Confirmed: Obama is an unreconstructed liberal

I realize that Republicans don’t exactly corner the market on government spending restraint (thanks, W, thanks, Congress!) but hopefully someone on the Hill will resist Barack Obama’s latest big government scheme. He wants to spend $210 billion “creating” jobs.
Democrat Barack Obama said Wednesday that as president he would spend $210 billion to create jobs in construction and environmental industries, as he tried to win over economically struggling voters.
Or buy their votes with someone else’s money. As the title says, he’s an unreconstructed lefty. That’s how they are.
Obama’s investment would be over 10 years as part of two programs. The larger is $150 billion to create 5 million so-called “green collar” jobs to develop more environmentally friendly energy sources.
Sixty-billion dollars would go to a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to rebuild highways, bridges, airports and other public projects. Obama estimated that could generate nearly 2 million jobs, many of them in the construction industry that’s been hit by the housing crisis.
Airports and roads? The environmental extremists in the Democrat coalition are just going to love that. And by the time they get through taking these construction projects to court, Barack Obama will be a very old man.
The Hillary campaign’s response is typically lame.
Neera Tanden, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s policy director, said Obama was offering ideas Clinton proposed months ago. “Voters may ask themselves that if Senator Obama cannot produce his own ideas on the campaign trail, how will he solve new problems as president?” Tanden said in a memo e-mailed to reporters.
Because spending other people’s money is such an original idea.
I’m becoming bored with Obama. He’s a conventional liberal who happens to be a better salesman than the rest of them, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be any better in office than any other liberal. They all chip away at the free market while they weaken our standing in the world. They’re all infected with the same PC multi-culti claptrap and most of them never met a tax hike or government program that they didn’t like (except the military, which most of them hate and can’t wait to slash). Not interested.
Maybe it was Dean Barnett’s little exposee that has reporters paying more attention to how Obama speaks, but it’s interesting that the reporter thought to include this detail.
He read from a TelePrompTer in an industrial training room, flanked by sparkling new vehicles and a large American flag.
He had to have a prompter even for what sounds like a low-key speech in a small venue? Hm. He has a weakness. He needs a crutch.

LOL Bryan, there was so much cynicism in that post I though AP wrote it (AP is a fan of the word “unreconstructed.”)
My problem with Obama is that he’s all telecrutch and no substance. He should be named BaRon OBurgandy, because he does not actually think about or believe what he says, he just reads whatever the teleprompter tells him to.
In fairness to Ron Burgandy, he was probably the smarter, better looking, more articulate, and sincere of the two outside the tube vision.

i figure that either mccain will win (and things won’t be terrible) – or obama will win and things will be terrible, but only for four years – and then conservatives will rule again for decades.

Is my math right? Each job costs 30,000 dollars to “create”. i think we should give people 5 million people 20,000 dollars, and we are ahead of the game. Playing with other peoples’ money is fun.

He can deliver a moving speech like a southern preacher, but without the teleprompter, he’s toast.

There’s a good argument to be made for government spending on developing new energy sources, but the place to put the money is into research and development, not “job creation.” Innovation is the real engine of our economy; job-creation programs are generally backward-looking.

I’m all for it, if and only if, the category “green collar” jobs is expanded to include environmentalism a la Timothy Treadwell.
If what you subsidize you get more of, I’ll go against my conservative principals and agree to federal money for object lessons in practical Darwinism.

I don’t care what he wants to spend it on after the drunk sailor spending of Bush and company (oh wait, yeah those “R’s” who can’t seem to figure out they were suppose to be different…
if Bush can give away 1.4 Billion to Mexico for their fence (and that’s just what he wants now, not including what we have already doled out to the leeches)… and we can bank role Iraq and the Middle East…
and McCain wants to hang out in Iraq for 100 years (not billions but a word we don’t even have a name for in amount) and chase Osama to hell (we won’t even go there on the truth behind that statement)…
and NAFTA and CAFTA have leacched not just jobs, but seems to have the people from those “partnerships” running here for goodies also (and McCain and Bush and our government ready to open the bank to them)… they sure know something we don’t know…
I say…
bring it on baby, bring on the goodies… if the bank is going to go broke, may as well spend it on Americans

Unreconstructed is a single word for “no sense of history”.
What he proposes is out of the New Deal, and no more valuable. It is older even than George McGovern’s grab for votes by promising every citizen $1000. Only the scale of the program differ.
I hope Obama does win the nomination of the Dems. He will be easier to beat. The downside of either his non-selection by Howard Dean et. al. or loss in the general election is that many blacks, having voted for Hussein because of his race, will only be able to comprehend his loss…as a matter of race. This will poison the well for some people and make the racial divide wider.
But that is what Democrats feed on, the racism, class envy, whatever it takes…
Harry Schell on February 13, 2008 at 9:45 PM
Obama’s eleventy-gazillion dollar proposals will be a little better received in Congress than Ron Paul’s “let’s eliminate Congress first, and then figure out where to go from there” plan would have gotten in a Republican committee.
But it doesn’t really matter too much. Congressmen don’t advance their careers by funding any President’s Seven Year Plans for him. Congressmen advance their careers by funding their own grandiose schemes.
The only real difference between either remaining Democrat candidate and McCain is that a Democrat President would give the Republican Whip and Majority someone to fight against. John McCain would be George Bush on steroids: a rubber stamp in a suit.

Neera Tanden, Hillary Rodham Clinton’s policy director, said
Obama was offering ideas Clinton proposed months ago.we can waste more money on more projects than the Messiah.Fixed.
A short note relating to the hearings today …….
In his autobiography, Obama admits to having smoked marijuana, using some cocaine, briefly flirting with the idea of trying heroin (although he never used any) and imbibing a fair amount of alcohol when he was in high school and college.
The Dems, led by WaxmanPig today, had their panties in a bunch over Roger Clemens use of HGH and how his use of illegals drugs made him a lousy role model for today’s youth. Like attack dogs, all of the Dems on the committee went after Clemens like he was an axe murderer. I don’t for a minute condone what he’s accused of, but his past transgressions were far less than those admitted by Obambi.
So the question is, when will Obambi be hauled in to testify before Waxman’s oversight committee?

Bingo. The Debate formats have shown this too. When he’s seated and focused on one opponent with a well modulated series of questions with extensive time to plan his next thought, he’s good.
But when the forum is more free form and open ended, he muttered, doubled back and was less than coherent.
Mav is better on his feet. Watch for a series of bludners from the Messiah when the rubber hits the road. Exit Q: Will Mrs. Clinton push for a stand up podium debate with agressive questioners or will Obama retreat to extended stump speach formats.

Sooner or later people will discover the true identity of Barack Hussein: a Puppet of the big donors (Soros, for example) full of the usual Washington D.C. crap.
Wait few months from now. The truth can never hide.
And of course he has to read from a Telepromter, of course in other cases, he memorizes his “speeches,” or holding a piece of paper to remember what they told him to say. You don’t want him to screw up, are you? Or the Masters will be mad at him.
How can’t anybody see an “uncle Tom” in the making, a puppet performing what his Masters are telling him to say and do?
I guess it’s taboo to even mention reality.

Actually, a political ad to the tune of “Hey, big spender!” would be funny with Obama, since it would also hit on the quasi-erotic adoration of his fans. I was watching a clip of him arriving at one or another public event, and there was a well-dressed, perfectly normal 30-ish looking woman who, the moment she saw him walking by, started bopping like a ten-year-old, completely losing it.
Someone needs to mash up a video of Obamaphiliacs indulging in their most embarrassing displays. Maybe we can shame some sense into them.

But I’d classify her more as a Kerryista. The Clinton’s ‘play for keeps’ style is just a little too rough for her. She likes squishy, empty suits, as long as they are liberal.
She has written a few articles that were somewhat critical of the Clintons…
I’m actually surprised that this article wasn’t a complete suckup to Obama…. He is just her type.

It’s almost as if Obama is trying to bring on another Great Depression by channeling FDR and bringing back all those big-spending, make-work, government hand-out programs that economists say actually extended the Depression. You’d think a guy who is supposed to be as smart as Obama (or Clinton, for that matter) might actually do a little reading and analysis before they propose stupid stuff like this.
A perfect example of the admonition that those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.
AZCoyote on February 14, 2008 at 6:58 AM
Well, as full of fluff and nonsense as Barry O may be, someone in his campaign has snuck at least part of a nugget into the steaming pile of crap he’s pushing – the need to focus, or refocus (unreconstruction is an issue) on infrastructure items. Roads, highways and bridges.
Admittedly, given the current state of things, from the DC perspective, maintenance of the Interstate highway system consists mainly of shoveling vast sums of money to state (and local) governments for them to promptly squander at their leisure – and most likely, any move to bring the whole mess under any sort of rational control is likely to ignite a firestorm of controversy over federal oversight, mismanagement, and intrusion into the business of local and state level government – you know, the same old gripe that was a minor principle of that whole civil war thing.
However, given that the average American voter doesn’t really have enough of a clue about the actuality of how money is moved around in our current system, much less which branches and organizations are actually responsible for what, combined with the everyday confrontation with the reality that maintenance of our transportation infrastructure (and its shortfalls, of which there is a constantly accumulating list of annoyances) is ‘less than optimal’ – well…forget the portions that would make the Goracle all warm, fuzzy, and carbon neutral – there’s enough there to actually resonate with the semi-conscious masses. And sidestepping the larger ideological issues – by making soaring promises about something almost everyone agrees needs attention (without getting into any messy details) – that’s a formula for success by bamboozlement.
Watch for them to hammer away on this, and things like it, particularly if it does well in polling and with focus groups.
Would he actually be able to satisfy the expectation generated about such things, if elected? Oh hell no, it’d turn into yet another liberal feel good train wreck, with the mere attempt providing enough spin fodder to keep the useful idiots of the media atwitter and chattering with reverence for hours, and hours, and hours.
Then again, maybe I’m just being cynical.
Nah.
Wind Rider on February 14, 2008 at 7:03 AM

One thing is for sure,, should conservatives stand up again with a clear voice, the people will follow!
All of the gains by socialism we have witnessed are false gains.
We watch McCain, Obama and the Clintons and they seem like such giants,, as though they are so unstoppable. As though all the nation is crying out to be socialized! Creeping Fascism here! Creeping Socialism there
