Well, I’m not too concerned about the Mayor of Obama, because I think of him more as a Mayor of a Podunk Japanese town. And who can blame them. I’m guessing the tourist throughput in Obama, Japan could increase 1000% per year, which might amount to 10 people of he is elected. Plus, the Japanese have a uniquely Japanese way of celebrating all of this:

Wonder what happens if he’s elected, goes for a visit, and runs right smack into that dude?

My understanding — from another news story — is that “Obama” means “beach” in Japanese.

Barack doesn’t have a beach, but all his substance is beached on the shores of Mirage Bay.

Japanese only make up 16.7% of Hawai’i’s population.
Besides, Obama would never fit in Japanese politics. He’s gaikokujin.

I don’t care if he’s gaikokujin or godzilla, we’re still better with him there. As for Hawaii, last time I was there, which was admittedly long ago, I could have sworn I’d landed in Japan.

Dresden, Hiroshima and Nagasaki were all justified during WWII. But nuking a city in today’s Japan just because its peeps are rooting for an US candidate for probably no other reason than he happens to share their name is uncalled for. The Japanese people here aren’t thinking about security – how many Jihadi attacks have happened against Japan? – they’re just going with the symbolism. It’s not pc to suggest that of all the people in the world that deserve to be nuked, they don’t happen to be among them.

Well, first of all, it was not a genocidal comment. Just like fire-bombing Dresden is not a genocidal comment. If you want political correctness from me, you’re lookin’ in the wrong place. Secondly, and most importantly, if these Japanese citizens think Obama is good for their security, they deserve that comment.

Such a genocidal comment is uncalled for. The people of this town are likely rooting for him just because of the coincidence between their town name and his, rather than because they are socialists or Islam panderers. How many Japanese fit that description?

Anyway, a common name is reason enough to drive people to the polls. Identity politics 4evah!
