The conservative republicans feel more affection for Bush than for McCain, correct? Yet they stand up and fight against Bush when he tries to foist stupid stuff upon us (Harriet Miers, amnesty).

Why the certainty that they wouldn’t fight even harder against McCain, who they don’t exactly love?

Their entire effectiveness has been based on getting democrats like Jim Marshall (house, GA) and Claire McCaskill (senate, MO) to vote with them, because the dems are still in the majority, and will still be in December 2008.

If it’s a dem POTUS, those votes will be exponentially harder to get. The dem caucus leaders will let their folks vote with conservative GOP insurgents if it is against the GOP president. They won’t be nearly so willing to let their members rock the boat if that amnesty proposal came from one of their own.

Show me the real danger to the USA from illegal workers and immigrants.

Although Saltysam has more than adequately answered you, and there is no way to get thru to you, I’m going to expand on his response just a little further. Yesterday on azcentral.com, oddly enough, this was posted.
If you don’t see and comprehend that this is a danger to American citizens that we don’t need, want, nor deserve to have thrusted upon us, no matter what these people want to accomplish with their lives then you are just a daft git not worthy of expelling any hot air on the subject.

The Spanish language and consequently the culture does not focus on personal responsibility. You can’t say “I dropped the glass” in Spanish, you say “the glass slipped out of my hand”. You can’t say “I missed the plane”, you say” the plane left without me”.

This handicap of the spanish language contributes to the replete corruption of Latin America and the utter lack of respect of law. They learn to be a irresponsable victims as they learn Spanish.

That is one reason it is so important for Latin immigrants to learn English.

All we are saying, is give fence a chance.

It is not our responsibility to prop Mexico up. If the illegal immigrants would organize mass protests against their own government rather than ours perhaps things might improve in their own country.
