there was an interesting article…with a comparison table next to it…comparing the details of Hitlery’s and BO’s economic plans and how they differed. It was the greatest level of detail I’ve ever seen on Barry’s plans (or Her Majesty’s, for that matter) EVER…and even then, it wasn’t THAT detailed. It was still interesting to get a better, more concrete read on their positions.

Which doesn’t mean I agree with them at all. They’re still libs, and I’m still a conservative. All I’m saying is, it was interesting to actually see a few facts I could let my mind chew on for a bit.

Do you think the left would have a problem with Hillary having a prominent staff member who was well known leading the movement against abortion?

The problem is this is very easy to understand, but opposite of his stated intent if he continues to be unapologetic about it, much less at least quietly disassociating himself from him. None of this has happened and certainly inconsistent with his positions at best.

Excellent points and I totally agree.

It feels like I’m living in a parallel universe, and yet I know that all of his knucklehead supporters will see things my way when they grow up. The Clenis’s supporters came around; he’s one click away from being hated, and he’s already being ignored.

You all were wrong last time, and you’re wrong this time, and frankly I find it boring waiting around for you to wake up. It’s a curse, this being right all the time thing.

Yet, he continues to receive input from a dual citizenship, open borders advocate whose salary is paid by Soros, as part of his campaign team. Help me out with this, would you?

Look, a capella makes a valid point to anyone willing to look at the facts. Michelle has made it numerous times regarding people on McCain’s staff, and you can’t dismiss her on the basis of mindset. I think all of us who are conservatives, would feel more comfortable with McCain’s bonafides if his now ‘conservative’ positions matched staffing that virulently oppose it.
