Perhaps she’s crying over the incompetence of her campaign

Yeah, yeah, Hillary’s eye spigot is dripping again.
Reader Ryan wants us not to get distracted from one of the real reasons Hillary Clinton should be crying tonight–the loss of today’s three Democrat presidential contests in Louisiana, Washington, and Nebraska to Barack Obama. Ryan’s conclusion: It’s the incompetence, stupid.
I’m sure you’ve seen this excuse-making from the Clinton campaign:
Tonight there are contests in three states that the Obama campaign has long predicted they would win by large margins. According to a spreadsheet that was obtained by Bloomberg News, the Obama campaign predicted big victories in Washington State, Nebraska and Louisiana.
The Obama campaign has dramatically outspent our campaign in these three states, saturating the airwaves with 30 and 60 second ads. The Obama campaign has spent $300,000 more in Louisiana on television ads, $190,000 more in Nebraska and $175,000 more in Washington…
Let’s put this in perspective:
During Clinton’s 2006 Senate race, several high-ranking aides voiced concerns about loose financial controls over such things as office supplies and advertising. The current campaign appears to be run more frugally, with headquarters in Virginia rather than on K Street. But the campaign’s latest reports still show unusual expenditures, such as nearly $500,000 last year for parking costs. A review of both campaigns’ financial filings show they aggressively spent money last year. Both spent more than $80 million before heading into the January primary season, including similar amounts on travel and events. Obama spent more on television advertising and field staff. Clinton spent nearly $4 million on political and media consultants; Obama spent about $1.4 million. So, they’re saying that they would have performed better in those states if they hadn’t blown $500K on parking. (how on earth did they manage to spend that much on parking anyways?) Is Brownie running their budget?
Just imagine if they weren’t dumping millions into the black hole that is Mark Penn. They might be able to open offices and hire staff in states like Virginia and Washington. But I’m sure Mark Penn is worth every penny.
While the Hill camp whines, Obama’s already busy raising a new round of funds based on today’s showing.
Yes, he can.

Oh great, the same kinds of schmucks at your office who think that the answer to a downturn in profits on the last quarterly statement is a lock on the supply closet and an afternoon spent redrafting the mission statement are in charge of stopping the Obamessiah.
If I were Hillary, I’d be friggin’ crying too.

Hillary cries because she cares so deeply. That’s something I want in a president - care, deeply. You can tell in the tracks of her tears how much more deeply she cares than Obama, who could never care as deeply as Hillary, or the evil Republicans, who of course do not care at all. Cry America a river, Hillary.

$500,000 on parking?? Anyone familiar w/ “No Pay Item” when bidding on construction jobs? For those that aren’t it’s an item that doesnt have a line in the bid tab. So the contractor has to work it in by adding that cost to another item. It’s why a hammer can “cost” $600.00. I wonder what kind of “No Pay Item” type expenses the Clinton campaign is hiding under “Parking Fees”??

NONE OF THIS MATTERS BECAUSE THE DELEGATES FROM FLORIDA AND
You have hit the nail on the head SG. Add to that all the so called “super delegates” that Dean and McCauliffe are buying up and the outcome has already been determined.
We are the ones who should be crying as these crooked basTURDS get away with murder. OOPS! - well, maybe as a last resort if the delegate buying doesn’t work out.
As most of us have known from the start, these people will do ANYTHING to accomplish their goal - get the witch nominated and elected.

The way I see it is I don’t think we even need to attack HRC anymore, its clear Obama is on his way to the WH. If fact, any GOP attacks could only help her at this point. Its funny, I almost feel like some of us are actually pushing for him? Please call me mistaken.
etan on February 10, 2008 at 4:57 AM
I don’t think you are mistaken. I think it is the ‘anybody but Hillary’ thing happening. Personally, I want these Clinton people to get beaten once and for all in hopes that they will just fade away and disappear. If the democrats are going to win the election, and I feel certain that they will, I just don’t think the country can survive for four (or eight) more years with these people in the White House. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, for what it is worth.
OBX Pete on February 10, 2008 at 5:46 AM

When she cried in NH last month, a lot of us said she wouldn’t be dumb enough to pull that stunt again. We were wrong.
Hillary didn’t cry over 9/11 or Katrina or the Oklahoma City bombing. She shed no tears over Monica, Gennifer or any other ‘bimbo eruption’.
But the floodgates open when her political ambitions are on the ropes. What a piece of work that woman is.
Cindy Sheehan introduced Hillary to some other mothers who had lost sons in Iraq. According to Sheehan, Hillary’s eyes remained dry throughout.
Of course, at that time she was Ms Inevitability.

$500,000.00 on parking?
Isn’t this the same candidate who said that the way to fix social security is to start responsible spending in Congress? Let’s forget for a moment that we know she’s an outright pandering liar, and simply ask where she’s been for the past 6yrs? Congress? And…she’s gonna influence spending in Congress as a President-not as a senator?

The issue of Florida and Michigan could rip the Dhims apart. If these two states are eventually counted contrary to the prior agreement between the Clinton and Obama forces and against the will of Obama, he could make life more of a living hell for the Billary than he is now.
JonRoss on February 10, 2008 at 9:30 AM
In essence, Obama would be penalized for living up to the agreement to keep his name off the ballot, and Hillary would be rewarded for reneging on her promise. Then there is also the superdelegate issue. I hope it stays close right up till the donk convention. It is the only thing, that might save us.

Dunno. When Donna Brazile, Ophra, the Black Congressional Caucus, Hollywood actors, and all the other high profile black folks start really playing the racial card for real, it’s going to have an impact. The pump is already primed, thanks to Clenis in SC. If nothing else, it should widen the divide between black and Hispanic base voters. The Dems don’t want to deal with that at the convention.
a capella on February 10, 2008 at 10:08 AM
I think the Clinton campaign will bring out all they have over the next couple of weeks. I do not see how Hillary can sit back, and allow Obama to continue with his surge. If they have any dirt on Obama, you can expect to see it soon. I love the divide this is causing within the democrat party. I think you will have some dissatisfied voters on the left whoever the nominee is.

AbaddonsReign on February 10, 2008 at 10:14 AM
If it comes down to McCain v. Obama, I think Obama has the edge. Thing is, as a people Americans are optimistic and want leaders that can justify our optimism. Obama will frame the choice between him and McCain as a choice between hope and fear, with him being hope and McCain being fear. That’s not a hard sell at this point. The only way for McCain to overcome this is for him to beat Obama in all the presidential debates. Problem is that I don’t see McCain winning even one debate against Obama.
So if Obama beats Hillary for the nomination, I think he’s won it all.

I see in our headlines section, the “Little Miss Sunshine” hit piece on her was done by a black author. The race card wasn’t played, but y’all know what motivated the article. Identity politics is gonna bite Hillary in her butt before this is all over, and it will hopefully screw up some of the donk power structure.

Halley on February 10, 2008 at 10:34 AM
Bush was right this morning on FNS when he said we should let McCain go after the moderates. The support for Obama is mainly due to HRC’s negatives and that could only help Republicans unless we try to force McCain too far right. A solid conservative veep should be enough to solidify our base. Do we really want to force McCain to pick between the evangelicals (they would love to see Huck on the ticket) over us? If anything, hate the game, not the player.

To spend $500K in parking, you’d have to pay for the DAILY work-week parking of 96 people at $20/day.
Here’s the math: 96 people x $20 X 260 days = $499K

“To gain credibility in this effort, we must make clear that we seek no permanent bases in Iraq. We should leave behind only a minimal over-the-horizon military force in the region to protect American personnel and facilities, continue training Iraqi security forces, and root out al Qaeda.”
How does he plan on having “only a minimal over-the-horizon military force in the region” with “no permanent bases in Iraq”? And what’s going to be his administration’s response to calls from the Islamic world to curb criticism of Islam? Does Obama understand that the bigger threat of Islamism might be cultural rather than military? For that matter, do any of the current candidates understand this?
NorthernCross on February 10, 2008 at 11:11 AM
That is another area that makes me uneasy about McCain. He has been adamant about his military service record as a means to gain the military vote, but he hasn’t laid out any kind of a long range plan for addressing the non-military aspect. Will he continue with the Bush “Religion of Peace” tripe? Foreign aid to countries supporting Muslim terrorism? Aid to Fatah? He is emphasizing the military aspect to cash in votes, which I guess is how the game is played, but it does leave a void. What is he going to do about cleaning up the CIA and State Dept?

I realize Barracko & the Hildebeast are worse. Unless somebody else pops up or something else happens, I’m leaning towards just leaving the Presidents box on the ballot empty, but voting mostly Republican on the rest of the offices. I just don’t trust McCain and now especially with Georgie endosing him. Doubtless he had no choice, of course, to push the Repub candidate. I just don’t see McCain becoming Mr. Wonderful. Battered women don’t get help till they realize doing more of the same doesn’t work long term. I realize you are coming at this thing from a different angle than some of us, but I also have more faith in Congress critters’ sense of political survival, when it comes to Obama’s rhetoric. In 2004 I waited in line for 3 hours to vote for GW Bush, even though I was already pissed off at him for not vetoing the increasingly pork-laden bills that congress was shoveling through. He could have told his GOP-controlled congress, and Ted Stevens and Trent Lott in particular to cut that shit out, but he didn’t do it.
But the election was close. If I sat out in protest, I could have helped elect John F’n Kerry for my husband’s Commander in Chief.

McCain is much better on lower taxes and decreasing government spending than Obama.
Hillary is crying because she isn’t even “likeable enough”. Obama was giving her a sympathy hug when he said that. The GOP’s best hope is the Dems nominate Hillary so that the country can express how irritating they would find her for 4 years. Unfortunately, the Dems are smarter than that and will probably nominate Obama.
McCain will look old running for Bush’s third term against the charming blank slate of change.

I’m not a Hillary fan, but for God’s sake, she is human. She also is a co-sponsor of a very important bill in the Senate right now, S. 2400. Other co-sponsors? Jeff Sessions and John McCain. It would keep the Pentagon from coming after guys to make them pay back their enlistment bonuses if they get medically retired due to combat injuries.
And YES, the Pentagon can and does come after these disabled vets to “pay back” their bonuses now.
S. 2400: Wounded Warrior Bonus Equity Act
A bill to amend title 37, United States Code, to require the Secretary of Defense to continue to pay to a member of the Armed Forces who is retired or separated from the Armed Forces due to a combat-related injury certain bonuses that the member was entitled to before the retirement or separation and would continue to be entitled to if the member was not retired or separated, and for other purposes.

This bill has been passed in the Senate. The bill now goes on to be voted on in the House. Keep in mind that debate may be taking place on a companion bill in the House, rather than on this particular bill. [Last Updated: Jan 27, 2008]

Si Barack puede, pero no puede HRC.
Cry me a river, Billary.
Funkay Chickin…the timing on the water works is a little too perfect but thanks for the info on the bill.
Perhaps HRC should drop out and donate the rest of her monies to helping the vets.

“McCain will look old running for Bush’s third term against the charming blank slate of change”.
Yes, and very few Demos or even Indies will vote for someone with an R next to his/her name–under the Bush banner.

Oh and for god’s sake somebody please tell shillary what America needs is a fricking leader with a fricking backbone, not a bimbo who cries every time she doesn’t get her way.

You know, everytime Hill The Shill opens up the waterworks here, I can’t help but wonder that if, in the eyes of America’s enemies, they don’t see this as a sign of weakness. If that is the case and she is elected, this country of ours is in big big trouble, and I don’t mean that as the result of the four years of damage she and Bubba Billy will inflict on us all. Because once our enemies start attacking us, once again on our own home soil, Hill will then have a really good reason to boo-hoo!

Depends on how the Islamists want to play it. At first blush, I’m tempted to think that either Obama or Hillary as pres would invite a probing event here at home. OTOH, they may opt to go the extortion route, and use political leverage to gain advantage through nonviolent means. In other words, a promise that if we give in politically, we’re spared the event, similar to the Spanish capitulation. I have no idea how they would respond to McCain, although the fear we would do another Afghanistan type response would probably not prevent them from a probe. They now have other countries to use as training areas, plus the Pakistan mess. In any regard, a presidential change is going to ramp up the odds of another tragedy.
The key for them is to not do something as horrific as Beslan, which would surely bring down our full wrath on them, but rather a carefully calibrated statement of violence that we would accept as business as usual.

So now that their fake “conservative” candidate, Romney, is out of the picture, “real conservatives” are stumping for Obama.

You’re fairly new here, aren’t you? The technique is not.
