Good grief.

He’s pro-abortion, for gay marriage but THEY are fake Christians?

Skywise on February 15, 2008 at 10:06 PM

Wow! Slurred speech, bad grammar, nonsensical judgementalism of millions of Christians–”they’re all fake”.
It’s OK for him to judge–he’s on a pedestal.

The Round Mound of Rebound Flounders.

Blitzer is like, why the HELL am I talking to this illiterate, incoherent blather-mouth?

That was so bad, I’m having trouble figuring out where to start.

Wow. I guess.

Excellent example of non-judgment there, Chuck.

Nice one.

I’m sincere.

THEY are judgmental!! Arrghh!!

No…it’s a good thing….think how many more tax dollars will go into your health care from his pockets. He could fund your next gastic bypass, or ‘lifestyle’ change.

“They can’t do anything to me. I don’t work for them.”

Good stuff. But skywise is right. I bet he eats shellfish too.

Hiney Von Pewps on February 15, 2008 at 10:11 PM

I guess he “should read the part about where they’re not supposed to judge other people” himself.

rsb1 on February 15, 2008 at 10:11 PM

Christs admonition that we should ‘judge not that ye not be judged’ was in reference to punishment, NOT about speaking out about right and wrong.

Maybe Charles got hit in the head too many times on the court, but I am quite sure Christ would tell people to murder their unborn children if its not a convenient time to be pregnant.

DavidM on February 15, 2008 at 10:13 PM

am quite sure Christ would NOT tell people to murder their unborn children if its not a convenient time to be pregnant.

Sorry

Milk Dud-Head milks a dud–”They’re all fake!”

jgapinoy on February 15, 2008 at 10:15 PM

Nice of him to give seven years warning of his intentions…

rsb1 on February 15, 2008 at 10:16 PM

He had some support in Birmingham years ago, not so much the rest of the state… you know, where the Christians live.

Zorro on February 15, 2008 at 10:16 PM

Besides being a racist that married a white woman, add religious bigot.
Truly a credit to all democrats.

As he once said, “I’m no roll model”

Kini on February 15, 2008 at 10:18 PM

Barkley used to be a conservative. I wonder what happened.

Hiney Von Pewps on February 15, 2008 at 10:18 PM

After Chaz insults half the country, Wolf doesn’t bat an eye let alone comment.

Imagine: “When ever I hear liberal, I think of fake Joooooos….” and Wolf then comments about the weather or whatever. Amazing.

I agreed with him as far as the interview went. I want to know his stance on illegal immigration and the war with Islam before I give him to the Democrats. I will admit that I’m not expecting reasonable policies about economics from him, but who knows?

Is he a “racist” because he married a white woman? He’s a “self-hating oreo” is what you’re saying?

Hiney Von Pewps on February 15, 2008 at 10:20 PM

Why is he wearing that mouth guard? Is he afraid Blitzer is going to elbow him?

jgapinoy on February 15, 2008 at 10:20 PM

Barkley used to be a conservative. I wonder what happened. Hiney Von Pewps on February 15, 2008 at 10:18 PM

His caddy is a talkshow host in Philly named Howard Eskine. He’s a DailyKook devote who has apparently washed Chaz’s brain in a thimble and given it back to him a faded pink.

Akzed on February 15, 2008 at 10:20 PM

He used to be conservative

He used to be eloquent, too.

jgapinoy on February 15, 2008 at 10:22 PM

Blitzer was afraid the reference to fake Christians wasn’t noticed so he asked for a clarification of a statement that was completely clear. You’d think he’d lose his job if he didn’t stick it to Christians and America. . . Oh, he works for CNN, so, yes, he would lose his job for patrioism or fairness.

snaggletoothie on February 15, 2008 at 10:22 PM

“Is he a “racist” because he married a white woman? He’s a “self-hating oreo” is what you’re saying? Hiney Von Pewps on February 15, 2008 at 10:20 PM

Yeah, he has a white wife, and yeah, he’s a racist.

When he was on the Sixers he was being interviewed by his caddy, Howard Eskine, about recent remarks he had made concerning the fact that there was a white guy on the team. He found this unbearable because the white guy was only on the team because the league is racist, and can’t bear having an all black team — I kid you not — and this came from a guy who did not have an all black family.

say,fake christians,isn’t that special!

I heard Charles was makeing a run for governor a while
back, and he mentioned he didn’t need help from Al,or Jesse
and now this statement,hum!

I really believe at this point in the election cycle, this isn’t a plant statement or a planned comment to bring in
a controversy to take the spotlight of Hillarys nominee
on going disaster,I could be wrong. But I think Charles
said some pretty inflammatory remarks, and I hope this doesn’t get any traction, now will the left use it.Yes
they will,if the right doesn’t react to it,but I hope
they don’t,remember the election!

snaggletoothie on February 15, 2008 at 10:22 PM

I’m really not predisposed to defend Blitzer, but I think you’re mischaracterizing him. He returned to the issue three times, askking for him to clarify and finally asking if he was comfortable with the statement. Then he pleads Christian conservatives’ case for them:

“But you can’t lumpp all of these conservatives together. Obviousluy many of them are vgery sincere….”

putting out the full anecdote like that, to me, is better than just saying he’s a “racist” who “has a white wife”. some people like deliberately misinterpret what Republicans say and other things just sound fishy altogether.

Knowing the full anecdote, I can see where you’re coming from.

Hiney Von Pewps on February 15, 2008 at 10:41 PM

However, I should add that, taken disppassionately, that’s not such a nutty statement. He was complaining about affirmative action for whites in the NBA, essentially.

I hate when people I like say stupid stuff. Anyways, Barkley needs to read Matthew 7:3. It’s pretty hypocritical for him to complain about conservatives judging others when he is doing the same exact thing and making broad-sweeping generalizations about a whole group of people.

keepinitreal on February 15, 2008 at 10:49 PM

If he runs for the Dems in 2014, looks like the GOP (if they are still around) will win Alabama at least. Way to insult the Bible Belt Chaz. That’ll get ‘em to vote for you.

Egads, and to think I wasted 2 years of my life following pro-ball because of him. Sheesh. Can I have them back now?

So all conservatives are “fake Christians”, Barkley? Reagan was a “fake Christian”? Huh, Berkley? And are you aware there are conservatives other than social conservatives? Like fiscal and defense? You want to speak about being pro-choice and pro-gay marriage, but want to criticize other people’s level of Christianity?

Cold Steel on February 15, 2008 at 11:12 PM

I see where you’re confused on this. I had many problems wih this as well until frustrated democratics corrected me on it.

You see, democratics take offense at being called simply “Demoocrat”. as in “Democrat party”. I’m unclear on why this is, but they throw shreiking, pants-pissing fits if you inadvertantly treat the proper noun which signifies their party affiliation as if it were a proper noun.

Rather, the correct form is to treat it as an adjective: “democratic party”.

This is an odd quirk democratics insist on, and rest assured, it is their quirk. No where else are proper nouns treated this way. Imagine yourself saying you’re going to go buy a “Chryslerical” car, or enjoy a refreshing boowl of “Breyersish” ice cream.

You’ll note that the capitalization is dropped for demoocratic as it is for all adjectives, except in cases where it begins a sentence, as in “Democratic chicks all have herpes.”

Corespondingly, the plural form is “democratics”. “Democratics only ever lie about anything.”

Following the form, you may confer extra regard on the demoocratic party by use of alternate suffixes (e.g.: democraticalist, democraticalistical, democratish, etc.).

d1carter on February 15, 2008 at 11:44 PM

Barkley is a fake Hall of Famer. You should NOT be allowed in the Hall of Fame without a championship ring. This guy is probably the most overrated player in the history of the NBA.

He was always too short to play the position he tried to play. He always tried to get next to greatness (Jordan) in the hopes that it would rub off on him. In the Hollywood sports world, he succeeded. But everyone really regards him as a big mouthed hack.

He says Christians shouldn’t be for strong families and should be for killing babies. He has never said or done anything significant in America.

ThackerAgency on February 15, 2008 at 11:44 PM

What he is saying is that there are some things we shouldn’t use the force of the state to enforce. Some should be left to God. But that just is how Chuck is. He is also the guy who says that the problem with poor whites, blacks, and hispanics is that they are having babies they can’t afford. He’s a double edged sword.

He is right on the marriage issue, but the state shouldn’t be involved in marriage one bit. It should not be giving tax credits to married couples, it should give it to every American. Your not promoting marriage, you are punishing single people and you are engaging in social engineering which is something the state should never do. It should punish those who harm others and provide for national defense at the federal level. Then we all would get a most generous tax break.

But on the abortion issue I disagree. Not on some religious basis, but just on reality. If not terminated, if left alone, it would become a life, therefore it must be a single life. To grow into a infant it must be living.

LevStrauss on February 15, 2008 at 11:46 PM

Gosh, he sounds an awful lot like Bill Maher.

And that’s not a compliment Sir Charles.

Chakra Hammer on February 16, 2008 at 12:40 AM

Dude, Michael Jordan was successful when he played so you can’t fault the ‘roughness’ of the league for his lack of success. He chased the ring from Philly to Phoenix and couldn’t get one. I think they are rougher today than they were then, but Barkley did play rough.

As far as I’m concerned he was always all hype. He only made the finals one time and lost to Jordan. During his time in the League he wasn’t even in the top 10 in ability. Hakeem Olajuwan, Patrick Ewing, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippin, James Worthy, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson. . . I don’t even think he should have been on the ‘dream team’.

Dude, he was not as good as he thought he was or the hype said he was. He was mostly known for his mouth than how he played. He got stats from his extended minutes.

I can break down a basketball player point by point. Barkley doesn’t want to get me started on his fake career.

ThackerAgency on February 16, 2008 at 1:10 AM

Charles Barkley starring in: “I’m Not Very Intelligent”

Metro on February 16, 2008 at 1:13 AM

Before watching sputterings and utterances on that clip, I thought the ugliest thing about Charles Barkley was his golf swing. I stand corrected.

Mallard T. Drake on February 16, 2008 at 1:16 AM

Oh yeah, I forgot that when he couldn’t win the ring in Phoenix, he went to Houston AFTER they won 2 rings (hoping to get one of his own). Like I said, he made career moves to chase a ring and never got one. That says a LOT about his ability.

ThackerAgency on February 16, 2008 at 1:17 AM

Don’t mention Barkley’s one appearance in the finals when he was in Phoenix. I can feel my conspiracy theory waking up regarding the officiating in Game 7 of the Western Finals against the Sonics. Watching that game, there were so many ticky-tack calls against the Sonics that at one point I couldn’t get upset any more. It was obvious, to me anyway, that the league desperately wanted Barkley in the Finals against Jordan and the Sonics were in the way.
