The exciting conclusion! Will the Obamites finally come up with a concrete achievement? Or is it Hope and Change from now until Election Day? An anxious Maverick waits in the wings.

His best accomplishment is his skin pigment? What did he have to do with that? Man, those people are scary.

To be honest, what did Bush 43 really accomplish before running for President? Let’s face it… less than Obama.

Better question: Name one accomplishment by either Obama or Hillary.

Theworldisnotenough on February 11, 2008 at 10:32 PM
In this guy’s defense, he didn’t say that ‘being black’ was his best accomplishment. He said getting elected as a black man was his accomplishment. . . which is impressive since he’s the only guy who has done it.
Having said that, he ran against Alan Keyes (who was sort of a carpetbagger who threw his campaign together at the last minute after Ryan imploded). So if the choice is between a black guy and a black guy, I guess a black guy is going to win, eh? Sort of like the Superbowl last year.

Bush worked in the private sector, was involved in politics since 1978, and was a two-term governor.
amerpundit on February 11, 2008 at 10:34 PM
He didn’t do much, but he did more than Obama has done. For instance, he was the primary player in the construction of the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. That deal greatly increased the value of the team, ultimately making him a wealthy man.
flyfisher on February 11, 2008 at 10:35 PM
Why are most HAers so pessimistic? Keep hope alive–J-Mac will portray him as an inexperienced liberal extremist & win in Nov.

She’s still Mrs. Clinton. That’s an accomplishment of Herculean effort.
If I were a woman, and her, I’d either be divorced, or known as ‘The Widow Clinton’ in my penitentiary….
darkpixel on February 11, 2008 at 10:36 PM
Yeah, but he didn’t really accomplish much in the private sector based on anything I’ve read, and to quote Mr. Luntz: “Oh so he got elected? That’s an accomplishment?”
Yoosaion on February 11, 2008 at 10:37 PM
Are you nuts? Twice elected of Governor of Texas. One of the top elected offices in the country. Running something as the executive is far superior to legislative duties. That’s why so many Presidents have been Governors first.

No one was running around in 2000 saying that Bush was going to be our savior or, more fairly, the next JFK.
The praise for Obama is way out of proportion to his public accomplishments. He’s an impressive person; but some of this is silly.
SteveMG on February 11, 2008 at 10:38 PM

Name one accomplishment by Bush or McCain. Being black is starting to look like just as good a reason as any to vote for Obama. It definitely beats any reason to vote for Treason McCain

What’s really sad is… even with these stupid answers…McCain still can’t win and looks like a deceitful salesman (and Huck is still giving him a headache). Talk about a supreme embarrassment to a party. Even my least favorite President of all time, Slick Willy Clinton, who was CiNC when I was int he Army, is looking better… and that’s not a good thing for McCain.

Obama really scares me. An America that has been raised on style over substance since WWII is primed for disaster.
An empty suit in the White House might get us gone in a world that’s licking it’s chops at the opportunity to get us to that “gone” place.
First Eurabia.
Then DhimERICA.

Why is Bill Clinton your least favorite president? He didn’t really seem to accomplish much, bad or good.

These people are getting check from the government because, why?
He has the accomplishment of being a very good snake oil salesman.
Kini on February 11, 2008 at 10:45 PM
Come on, though, I think it’s a fair point to raise and I’d like to hear Hannity’s response. After all, Obama–even with his forays into illegal substances–has a much more impressive record as a student, was President of the Harvard Law Review, and has written (not ghostwritten, as far as I know) two books. If you’re going to complain about his supporters not knowing these things, fine, but I think that resume stands up to and surpasses Bush’s as far as accomplishments go.
Yoosaion on February 11, 2008 at 10:46 PM
Bush responded well initially to 9/11. He didn’t dick around. He hasn’t been a total disaster. Voting for a guy based on skin color has kind of a nasty ring to it, especially after watching that video.

He’s not the only black man to get into the Senate.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Americans_in_the_United_States_Congress
And there’s lots of black Representatives.
But really, that means the exact same thing that the first guy said – “He’s been a senator for 2 years!” – which Frank translated to, “He’s been elected, that’s his accomplishment?”

Hee Hee, wreaked havoc in the private sector is more like it. Romney he ain’t. But I do think his experience as governor was an “accomplishment” since he was so well regarded. Obama is a charismatic black (half, actually, but no one can mention that) man that seems kind of nice. Pretty lame. BTW, Obama ain’t the first black man to be elected to the Senate, unless I am forgetting my history.

Kini on February 11, 2008 at 10:55 PM
All kidding aside, with all due respect to the “real conservatives”, no candidate on the Republican side more clearly demonstrates the complete lack of accomplishment in Obama’s life than McCain.
Compared to John McCain’s life story, Obama is still an infant. A stylish, charismatic, charming infant, but an infant nonetheless.
JayHaw Phrenzie on February 11, 2008 at 10:56 PM
Oh wait I have a McCain accomplishment:

Regarding Integrity? Light Years of difference.
JayHaw Phrenzie on February 11, 2008 at 10:57 PM
Mr. Colmes:
You ask what is it that’s so appealing about Obama, when there are no accomplishments there. Can’t you see, experience is secondary when folks are so sick and tired of the politics of envy, resentment, victimology and hate that your people feed on? America prefers idealism and integrity over experience and the politics of hate in a heartbeat.
Multiculturalism, class warfare, racism and sexism is OUT. HOPE for a better style of politics, a loftier set of ideals, a more idealistic America is in.
Maybe it’s empty emotion that sustains Obama, but at least it’s lofty emotion, in the tradition of the classic liberalism of JFK, rather than the basest, vilest emotions such as you hacks preach.
Regards
petefrt on February 11, 2008 at 10:57 PM
Bush was the governor of, what is it called? Texas! Come on people Obama ran against Alan Keyes and has a grand total of 3 years in the Senate in which time he has become the most liberal members of the Senate. Pointing at Bush does not give Obama any accomplishments or make him equally qualified for the office. It is clear his supporters think his qualification is his personality, not ability.
Theworldisnotenough on February 11, 2008 at 10:57 PM
Whats really enlightening here is that there no plants,
and the audience appears not to be stacked, and yet Obama
seems to be leaving Hillary in the dust,on the Liberal

If this was Hillarys audience you would have to give each audience member a time limit, after they go through a littany of talking points all the way up to her 35 years
of so-called experience, probably 35 years of getting Bills
b!lls out of jam!

Bush:
A) Led the nation through the worst terror attack in history, responded intensely to show Al Qaeda would be brought to justice.
B) Appointed two conservative judges to the Supreme Court bench.
C) Vetoed the massive SCHIP expansion, as well as numerous attempts to surrender in Iraq.
D) Promoted and helped to pass the Medicare Act of 2003.
E) Refused to support the Kyoto protocol.
F) If it’s an issue for you, he blocked federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.
McCain:
Without even getting into any legislation, serving our country and getting tortured for 5 years, winning the Silver Star, a Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, the Purple Heart, and a Distinguished Flying Cross. He’s also served in Congress since 1983.

You know, without Voter fraud in Illinois, Kennedy would have died a loser instead of the President (or maybe not been killed).
Luckily for Obama, I am sure he has Illinois locked up without the fraud.

Obama was smart enough to keep a goofy name like Obama (sounds like a Star Wars character… “Yoda”; “Daakman Barrek”", etc.) in a culture that likes memorable silliness.
And lucky enough to be half-black when running against a woman who is half-hated.
And can smile broader than the semi-constipated Hillary.
And his first name, Barack, sounds like a late, lovable “Simpsons” character (”Brock”).
He is a bizarre coincidence of cultural cliches -and the semi-conscious Zeitgeist- who is being swept toward power on an harmonic series of waves: of wishful thinking about War and Peace, of a white guilt absolution gesture, and of simmering racial resentment.
He is both “payback time for whitey” and “whitey’s way out”, in one person.
A miraculous fluke.
But, politically -and geopolitically/militarily- a naive, dangerously blank slate.
I can only he hope he has a Macaca moment and is retired from the race before we all have to suffer his fecklessness in office.

Serving years in your nation’s military and being tortured for 5 years and refusing to give is serving your country. We’re talking about a comparison to Obama. How many years did Obama serve in the armed forces?
Arnold sought and obtained control of the fort at West Point, which he then offered to hand over to the enemy for 20,000 pounds and a commission. He literally betrayed his country. To compare him to McCain because McCain takes a different position than we do is ridiculous.
“But McCain supported amnesty!”. Yes, so did Bush and Reagan in 1986. They aren’t Benedict Arnolds, are they?

SteveMG on February 11, 2008 at 11:15 PM
Whether you like them or not, those were indeed major political accomplishments. I don’t agree with all of his positions and decisions, either, but the man has indisputably been a power player in Washington for years, using his influence on both sides of the aisle. He clearly not only understands the legislative process, but (again, like it or not) has consistently demonstrated a noteworthy degree of savvy in working within it.
Something else he did that springs to mind was playing a key role several years ago in killing a Pentagon attempt to lease Boeing tankers on the grounds that insufficient studies had been conducted into whether or not outright procurement was the fiscally more responsible choice. That delayed getting tankers in the air, which is troubling considering the ageing state of the tanker force, but the current plan is indeed to procure outright, not lease. Again, there are arguments to be had on either side of that particular issue, but it was indeed an influential accomplishment. He is a player.
Blacklake on February 11, 2008 at 11:15 PM
There is more than one way to serve your country. He took a $10,000/year job as a community organizer upon graduation from an Ivy League school. But compared to Bush (my original point), I’d venture to say that he “accomplished” more there than Bush did in the Air Force.

That’s because the people don’t vote on issues. They vote on personality — which is why Obama is formidable.
We news junkies tend to think that everyone is like us. But they’re not. We’re not “normal.” If you use your standards for predicting what the electorate will do, you will go awry.
You can see it in this video clip. Obama’s supporters don’t care what he’s done; they just like him. That’s all you need to know. End transmission.

Thank you. There is a lot of time between now and November, and I don’t think Obama has enough substance to fill that time. He looks more ridiculous everyday, especially with Russian planes buzzing our aircraft carriers.
I think liberals will really regret promoting the cult of personality around him. Right now its Pinball Wizard, but by November it will be We’re Not Gonna Take It. The hero worship will be over.

Yeah, but they have positions to go with the slogans. Like Romney. “Washington is Broken”. Short slogan. But it had a meaning. John Edwards “Poor People ROCK!”. The guy DOES seem to pander to poor folks. But Obama has NOTHING behind his slogans. “Hope”….for what?! “Change”…change what? He just repeats them and follows them up with big words from the thesaurus. It’s the perfect formula for casting the American independent voters (the DUMBEST group of people in the WORLD) under your spell. I’ve NEVER heard Barack talk in detail about any issue.

Why would anyone respond to the comparison of Obama to Bush? Obama is a first term Senator who spends time running for office rather that represent those who elected him to office. Bush firzt flew F-102 Delta Daggers, the most dangerous plane in our inventory at the time. Obama has done literally nothing for this nation. Bush was elected governor of Texas twice. As chief executive of a state, he was and is much better qualified to be a chief executive that a legislator, who has limited knowledge of just about everything. Running on the mantra of hope and change are wonderful but Lenin ran on change. So did Hitler. What is Obama planning on changing and how does he propose to accomplish that. Certainly not with rhetoric

We, as a nation, should be “proud” of our democracy. While in many parts of the world people are fighting and are getting shot at because they want to establish a Democracy, Free Elections and Liberty, here, in the good old U.S. of A., the Americans of the 21st century are taking that same Democracy for granted and are abusing it.
When you hear and see American voters electing their candidates according to their race, skin color, religion, appearance and likability, not for their experience, record and ability to manage the most powerful and important job on Earth, then you know that something is wrong with America, you know that America is on the wrong path, you know how much the voters are shallow, uninformed, ignorant, stupid, brainwashed, and care less about America.
Can you imagine? The future of America lies on the hand of voters who “feel good” about their candidate, not on their competence and their ability to get things done according to a successful record.
In fact, the America which was founded on the Unity of Language, Border and Culture is so abused by the American people of the 21st century, it will cease to exist sooner or later and it will be replaced by Globalists, Internationalists, Socialists, bilinguals, trilinguals, open borders, a complete surrender to the global economy with the abolishment of the Dollar as the national currency and an utter decline in Military power.
You think it will not happened?
You are wrong. We are heading that way, and this generation will not pass until it happens.
You need a sign? You want to see the future of America? Then look at the candidates and those who are voting for them.
The only people who can destroy America are the American people.
Why the American people vote of the losers, the incompetent, and the power-hungry?
Why the American people do not learn from what is happening in Europe?
Good questions, huh? Read what I wrote above and you will find the answer.
May God have mercy on this country.

$10,000 a year to fill the giant coffee pot is a lot of money.

That comment (and the entire line of my argument) was directed toward Bush, not McCain, as I specifically pointed out in the comment. But that’s okay. I give up. I concede. You’re right. Candidate Bush was incredibly accomplished and Obama has never done anything admirable ever.
