Is the Berkeley mayor’s non-apology enough?

Excellent video Bryan! Spot on, again, buddy! It’s a shame we can’t do more than just cut off Federal funds. What it could be I have no idea. Well I do, but it includes violence. Seriously, all of you UCBerkeley types defending the university? Just bail out. Go to different universities. Starve Berkelely at the source of any of its recognition. Berekely without UC Berekely is just another wretched, foul smelling hippie town with a huge permanently homeless and unemployed population.
Unlike SF which will always have the Golden Gate Bridge to fluff up it’s notoriety, Berkeley without UCBerkeley is a nonfactor.

I hope the federal funding for Berkley is pulled. It would give me more joy to watch a school and town like that, which thrive on federal dollars, go down and then as we watch the town start raising taxes on the people who work there. I bet they won’t like that and MAY elect some people who won’t speak out against the military!

Do you ever notice how lefty websites never allow comments? Theirs is an elitist model: we talk, you listen. The conservative websites are far more democratic.
I dispute Code Pink’s self description as a “peace group.” Where have they established peace? By contrast, I can name lots of places where the Marines have established peace. Who is the true peace group here? Goofy women in pink who throw trash on Marine recruiting stations? Or Marines who clear a town of Al Qaeda killers, torturers, and eviscerators?
By attacking the Marines and demonstrating against the US military effort in Iraq, Code Pink is not promoting peace but simply lobbying for the other side, attempting to win victory for the insurgents through protests and propaganda.
You can see how gutless the anti-war crowd is by their almost immediate collapse when funding was threatened to be withdrawn from Berkeley. Code Pink demonstrates against the Marines because they know the Marines will never harm them. They can safely call the Marines professional killers to their face because they know what they’re saying is not true. After all, they wouldn’t call a mafia hit man a professional killer to his face. He might kill them.
Likewise, the Berkeley City Council made a lot of sanctimonious accusations against the Marines, but when Congress threatened to cancel some earmarks for street improvements, those remarks were rescinded. Bad streets could hurt the property values of those pricey homes the cowardly council members live in. Nobody wants to lose their equity over some bogus charges of mass murder. Bygones?
Code Pink and the Berkeley City Council are pusillanimous protestors who target their wrath only on objects they’re sure are safe, like militaries of a democracy who woul never strike them back. They lack the courage of their convictions because those convictions are bumper sticker thin. They only advance against a void and retreat when given the slightest push back.
Push them back, I say. Way back.

Because I’m strongly supportive of cutting off funding to the City of Berkeley, I do wish to remind everyone again of a basic fact: UC-Berkeley is a state of California institution. It has no more to do with what the City of Berkeley does than do the Walmarts near Waco, Texas dictate to Waco’s town council. UC-Berkely is an excellent university with top departments in many areas; that is, these people are smart and have powerful friends. If we attack UC-Berkeley we are going to get absolutely nowhere, but we will be mocked–and deservedly so.
I’d like to win this battle but if we go out and attack powerful innnocent bystanders, we will lose.

I emailed Arnold and asked why he was silent on this issue and not standing up for our military. IMO, regardless of whether or not it is a City of Berkeley issue, Arnold could certainly stand up for the Marines and THEIR rights!
