To state that all of the world’s Muslims are terrorists, whether or not Islam provides the groundwork for its justification in the texts, and to suggest that if they denounce or simply ignore the jihadist principle inherent in Islam, that they cease to be Muslims ,is ludicrous.

You missed the point entirely. Robert was not attempting to provide an argument for ideological moral equivalency between Islam and Christianity, simply because there is none.

“Lapsed” Christians and “lapsed” Muslims are one in the same. Neither follow their ideology to its fullest. This says everything about the individual Christian or Muslim and nothing about Christianity or Islam.

Actually, all puppies don’t bite. And as for Muslims, I am not pretending anything. There are millions upon millions of people who are culturally Muslim but are not interested in advancing the jihad agenda or even necessarily aware of it.

Do you not know that there are millions of people who call themselves Christians but who pay little or no attention to the effort of conforming their lives to Christian teachings? In every belief-system there is a spectrum of belief, knowledge, and fervor, and Islam is no different.

To extrapolate from Islamic teachings to the proposition that all Muslims believe in and are advancing the jihadist cause is just as absurd as assuming that because Jesus said to love your enemies, that every last Christian is humble, self-effacing, non-combative, and forgiving.

You are forgetting your own arguments.

As you try to explain, to no apparent avail, teachings from all of the Islamic schools are basically the same when it comes to jihad and Muslim aggression. How many times do you have ask for the “moderate” Muslims to speak out in support of freedom of conscience and the dignity of all faiths?

I am also very surprised to see you, of all people, pull the “Christian comparison”. I don’t care how many Christians do not follow the Christian way. They at least cannot use Christianity to support what they do, and other Christians can rightfully say they are not acting like “true Christians” and in no way could anyone use those people as examples of how to live up to Christian beliefs.

I can’t BELIEVE you even replied the way you did. It’s like you don’t even read your own words.

A lapsed Christian should in no way ever be compared to a Muslim who chooses to be a human being and ignore Islamic teachings.
