Every spoiled boast is just a little more whipped cream on the sundae.

I don’t know about better than sex, but nevertheless, this was schadenfreude so sweet, so delicious, so bloody indulgent that it significantly eased the pain of McCain’s ascension to the spot of presumptive nominee.
Sorry Pats fans (well, not really, most of you are obnoxious as hell), but this was the best possible ending to this football season I could have imagined … in fact, it was perfect.

Well, I don’t have a girlfriend at the moment but I do have a 46″ HDTV so I guess my answer is chosen by default.
LOL!!!
Funny video though.

How did they get the couch out when the door was still closed?
amerpundit on February 8, 2008 at 6:16 PM
There’s a version for the NY win up there, too.
Blacklake on February 8, 2008 at 6:17 PM
You had me at 50-inch TVs
Kini on February 8, 2008 at 6:18 PM
Just proves the old adage: Cheaters never win.
JetBoy on February 8, 2008 at 6:18 PM
cuz they pulled it out of the passenger’s side door. Duh!
See the couch came out the front; not the back. Good catch :P

i like the Giants video better. both funny though
darkegop on February 8, 2008 at 6:31 PM
The best part is that you can find arrogant Pats fans who claim that this team, i.e. the one that can lay claim to the single biggest choke in the history of professional sports, is STILL better than the ‘72 Dolphins, i.e. the only undefeated team in the modern history of the game.
Jackasses.
Gerard on February 8, 2008 at 6:40 PM
Well, nobody’s perfect.
Labamigo on February 8, 2008 at 6:40 PM
The Giants’ one is better.
dentalque on February 8, 2008 at 6:44 PM
I’ve watched the replay on the NFL channel a few times. I just love watching the cheaters getting beat-up… love it.
Zorro on February 8, 2008 at 6:48 PM
I’m a (die-hard, dyed-in-the-wool, even remember seeing them play at Fenway) Pats fan and don’t think I’m arrogant about it.
I will say this, tho. It appears we’ve allowed quite a few lefties register here - what with all the name calling that routinely goes on in these threads of late.
It’s disappointing.
Corky on February 8, 2008 at 6:56 PM
The Patriots also had an easy road through the playoffs. They never had to face a #1 or #2 seed (i.e. Indianapolis, Dallas, or Green Bay). They struggled to beat an overmatched San Diego team:
2007 Patriots (18-1): #5 Jacksonville (31-20), #3 San Diego (21-12), #5 New York (14-17)
Compare with the
1989 49ers (17-2): #3 Minnesota (41-13), #5 Los Angeles (30-3), #1 Denver (55-10)
1985 Bears (18-1): #4 New York (21-0), #2 Los Angeles (24-0), #5 New England (46-10)
1984 49ers (18-1): #5 New York (21-10), #3 Chicago (23-0), #1 Miami (38-16)
1978 Steelers (17-2): #3 Denver (33-10), #4 Houston (34-5), #2 Dallas (35-31)

Gerard
The Patriots, no matter what you think of them or their fans played a 16 game season, plus two playoff games and the SuperBowl.
The Dolphins played a 12 game season.
I’m not a Patriot fan (Redskins), but going a 16 game season undefeated probably won’t be accomplished again anytime soon.
darwin on February 8, 2008 at 6:56 PM
Neither do the Jets.
Corky on February 8, 2008 at 6:58 PM
The jets are not only cheaters, tamperers and rats, but their fans are drunken thugs who harass women at games and throw beer bottles and spit at them when they won’t strip in public.
TheBigOldDog on February 8, 2008 at 7:07 PM
Please lay off the heavy drugs during the dinner hour please. They Patriots defeated every top seeded team in the NFL except the Packers and that’s because they never got a chance to play them.
TheBigOldDog on February 8, 2008 at 7:08 PM
A. It was 14 game regular season.
B. The Patriots might have played a longer season, but they also benefited from a host of rules intended to protect the QB and artificially inflate offensive stats.
C. Whether or not you win every game in the regular season is irrelevant. This is the moral that the much derided Mercury Morris has been trying to impart throughout the entire NFL season. Losing one game is still a blemish, and you can’t be “perfect” with flaws, i.e. losses, whether they’re exposed during the regular season or the playoffs.
Gerard on February 8, 2008 at 7:12 PM
Said like a true Patriots fan.
franklinstein on February 8, 2008 at 7:14 PM
18-1 was punishment for Belichick running up the score in the first half of the season.
Shivv on February 8, 2008 at 7:14 PM
The Giants one is way better.
HotAirExpert on February 8, 2008 at 7:17 PM
Either that or the man upstairs heard Brady shilling for Gore and decided to make an exception with regard to “free will”
RobertCSampson on February 8, 2008 at 7:17 PM
Gerad,
Whatever … my point is winning all regular season games is something, whether you like the Patriots or not, and something we’re unlikely to see for a while … maybe another 35 years.
“but they also benefited from a host of rules intended to protect the QB and artificially inflate offensive stats”
Rules that also benefit every other team in the NFL. If these rules are so beneficial, why did it take 35 years to do it again? What do stats have to do with anything?
Look, I get it, you hate the Patriots. My whole point is going undefeated in the regular season is nothing to sneeze at. I understand that you disagree and no doubt have 8 windows open ready to lay more stats on me … but I don’t care. I thought it was impressive, you don’t.
We’ll see what happens next year.
darwin on February 8, 2008 at 7:23 PM
….19 games in a row
wildweasel on February 8, 2008 at 7:23 PM
And that explains why the Jets never win.
SnarkVader on February 8, 2008 at 7:25 PM
Corky on February 8, 2008 at 6:56 PM
Relax.
The season’s over and it’s time for Patriots fans to enjoy themselves.

Gerard on February 8, 2008 at 7:25 PM
1. The dinner hour? What, do you believe that everyone adjusts their schedules to align with East Coast time?
2. Perhaps you simply missed the phrase “through the playoffs” as in “easy road through the playoffs. If you notice I compared only their respective playoff opponents and scores, not regular season scores. But if you didn’t notice, that would explain your oversight.
On the other hand, if you see no difference between regular season games and playoff games, then you haven’t been paying attention.
aunursa on February 8, 2008 at 7:27 PM
:-P
JetBoy on February 8, 2008 at 7:31 PM
What do stats have to do with anything?
They demonstrate that the comparisons between The Patriots and previous, better, teams are inaccurate.
The people who continually harp upon the supposed weakness of The Dolphins schedule never seem to bring up the fact that they played in an era when the rules were completely different. Yes, The Patriots have a great offense irrespective of the current NFL rules, but the fact that Brady benefits enormously from those rules was never brought up by people making the argument that this team deserved to be classed in the same field as the classic Dallas, San Francisco or Pittsburgh franchises.
…my point is winning all regular season games is something.
Only if that feat is accompanied by victories throughout the post-season. All of the Patriots players who were asked about this after the SB, without exception, agreed with my take, i.e. winning sixteen games is a meaningless accomplishment when you can’t bring home any jewelry proving you were the best team in the NFL that year.
Gerard on February 8, 2008 at 7:33 PM
Right. They only beat the Chargers who beat the Colts and the Jags who were the highest scoring team in the second half of the season and had perhaps the best running game in the league. You can only beat the teams you play.
TheBigOldDog on February 8, 2008 at 7:41 PM
It still goes in the record book.
Of course they want to win it all and they’re disappointed when they don’t. But I’m in their market and I’ve watched plenty of the coverage without seeing anyone on the team say that the undefeated regular season is meaningless. Got quotes?
Pablo on February 8, 2008 at 7:42 PM
And had they beat the Giants, well, they were only a 10-6 team. And the regular season record/seeding matters, dontcha know.
Pablo on February 8, 2008 at 7:44 PM
It still goes in the record book.
Yes it does.
Plus, The Pats have lots of other glorious achievements that will never be duplicated.
-Biggest Choke In The History Of The NFL Playoffs
-Worst 18-1 Team in NFL History
-First Team To Lose To An NFC Wild-Card In The Super Bowl
And for Mr. Seau, Longest Stretch Between SB Appearances In Which That Player’s Team Lost

Here’s another delicious item to have fun with, Giants fans.
JammieWearingFool on February 8, 2008 at 8:18 PM
Have fun, this NY state native will.
So the Pats fans want a black man to blame (as the linked article alleges)? Then blame David Tyree for that ridiculous ball-to-helmet catch, and Plaxico Burruss for faking that Pat cornerback out of his you-know-what strap.
NYG fans, on the other hand, will credit these two guys, among others.
Bigfoot on February 8, 2008 at 8:29 PM
What’s the point? That’s already last season. We’re preparing for the 2008 season start. Belicheat-bum can hone his cheating skills for the new season and learn some class, if that’s possible. Blaming bad luck and his guys play and giving NO credit to the GREAT play of the Giants will be remembered as much as his loss, by some. The guy looks and acts like he was born in an alley. What a low class bum. You’d think by now with his money and postion he would not act like a pouting Little League coach.
countywolf on February 8, 2008 at 8:41 PM
They’re also the best 18-1 Team in NFL History, Gerard. ‘Course, that doesn’t make it into the book either.
Pablo on February 8, 2008 at 8:45 PM
Got a quote for that?
No, of course you don’t, because you made it up. Let me give you some real ones though.
Pablo on February 8, 2008 at 8:51 PM
Look the Patsies got to Play 3 sub .500 teams twice during the regular season(whupped my JETS twice). Maybe if they played in a halfway competitive division they could lay claim to being great, but the cold hard fact is NE had an easy time in 6 of those games cause they were playing crappy teams(JETS included, we sucked this year Mangina better come up with something this year or he’s gone).
Don Carne on February 8, 2008 at 9:03 PM
I’d argue the 1985 Bears were a better 18-1 team in the end, as they finished the job and lost only to a good Miami team.
Oh yes, and they demolished New England in the Super Bowl that year. Bears finished strong, outscoring opponents 91-10 in that playoff run, while the Patriots wheezed to the finish line.
The 18-1 Niners the previous season weren’t too shabby, either.
JammieWearingFool on February 8, 2008 at 9:04 PM
Well, Pablo, obviously Belicheat is your guy. He is what he is. One mans’ trash is anothers’ treasure, and vice versa. I heard what he said after the game and had a different take on the guy. I didn’t copy the quotes as you did. You like him, I don’t. I think he’s a bum, but what do I know. That’s what sports for officiandos is all about, isn’t it. Good luck to him next year, ’cause I’m pullin’ for whoever he’s playing against.
countywolf on February 8, 2008 at 9:14 PM
Dude, have a little respect for the Giants. They went on the road and beat the #1 and #2 seeds in the NFC and then an undefeated team in the Super Bowl.
Choke? Choking is when you’re 14-2 and have the league MVP and lose at home in your first playoff game or your 15-1 and you lose the AFC Championship game at home. Chocking is not losing in the Super Bowl by 3 points due to a couple of minor miracles including perhaps the greatest catch in Super Bowl history to a team that knocked off the 1 and 2nd seeds in its conference on the road.
TheBigOldDog on February 8, 2008 at 9:19 PM
Whoa there…
First off, the whole “Gate D” thing was isolated…even regular game goers like myself had no idea that crud was going on.
Second, Belicheat and the Pats claim (”claim” being the word here) that the Jets had done the same thing (taping) the year before, but the Pats didn’t want to say anything. Yeah, right. They were just being “nice”…
Final word? Patriots cheat. The NFL certainly said so…fines, and loss of draft pick.
JetBoy on February 8, 2008 at 10:42 PM
Haha and the other teams don’t?
Ya, Mercury Morris, there’s a standup guy.
You people crack me up.
I’m sure your second favorite RINO senator will get to the bottom of all of this. ROFL.

On a different note, did anyone happen to notice that once again we horrible creatures from the NY-NJ area seem to have had a championship night where no cars were overturned and no one was arrested for rioting, followed by parades in both areas where a similar minimum amount of BS went on…
I think when it comes to behaving like sports fans, somebody just doesn’t get it. If it’s us, we’re going to have to send out to Europe for a few soccer fans to teach us the ropes. /s

How ’bout this: I’d give up a 50-inch TV to have six months of *ahem* with the model featured in the Reuters story spokesmodeling the 50-in TV…

I think there were a few minor arrests at the parade, but nothing on the scale of the soccer psychosis you see displayed overseas.
The parade itself was pretty sedate, ableit celebratory.

Gerard on February 9, 2008 at 10:00 AM
Yeah, and what he is is a guy with a fistful of Super Bowl rings who just orchestrated the first undefeated regular season in 35 years.
Yeah, and if your trash makes $6 - 8 million a year, you can keep your treasure. No matter how much you hate him, the guys coaches winning teams, and he does it with a team ethic. That’s where all the rings come from.

I sweat, every time I read “your a retard” I feel a brain cell commit suicide.
