Religion of Perpetual Outrage prepares for March Madness

It looks like Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam film, “Fitna,” is set to launch next month (hat tip - Sugiero). He’s calling it “Fitna,” which is Arabic for “ordeal.” He’s hinting at a fiery conclusion, which promises to set off a worldwide conflagration not seen since, oh, Submission-gate, Koran-flushing-gate, Mo Cartoon-gate, Fallaci-gate, Rushdie-gate, Pope-gate, Veil-gate, Mo Teddy Bear-gate, etc., etc., etc.
Dutch far-right deputy Geert Wilders said in an interview published Saturday that his controversial anti-Islam film will be called “Fitna” , arabic for ordeal, and will be aired in March.
The leader of the Freedom party (PVV), which has nine of 150 seats in parliament, said in November that he planned to make a short film showing that Islam’s holy book, the Koran, is “a fascist book” that “incites people to murder”.
According to the interview with Dutch GPD news agency, Wilders’ 15-minute film is almost done, and he hopes it will be shown on Dutch television in March. He had initially said it would air at the end of January.
Wilders said he has called the film Fitna, an arabic word that in Islam is used to describe all things that can test the faith and is sometimes synonymous to evil.
“I use the term in an inverse sense because for me Islam … is fitna,” he said.
Wilders also gave some more details about what would be shown in the film, which for months has been causing concern in the Netherlands.
It would lead viewers through the Koran, Islam’s holy book, he said, and show texts illustrated by documentary video images to show the Koran is not a symbolic text “but that Islam can take away our freedom unless we act against it”.
In the end the film returns to the situation in the Netherlands and finishes with a picture of the prophet Mohammed, he explained. Muslims consider images of their religion’s founder to be blasphemous.
“Something will happen to that picture but I won’t say what,” Wilders said.

Hurrah! Wilders is a courageous man. Hopefully Hirsi Ali will translate and we can watch it here soon.

You forgot Jamil-gate.

Been a while since we had a good old-fashioned Islamotantrum.
RedWinged Blackbird on February 9, 2008 at 2:51 PM
Let’s see who will have the cojones to show it, and who will not. I’m sure we’ll have plenty to cover. My bet is more on the “no showing”. Not many steel ones left, in the world, and that includes here, in the U.S.A., yes that bastion of freedom and independence, that supposed beacon for the entire world.

Fantastic term, RWB!

Do the Dutch have an army? Cause he`s going to need one surrounding him from now on.

Well considering how many there have been it’s kind of hard to not forget a couple…hundred of them….
doriangrey on February 9, 2008 at 3:07 PM
I don’t know what you mean by “wingnut” - to be sure I don’t belong to any nutty party, nor to any nuts. I simply stand for freedom and independence, at all costs. If we’re not careful now, we will lose the beacon status.

“It’s a bit of a surprise”, says FoxNews. “We project Mike Huckabee will win the Kansas Caucus.
Wake up, conservatives.
Al-Ozarka on February 9, 2008 at 3:19 PM
The beacon status, I’m afraid, was lost some 7 years ago. We’ve become a pariah, like it or not. And some do…

Go Geert, go. Speaking truth to power, as they say.
Question: how many Dutch churches will be the victims of arson?

I talked to a friend of mine in Holland the other day. He told me Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a close friend of his, and this guy has a security detail.
The Dutch have an all volunteer Army and have boots on ground in Afghanistan. I believe they took some casualties as well.
Mooseman on February 9, 2008 at 3:34 PM
Bryan, Michelle, AP, you guys should see if you can contact Wilders so that he knows, even if all else fails, he can show the film on Hot Air.
Cuz that’d be awesome.
apollyonbob on February 9, 2008 at 3:34 PM
I don’t care if we are a pariah. I also don’t care if others ‘love’ us or not. I’d rather they fear us. What we have become, though, and more and more seem to be is wishy/washy, not steely at all. That’s what makes me nervous. What the Europeans, the U.N. or any others think of us leaves me cold.
Entelechy on February 9, 2008 at 3:34 PM
Fitna is also the term for “civil war” and especially the first civil war that ended the Islamic state’s early unity. It is for this reason that I find it to be a highly appropriate term for Wilder’s struggle against Islamic supremacism and the treasonous bond formed between Muslims to the detriment of all Infidels.

A pariah? To the tards of the world perhaps. To normal folk, not so much.

I can’t wait to hear your review and Robert Spencer’s review as well.
And it would be even better to view the film on line here at Hot Air…
Zorro on February 9, 2008 at 3:51 PM
If only we had a Human Rights Commission like Canada, we wouldn’t have to worry so much about hurt feelings with published material. For some reason, I sense we may have one coming, after November, so the world will then be a safer, more civil place.

DMeNTe, I think we know each other fairly well. No need to expand. I also think we understand our differences well, as you know my background. Had been thinking about you, and wishing you and family well, even given our differing views on the U.S. and the world. I like arguing with you because you were always polite about it. With the same best regards,

If the US is a pariah does that mean you all won’t mind if I move down from Toronto? There is a lot of snow out the window.

Michelle,
It would be awesome if Hot Air could show or provide a link the film.

Batten down the hatches the day it’s shown. The followers of “the religion of peace” will do their usual running amuck mayhem.

Oh yeah, we’re the pariah. Oh sure.
Sharpen up your serrated edged knifes. There’s throats to be slit.
And we’re the pariah. Give me a break.
Kini on February 9, 2008 at 4:49 PM
I second/third we petition Wilders to have a grand opening of the film on HotAir as well. He may have to rely on the internet to make sure the film goes global, because you can take it to the bank most EU countries will claim it’s too hot for them to handle. Don’t think he’ll be getting an invitation from U.C. Berkeley or U.C. Irvine either, so he should be grateful for our interest here.
The projection of a Huck win in Kansas means we’ve all failed. There is enough stuff available out on the net to at least make people question his qualifications. Michelle and HotAir have had numerous links. Pull ‘em and send ‘em.

Hurry Mr. Wilders, and thank you.

Another title of great import for 2008…this one a book.

“Pax americana,”
I’m bettin’ that film is suppressed and never released.
I’m also bettin’ that Muslims riot just the same.
I’m also bettin’ that some trouble makin’ Islamic “Holy Man” or “leader” of some kind actually actively works to drum up violence with this film’s existence as an “excuse” much like the Muslims leader did with the Jylands Posten magazine cartoons in which he actually hunted for items that were NOT in the magazine, were not related to the story, were NOT offensive to Islam - like the photo of the man and his son who participated in a hog calling contest in France that was doctored and cropped to appear to be a drawn cartoon, but which was not, and was not anything to do with that collection of cartoons.
The “leader” went to the Middle East and met with other “Religion of Perpetual Outrage” armed with a folder rife with “offensive” material which was fabricated, and worked hard to get Muslims riled up - months AFTER no violent response happened in relation to the original cartoon images.
There appears to be a contingent of Muslims who act like those victim consciousness people who actually TRY to get people to do something that they find offensive just so they can cry at how abused, misunderstood, and discarded they feel, even when they’re not.
Islam, the Religion of “I am a poor victim of infidel abuse, misunderstanding, and Islamophobia, and I am going to kill you for Allah, the merciful. Oh, I am so misunderstood!”
Yep, I expect that someone, or “someones” (plural) will prevent the viewing of that film.
