I'm proud of Mitt, and proud to have supported him on these posts for months.
He should go for the Veep slot, if for no other reason, in case McCain gets blindsided by Clinton inc. scandals,or has physical aliments which cause him to drop out of the race. Mitt would be right there to step in.
I'm not wishing ill health on McCain; from the beginning I've doubted whether a 72 year old man has the stamina to run an entire race. This is the most strenuous, stressful year that McCain will have faced since he was a young man. Being President is the most stressful job in the world.
See you in November.

I’ve told you this before and I’ll tell you again…..Only unprincipled people judge a candidate by his supporters.

csdeven on February 8, 2008 at 12:26 AM

Is that your back door? After personally insulting everyone who didn't back Mitty, this is your way out.
So your little analogy of Hillary, how about Hsu, and all the other Clinton "supporters", we think that's okay for them to rub shoulders with those creeps. If we say, look who is supporting Edwards, the sleazy trial lawyers, then we are unprincipled? If a candidate was heavily supported by the Communists or if MoveOn was fully behind them, we can not judge that because then we are unprincipled?
What an interesting theory...did you think of that all by yourself?

Between BKennedy and csd I had a really hard time finally supporting Romney. Nasty supporters can really kill a campaign. Probably lost the nomination for him too. Word for 2012 guys, always remember when you’re insulting folks, you just might need their votes some day and it does make a difference.

So, take your PC garbage and go be with the dems. Real conservatives don't need it.

That said, I admire Mr. Romney for his class today, and can't say that I feel too sorry for the Mittens, or whatever they're called, because they were so mean to all others here who supported someone else.

Now, all of us, get our act together, be rational, not emotional, and think of this country before all else. Only the idiotic left is emotional to the point of nothingness.

All I know is Fred started last and dropped out first among the supposed “serious contenders.”

If that isn’t a blazing indictment of his so-called commitment to clear conservatism (which does, btw. involve hard work and lifting yourself up), then nothing is.

He dropped out when it became clear he couldn't win. Just like Rudy and Romney.

That charge doesn't even qualify as a "good point," much less as a "blazing indictment"...

Greenhorn on February 7, 2008 at 10:14 PM
Nicely said. He has shown tremendous organizational skill and fundraising. Those are talents that will endear him to his colleagues in the next few years.

I still, myself, am surprised at how much he has impressed me. When this season started I remarked that he would have been a nice candidate for 1992, but that we needed someone with strong convictions now. Having watched him these months, I've really come to appreciate his mastery of detail, etc, but really his character and class. And I do believe he has become a conservative with conviction.

Mitt has nothing to be ashamed about. A year ago, he was 3% in the polls. Now, he is the leader of the conservative political class and the overwhelming favorite in 2012. Mitt is now free to keep his name out there anyway he wants. He can go on speaking tours, write books, raise money for candidates and himself, keep his website open for blogging and stuff, and lead a Heritage Foundation type of group. He's going to have a blast. I can't wait to find out what he will do as he lays the groundwork for 2012.

It would not be impossible for the conservatives who supported Duncan, Fred, Mitt et.al. to organize into an energetic delegation to influence the GOP direction. As conservative ideals do matter, it would be foolish not to unite efforts, and pathetic to submit entirely to liberalism. Effectivity would rely on simplicity, minimal agenda for potency of effort to survive. To attempt accomplishing everything would be futile. But to decide upon one success at a time would be effective, prioritize by vote. We already have professional spokesmen on radio talk shows.

Well, it certainly seems there will have to be some sort of an organization for conservatives, or they will have no voice at all.

Has anyone noticed the potential for a third-party run for the White House is going way, way up of late? That usually just hands a victory to the Democrats, but there may be enough disaffected conservatives this time to pull it off.

All I know is Fred started last and dropped out first among the supposed "serious contenders."

If that isn't a blazing indictment of his so-called commitment to clear conservatism (which does, btw. involve hard work and lifting yourself up), then nothing is.

Quite frankly HA was a nicer place to be before primary season, and the Fredheads started the descent. They've since been upstaged by the Huckatrolls, the Rudy Brigade, and the McMainiacs.

Hey Obama, call me when you grow up and realize that randomly picking your one-word debate answers from Hope, Change, and Government isn't an effective strategy for being the leader of the free world.

You're going to need a whole heck of a lot more than Hope, Change, and Government to stop Armageddonjad and Putin from walking all over your beta male rear.

McCain would do well to use Romney. But Romney will do fine, another 4 years of seasoning, of maturing as a conservative, and he would make a great candidate. This was not his time, he just wasn't ready, like someone said "he sounded presidential", well it takes more then that. And that is about all it amounted to this time, but if he keeps the conservative thought, and walks the conservative line (instead of swerving all over the place), he would be a force.
Good for him dropping out, it only helps the party, and him. Now, Huck, it's time for you to do likewise, and let's get on with electing a Republican.
I like the sound of having Lieberman in the cabinet, I like the sound of having Mitt in the cabinet, Paul can head up the space program, and Huck can head up the FHA as the sub-prime minister.

Oh please, cut the crap. Fredheads were calling everyone who didn’t jump on the Fred bandwagon RINOs and “not real conservatives” for months. Maybe you guys should have taken your own advice and not pissed off anyone and everyone who didn’t coronate St. Fred.

I doubt that McCain would choose Thompson (although I love Fred) - because of the age factor. I don’t think having TWO old guys would work.

But does McCain even look at Fred as old? Or is he thinking, "that young whippersnapper might do, even if he is a little green."

I blame concervatives including but not limited to FredHeads, talk radio, the blogosphere, Rush, Hotair, Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham ect for waiting until the 11th hour to back Romney. Lets let the MSM endore and run the Republican primary while we sit around and ponder if Duncan Hunter or Fred Thompson will break 5%
Dumb dumb dumb

Fredheads certainly aren't to blame - they were having to fend off crap from the Romney camp all through the summer and fall. It is clear now that these people shouldn't have endorsed Romney at all, given his very obvious weakenesses and long record of being a screaming liberal in MA. If they were serious about their much vaunted 'principles' they would have got behind Alan Keyes from the outset, and helped build him a strong core of support.

The Democrawlers want to retreat, always. The Republicans have known that as adults, we have to face evil and defeat it; not appease it.

That's a horrible smear of the brave and noble Democrats, of course. They've done more to fight evil than anyone else.

It's just that they define evil as George W. Bush and Republicans.

Come to think of, maybe they were trying to tell us something?

SECOND LOOK AT DEMOCRA... Nah. I just can't say it.
