The al Jazeera.net vote
posted at 12:48 pm on February 10, 2008 by Michelle
al Jazeera.net wants the rest of the world to vote in America’s presidential election. They’ve set up their own shadow global primaries on their website:
“As part of our special coverage of the 2008 US Presidential Elections, Al Jazeera wants to know what the world thinks about the candidates for an election whose effects will be felt around the globe…Choose who you would like to be the next President of the United States.”
Over/under on Obama? Hillary?
(hat tip – William Amos).

Does my vote count as only 1/3 of a man’s vote?
Deety on February 10, 2008 at 12:53 PM
When I voted, Mitt Romney was winning 80.6% of the vote from the Middle East. Did someone transplant Utah?
JustinHiggins on February 10, 2008 at 12:54 PM
Obama – 80%
Clinton – 20%
McCain – 0%
CliffHanger on February 10, 2008 at 12:55 PM
The First step towards a global politic without borders…..
I’m sure they wish Billy Jeff was on the ticket….
Strike that, it was when the US judges were referencing european law in order to make their decisions here in America…..
awesum on February 10, 2008 at 12:55 PM
This is an explanation of why Democrats want open borders.
landlines on February 10, 2008 at 12:59 PM
The Dem candidate – he or she – will have the full endorsement of that part of the world which wants America annihilated.
whitetop on February 10, 2008 at 12:59 PM
Check out how well Herr Doktor is doing…the Paulnuts never miss an opportunity to spam an online poll.
packsoldier on February 10, 2008 at 12:59 PM
And they accuse us of empire building.
Turn-around is fair play , so let’s pick their leaders, too.
bbz123 on February 10, 2008 at 1:00 PM
It would be interesting to know how McCain does in Vietnam.
RobCon on February 10, 2008 at 1:02 PM
packsoldier LOL I hope the lovely folks at aljazeera.net give them a nice cookie for their troubles.
I think Barry Hussein will get better than 80% of the legit (non Paulian) votes.
funky chicken on February 10, 2008 at 1:02 PM
Wow. So, Romney walks away with 80% of the Middle-Eastern vote.
Hiney Von Pewps on February 10, 2008 at 1:07 PM
Oh, brother…the Paul Patrol certainly doesn’t miss a single one, do they?
And the fact that, apparently world-wide, John McCain polls so low is even more reason to vote for him…but, like every online poll, the spammers have taken over the asylum.
JetBoy on February 10, 2008 at 1:15 PM
I’m working in Iraq along with a bunch of other guys. We’re 98% Republican and we all know who the best candidate is(was)…Romney. I would hate to have done all this work over here and have it all collapse on us if the US left too soon before this job is done. That’s probably a very big reason for the Romney numbers from this part of the world.
JetBlast on February 10, 2008 at 1:32 PM
My prediction:
Ron Paul “wins” the worldwide Republican nomination, the closest nomination he will ever win.
Barrack HUSSEIN Obama “wins” the worldwide Democratic nomination, but declines on the advice of his burkah-clad advisor, Doris Lessing.
“I’m only in favor of White, Western-Educated, card-carrying neo-Marxist women in charge of the evil US,” said Lessing as she sipped on her Starbucks Latte.
You heard it here first…

dmh0667 on February 10, 2008 at 1:40 PM
John McCain is al-Jazeera’s worst nightmare.
Pax americana on February 10, 2008 at 1:44 PM
Romney 80% amongst Al Jazeera viewers.
Hiney Von Pewps on February 10, 2008 at 1:45 PM
Sadly, your correct, but not for the reason you think…
As McCain Feingold clearly showed, McCain does not care about Free Speech rights.
Romeo13 on February 10, 2008 at 1:48 PM
Romney appears to be Al Jazeera’s dream.
Maybe Laura Ingraham can get a regular gig there.
Hiney Von Pewps on February 10, 2008 at 1:50 PM
Considering who the rest of the world puts into power they really dont have any reason to point fingers.
William Amos on February 10, 2008 at 1:54 PM
It’s always nice to know what our enemies are thinking…
Zorro on February 10, 2008 at 2:02 PM
I personally could give a flaming rat’s patootie what the heck Al-Jazeera, Al-Qaida, and all the other Als out there think of the Presidential Election. All they care about is getting that thorn in their side (Bush) out of office and hope that someone who they consider more “compliant” and “understanding” towards their way of thinking is elected.
pilamaye on February 10, 2008 at 2:17 PM
What does it way about Huckabee that he’s doing so well in the Al Jazeera poll?
Maybe they read his foreign policy diatribe, and figure he’ll turn the other cheek….and allow them to chop his head off.
bigred on February 10, 2008 at 2:21 PM
No, actually this could be a good thing; imagine the ads announcing to the Dhimmicrat sheeple and the independent voters that their candidate has the backing of Al-Jazeera, Al-Quaeda, Al-Gore, and all those other Als. Maybe someone can get Hamas, Hezbollah, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, and Mahmoud Ahmadinutjobbi, among others, to see who’d they prefer to be elected. Hello, Fox News, are you listening? After all, how will Bezerkley, Toledo, and all the other loon-bats in the US know how to vote otherwise?
dmh0667 on February 10, 2008 at 2:28 PM
A vote for McCain is a vote against Al-Jazeera.
Sounds like a slogan.
A 0% from them is the best endorsement a candidate could get.
profitsbeard on February 10, 2008 at 2:33 PM
I don’t trust McCain on even this issue. He’s flipped too many times on too many other issues to get my support.
Snake307 on February 10, 2008 at 2:45 PM
Given that Romney only became a “conservative” for the purposes of running for president as a Republican, maybe he should follow this polling data and run for Ahmendinejhad’s seat as an Islamist.
Hiney Von Pewps on February 10, 2008 at 2:54 PM
In the US column it’s Obama, Huckabee and Paul. The Paul vote is probably Paulbot spam. The large number from the Mid East for Romney is probably from our soldiers and allies.
imshocked on February 10, 2008 at 3:21 PM
The total votes are only about 5500 right now so this poll is most likely heavily skewed by which blogs etc. have a link to it.
imshocked on February 10, 2008 at 3:29 PM
Not so hard to see. They see the coverage of Huck as The Christian’s candidate and McCain as the War Hawk which leaves Mitt who they have never heard of.

It seems that Africa doen’t like Romney.
hinduconservative on February 10, 2008 at 3:48 PM
Dont take the region stuff to seriously Im sitting here in Ohio and I could vote that Im from the Middle East just by selecting that option.
William Amos on February 10, 2008 at 3:52 PM
Hell I’m going to complain to these dunces.
If they’ve got Mike Gravel for crying out loud, why not Alan Keyes? They obviously know that Alan wouldn’t appease them.

Tell the bastards to bend over, we have some nice large nukes to shove up their a$$es, Don’t worry, we’ll lubricate them with some bacon grease……

Why would anyone in the U.S.A. care who they would like?

I thought people weren’t supposed to interfere in other people’s politics–or is that just the Great Satan who is supposed to stay out?
PattyJ on February 10, 2008 at 5:27 PM
Because normal, sensible middle easterners want us to win the war on terror. The crazed jihadis vote democrat.
peacenprosperity on February 10, 2008 at 5:42 PM
I’ve got two grand on the Paulnut.
malan89 on February 10, 2008 at 5:43 PM
Or Mitt as the businessman, which would definitely rack up major points with a lot of Arabs.
But, no, what am I thinking, all AJ viewers are terrorist supporting ‘ragheads’ or something..
As Amos pointed out though, you can choose the region you’re voting from instead of the server reading your IP, so the whole thing doesn’t make any sense anyway
Reaps on February 10, 2008 at 8:50 PM
Even this wouldn’t be accurate given the widespread use of proxy servers.
Pax americana on February 10, 2008 at 9:09 PM
Obviously Mitt’s the winner.
AprilOrit on February 10, 2008 at 9:20 PM
Mitt Romney–The candidate who can win at both CPAC and Al Jazeera.
malan89 on February 10, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Mitt Romney – Everything to Anybody.
Speaks volumes about the ‘real’ conservatives who were cheering him on.
Pax americana on February 10, 2008 at 11:25 PM
Well, if the Paulbots can rig even al Jazeera’s poll, maybe there is hope for us after all in the jihad against the Jihad! Although I wonder what the Arabs think about the US overthrow of the former Iranian leader Mossadegh – who Ron Paul would bring up in his explanation as to why the people in the ME hate us.
infidelpride on February 11, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Mitt Romney 79% in the middle east? Strange numbers, really thought Barry would be the favorite.
koolbrease on February 11, 2008 at 5:38 AM
Romney isn’t that shocking in the Middle East is he? Pious man, believes in harems (polygyny) kinda seems like he was speaking their language. :p
