Three Afghans nabbed with fake Mexican passports

Nothing to see here, move along.

Three Afghan nationals were arrested at the Nedumbaserry International Airport, near here, today for travelling on fake Mexican passports, Immigration officials said.

The three were earlier in the day deported from Kuwait after authorities there doubted their claim to be Mexican nationals.

Immigration and other security officials interrogated the three for several hours and finally arrested them on charges of travelling on forged passports.

According to Immgiration officials, they were Afghan nationals trying to go to France. However, their real names have not been disclosed so far.

The Mexican passports which they were carrying identified them as Antonio Lopez Juan (42), Javier Sanchez Alberto (20) and Atonio Lopez Ernesto (16). They had left from Nedumbaserry Airport on February 11 for Kuwait en route to France.

However, the emigration officials at Kuwait had found them to be suspects as they reportedly could not understand any Spanish. They also suspected the passports to be forged. The three were then deported to Nedumbaserry today.

Nedumbaserry? Indeed. I’m sure there’s no significance at all to the fact that they just happened to have faked Mexican passports. It’s not like those would make it easier to get into the US or anything.

Common sense saw this years ago. Too bad those in Washington DC will still not see it ever after it is put right in front of their face.

They are all trying to get the Mexican vote down the road in 2020+, ignoring the fact that the USA may not exist like it is now past 2016.

Arabs/Muslims/Middle Eastern people being caught in Mexico under mysterious circumstances, crossing the border, etc. I know there have been at least a handful of instances over the years but they usually only get passing mention, but I’d like to see a list.

RightWinged on February 14, 2008 at 10:16 AM

Show me the real danger to the USA from illegal workers and immigrants.

Well, Viscount_Bolingbroke — the problem mainly lies in the fact that
(a) they skip out on paying federal or state income tax,
(b) they hit the local hospitals, ERs, and clinics for medical services and then never pay squat,
(c) they pack 8 people per apartments designed for 2 and overload the municipal sewer systems,
(d) they park large families of kids into the local school systems which then pay extra money for “English as a 2nd language” teachers, increasing the class sizes, but NOT paying their fair share to support the schools,
(e) they drive on the roads without licenses and without ever having to pass drivers education training in the USA so they have a higher rate of accidents and then
(f) they skip without paying for the insurance or medical expenses for those they injure in those accidents.

Need I go on? The point is — they consume far more in social services than they contribute to the economy. It isn’t like they are coming in illegally and taking jobs as engineers, doctors, or systems analysts. They take low paying, cash oriented jobs, pay squat in taxes, use medical services and school services — and don’t pay for them.

But, you need to deal with your inherent racism before you spew your ignorance on this subject. When you begin to see people without regard to the things they can’t change, like heredity, nationality, or skin color, then you can begin to discuss things on the basis of principle.

Not if we had enough border patrol agents, with the right to stop those who climb or dig, and the authority to shoot those who defy them.

But I have to agree on one thing. If a “virtual” fence works better, I’m all for it.

the problem is that the law is being an ass if it crimminalizes what a great many people do already.

The law against unchecked entry did not criminalize what many “already” do. The large influx of illegals is very recent, much of it occuring since Dubya became president. The law was in place decades earlier.

I would also point out that the United States is by no means the only country that has such a law. In fact, so does Mexico. Is their law, too, “an ass”?

Show me the real danger to the USA from illegal workers and immigrants.

Let me count the ways:

They hurt the economy, including driving down the wages for some workers.

They commit other crimes after entering, such as gang activity.

(See here for information on these first two items. Lots of links in the article, too.)

They damage the environment.

They raise the cost of health care.

They smuggle illegal drugs into the U.S.

Need I say more?

But even their illegal activity isn’t even the worst problem. This is because a border open to unchecked immigration is also a border open to drugs, and open to terrorists.

sburg57 on February 14, 2008 at 10:51 AM

The reason for the fence should be to eliminate the excuse of an accidental crossing. You can’t “accidentally” walk into my locked house, if I find you there then you are hear to do harm and I will shoot to kill. Same with the fence, you don’t accidentally cross it, you do it willingly with malicious intent and we should treat those incursions as such. A fence my not stop, but it does remove all doubt as to intent!

rgranger on February 14, 2008 at 10:51 AM

Well, I suppose I shouldn’t admit that I’m human like the next woman. I should appeal to various fiduciary reasons such as cheap labor = better economy. If I do that, however, I’ll just play into the argument that illegals are a drain on the government programs. I would rather say that the case for amnesty is that it would improve the situation both for the illegals and for the citizens. It would bring illegals into the taxation and record-keeping systems as well as give them a stake in the nation. Hopefully as full equal citizens. I’m amenable to debate on when exactly the amnesty will grant full citizenship, but I want it to happen.

As for the border, the problem isn’t enforcement but rather facing the reasons that hordes of people are striving to cross over to the USA. The main reason is that their own countries are poor and their lives could be improved by coming here. The answer I favor is to do what we can to improve the political and economic situation south of the border. Only then will people want to stay there and not come here.

Viscount_Bolingbroke on February 14, 2008 at 10:53 AM

As for my supposed “racism,” you can smear me all you like. I only admitted that I inherently find those who are not *like me* to seem strange and in some way unsettling. That’s just evolution and instinct speaking. It’s not skin color that I refer to as the bigotry against Hispanics, but rather the cultural differences such as language, religion, goals, family style, etc. It’s also a question of economics. If the immigrants risking life and punishment in order to cross our border were sufficiently like us, they wouldn’t want to come here in the first place. My approach is to try to accomplish that by normalizing their status in this country and by advocating assistance to countries like Mexico in order that they might become more prosperous.

The Spanish language and consequently the culture does not focus on personal responsibility. You can’t say “I dropped the glass” in Spanish, you say “the glass slipped out of my hand”. You can’t say “I missed the plane”, you say” the plane left without me”.

This handicap of the spanish language contributes to the replete corruption of Latin America and the utter lack of respect of law. They learn to be a irresponsable victims as they learn Spanish.

That is one reason it is so important for Latin immigrants to learn English.

Although Saltysam has more than adequately answered you, and there is no way to get thru to you, I’m going to expand on his response just a little further. Yesterday on azcentral.com, oddly enough, this was posted.
If you don’t see and comprehend that this is a danger to American citizens that we don’t need, want, nor deserve to have thrusted upon us, no matter what these people want to accomplish with their lives then you are just a daft git not worthy of expelling any hot air on the subject.

For those who still think Obama wouldn’t be worse than McCain on immigration/amnesty:

The conservative republicans feel more affection for Bush than for McCain, correct? Yet they stand up and fight against Bush when he tries to foist stupid stuff upon us (Harriet Miers, amnesty).

Why the certainty that they wouldn’t fight even harder against McCain, who they don’t exactly love?

Their entire effectiveness has been based on getting democrats like Jim Marshall (house, GA) and Claire McCaskill (senate, MO) to vote with them, because the dems are still in the majority, and will still be in December 2008.

If it’s a dem POTUS, those votes will be exponentially harder to get. The dem caucus leaders will let their folks vote with conservative GOP insurgents if it is against the GOP president. They won’t be nearly so willing to let their members rock the boat if that amnesty proposal came from one of their own.

*groan*

You point the accusatory finger when posters made NO reference to race as a basis for rational arguments.

YOU brought up race, YOU said you feel uncomfortable around “them”, which clearly illustrates your inability to understand this issue because you’re so blinded by your own excuses.

In this time of political witch-hunting by simply pointing and shouting “RACIST”, it took a degree of guts on your part to admit your nagging problem, I “suppose“.

I’ve met many well-meaning people that have no clue, but it appears you may not even suspect anything.

They are here to jobs Americans won’t do.

However, the emigration officials at Kuwait had found them to be suspects as they reportedly could not understand any Spanish.

Yeah, that kinda gives it away. Claim to be Spanish, yet cannot speak/understand Spanish. It’s almost like being an American and not knowing any English…..oh wait a minute……nevermind.

Why would anyone need a passport to sneak into the US?

frode on February 14, 2008 at 12:22 PM

1,969 Miles.

Avg distance from the earth to the moon: 250,000 miles.

Of course, you’ll be telling me that we can’t tackle that project either… oops.. been there, done that…

If only they had put on those big bushy moustaches, they would have been waived through.

Comments like Bolingbroke’s used to befuddle me until I realized that liberals don’t have a real argument to justify their amnesty stance so they change the issue to the black, evil souls of conservatives and the moral superority of Bolingbroke the poor persecuted lover of all mankind. The fact is that no one has posted anything racist and if Bolingbroke loved mankind so much he’d be out helping mankind instead of trolling here. He just enjoys the reaction he can provoke with his hate talk.

snaggletoothie on February 14, 2008 at 12:47 PM

Bolingbroke is just a plant working for various business interests that feel threatened by the law of the land, and the current mood of the American people.

She has no interest in helping out mankind, that’s just the script she was handed. They have no argument so they jump on the baseless xenophobe/racist accusations.

She blew it by illustrating the real racism that feeds this Senatorial/Presidential induced system of cheap labor. She’s probably fired by now.

Line from “Jaws”, “you won’t believe there is a shark out there ’til it swims up and bites you in the ass”. It amazes me how complacent the US citizenry has become, and 9/11 not even 10 years old.

To Geraldo they are still his friends, and we racists are the problem here.

It must have been their mustaches that got them into trouble.

Immigration and other security officials interrogated the three for several hours

I bet they used Starbucks coffee during the interrogation…works every time.
