With all respect, you are wrong. Watch the hi-def trailer closely and get back to me. Guys in US Army uniforms are clearly bullying Indy around. Now, those uniforms may be disguises, who knows.

On a more serious..ish.. note, it sure did feel.. weird.. to hear ‘that’ music again being played in a trailer. Didn’t think it’d have that effect on me..

Is it just me or did I see the guy who played Young Indiana Jones in the TV series (which I love,btw)?

No idea, but had to chime in that I thought that was a very good series, too.

I had some concerns about the portrayal of the US soldiers as well but if you take a close look Indy is being pulled out of the trunk of the car.
Clearly a “spy” thing to do and he got caught, so the treatment by the soldiers.
Also Blanchett’s (sp?) character does appear to be directing the soldiers after Indy. Indeed she could be a Soviet mole.

Oh, and did anyone notice near the end between the “I thought you were a teacher” and “part-time” lines that Indy is beating the bejeezus out of a “Russkie?©”

Anti-American? Did you guys watch the same trailer I did? Watch it again. Yes, that's it, at the verrrryyy end. David Koepp wrote the screenplay! Good action writer with a great moral sense that goes well w/ his excellent sense of humor, so I seriously, seriously doubt that the movie will be anti-American. You know: Jurassic Park? Spider-Man 1, and 2 + 3 or just 2 or whatever? Panic Room? He wrote them all. This movie'll be OK. BECAUSE OF THE KOEPP!

Nope, PP, the guy that played Young Indy was Sean Patrick Flanery. Unfortunately, I think they thought he was too old for the role now. Sucks…I’d have loved them to have tied the movies to the tv series. Alas, no luck.

I could be wrong, but based on the people I know, the kind of person who likes Indiana Jones is also the kind of person who eats red meat, owns guns, and supports the military. So if they made the Army look bad (which I don’t see happening), it’d be a huge misstep – it would eliminate a big fanbase.

As for anti-communism, I’m hoping and praying they don’t portray it as exaggerated – but looks like its some sort of Soviet infiltration into the Army, which would suggest the opposite.

Indy is trying to stop the soviet spy from getting something out of that warehouse from the first movie.

SO yes, it is guarded by US Army guys. Some may get punched in the face. THere is no chance you’ll see them portrayed as bad guys.

Cate Blanchett’s character is a Soviet agent, and since none of the guys in US Army uniforms are after her, I think it more likely that they’re infiltrators of some kind, rather than Indy fighting the Army. Besides, if they’re “Area 51″ guards, shouldn’t they be Air Force? Naw, they’re bad guys in disguise, is all.

I think you guys are getting too worked up about the perceived Indy vs. U.S. Army thing. It looks to me like he’s trying to get into the same super-secret government warehouse where the Ark is stored. Wouldn’t the soldiers guarding the place try to stop him?

Some of you guys need to relax. We know very little about the plot. There are many plot reason why people who appear to be wearing US uniforms get blown up or beat up Indy. I bet you can think of a dozen off the top of your head.

- They’re Russian spies disguised as US soldiers
- Indy is trying to steal some McGuffin from a US base and soldiers legitimately rough him up.
- The US soldiers are being blown up by, I don’t know, the bad guys?

Remember, Raiders and Crusade when Indy wore a Nazi uniform? Was that pro-Nazi? Of course not. It’s Indiana Jones. It’s an action flick. People wear diguises.

As for Lucas, he may be an anti-Bush moonbat but according to Vanity Fair he’s been carrying around this script for many years, from before Bush got into office. While there may be some dialogue that jabs W or Iraq, I doubt the structure of the plot was revised to accommidate an anti-Bush line.
